Historically ‘Morning tails’ were worn to both funerals & weddings. The look was made popular by the English gentry & remains popular today for more traditional weddings.

This has made Black the most popular colour for kiwi weddings. Either as a plain suit or more formal as a tuxedo ‘black tie’ look. If a traditional look is not for

How soon before the wedding should you have a wax?

It is recommended to wax 2-3 days before your big day – it’s a huge no-no to wax on the day of the event, especially if you are new to waxing! If you are new to waxing, it is safer to wax up to 5 days beforehand and is helpful for both men and women. No one wants to look red and blotchy on their wedding day!

This is enough time to give yourself to find a dress you love that you’re comfortable in.

Traditional wedding etiquette states that the mother of the bride chooses her ensemble first, which then informs what the mother of the groom will wear. This tip is a bit oldfashioned though, and the process doesn’t have to be so formal. Call her a week before you go shopping and let her know what you’re thinking in terms of colours and where you’ll go shopping, giving her an informal go-ahead to do the same.

NA AIL LS edding day nails Picking your wedding day shade and type of manicure is only half the battle when it comes to getting your bridal nails perfect. There are going to be a lot of people looking at your hands to catch a glimpse of that pretty new ring (and a lot of high-definition close-up shots taken by your photographer).

Don’t go too long.

Long wedding nails can be incredibly elegant, but if you’re not used to acrylics, the look can be more hassle than it’s worth. Experiment with nail length in the months leading up to your wedding and see what feels most comfortable.

Medium-length nails filed into an almond shape are universally flattering and aren’t likely to cause any wedding

day emergencies like acrylics can.

Don’t hesitate to test multiple shades.

You try on more than one dress (most of the time), so why shouldn’t you try on more than one polish for your wedding nails? Keep in mind that certain shades look better on different skin tones.

For example, if you have an olive skin tone, test drive a poppy red polish with blue undertones instead of pink for a more flattering shade. Bridal nails may be traditionally neutral, but there’s no harm in trying out bolder colors before your Big Day. Don’t buy only one bottle of polish.

If you didn’t order escort cards with your stationery, it’s time to put on your DIY hat and make them. (Ask your craftiest ‘maid for some assistance if necessary!)

Provide drivers with a schedule and list of names, phone numbers, and addresses for pickup and drop off.

Shop and pack for your honeymoon. Though your girls will make sure you’re covered in the wedding-night lingerie department (what else are bachelorette parties for?!), bikinis, sun dresses, and SPF 50 won’t buy themselves.

CELEBRAN NT hen planning your wedding one of the most important decisions you will make is choosing your celebrant.

A well-chosen celebrant will help you create your dream wedding but in order to perform marriages legally in New Zealand, he or she must be appointed as an independent marriage celebrant pursuant to section 11 of the Marriage Act 1955 and be registered with the Department of Internal Affairs. Celebrants undergo a strenuous selection process and must maintain registration annually.

Points to consider when choosing your celebrant: • Good celebrants are also great listeners and should

establish what ideas you have for your ceremony before contributing their own suggestions.

• Do they offer to provide you with resources?

These may include sample ceremonies, readings, vows and ring exchange wordings.
