Undergraduate Thesis Project (10th semester)
The proposal for this project concentrates semi – rural community development by providing economic opportunities to the local community and also reviving the dying craft of Channapatna. Economic opportunities and revival of the craft is achieved by engaging the urban population into the semi – rural skilled community of Channapatna through tourism (interaction between different age groups), trade & sales of wooden products.
As Channapatna is known as the “town of toys”, kids become the primary audience and thereby their families. Therefore an activity centre for children - a social and recreational centre which supports opportunities for children to develop their physical, emotional and social abilities will encourage participation of children. It also aims to bridge the gap between the community and the visitors by providing spaces for interaction.
