As part of the Government’s Local Water Done Well reform, Hawke’s Bay councils are considering how they can better and more cost-effectively, provide drinking water, wastewater and urban stormwater services. They must consult their communities on their future water services delivery model.

Working together, Central Hawke’s Bay District Council, Hastings District Council, Napier City Council and Wairoa District Council have investigated a number of options and agreed on three final options for your feedback. One option involves joining together as a region, while the other two options involve each council going it alone.

1

REGIONAL CCO

PREFERRED OPTION

SINGLE COUNCIL CCO 2

IN-HOUSE DELIVERY

All four councils have identified option 1 as their preferred option.

Through a regional CCO, the region can:

Improve efficiency in water service delivery

Access more borrowing capacity to fund infrastructure upgrades

Ensure the most cost-effective option for communities

This is one of the biggest decisions we will make.

Your views matter.
