TheEolaRoadBranchhada meaningimpactofmylife becauseIwasrewardedfor ascendinguptothupper level. AsIrefertoitas “StairwaytoHeaven.” EachtimeIascendedIwas rewardedbytheseintances. Gettingregisteredto interestedprograms,gettingpresenterscontactinfo, howmanyregistered,hasitbeenpresentedbefore, fillingoutacommentcardforfuturetopicprograms, goingtoKristaDanisofficeandbeingtoldyourtopic becamseaprogram,beingthankedforinputonpast programs,sittingdownataquietstudytableto completeworkIneededdonequickandpromptly. Inthefallof2017justbeforeThanksgiving,Isuffered frombloodclotsinbothofmylungsandlegatthe ageof32.Iwasinthehospitalfor41/2daysbutafter releaselifekeptmoving. Mydaughter,justthreeatthetime,wasinpreschool attheEolacommunitycenterandIwouldusually visitthelibrarywhileshewasinschool.
Goingupthestaircasewassodifficult.Ihadtostop halfwayandtakeabreath.Iwonderedwhatpeople thought.ButIdiditanywaybecausetherewardisof coursebooks. Fastforwardtotoday,manyyearslater,andevery timeIclimbthosestairsIthinkabouthowdifficult theywerethen,andhoweasilyIclimbthemnow. Therecoverywaslongbutthestairsremained,and sodidthebooks,andsodidI.

IspentmanyyearsdoingstorytimesattheEolaRoad Branch.Somanymemoriesliveinmyheart.Somany friendsImade,bothamongstaffandamongpatrons,still areincontact.Herearethreethingsthatstandout:
IdidMondaynightstorytimeforfamiliesandtheroom waspacked.Myfavoritememorythatalwaysmakes mesmileisseeingalongrowofdadsfromAsiadoing thechickendancewiththeirchildren.
Asadonebutitstandsout.Ialwaysendedmy storytimeswithatwinklingwand,adarkenedroomand HapPalmer'sversionof"TwinkleTwinkleLittleStar" whichincludesalinefromShakespeare,"Silverbownew bentinheaven."Ayoungchildwhoattendedregularly tragicallydrowned.Itookmywandtothefuneraland goteveryonetosingforNate.
Atinylittlegirlandhermothershowedupforthe Mondaynightstorytimeforalongtime.Ilearnedthat shenamedhernewcatWilkins.ThisyearJainey graduatedfromhighschool,sentmean announcementandshestillhasWilkins.Thatwasthe highesthonorIhaveeverreceived.

EventhoughOswegoPublicLibrary ismyhomelibrary,Ihaveused EolaRoadLibrarymoresincemy familymovedtoOswegoin2008.I havelotsofgreatmemoriesatthe EolaRoadBranch,asacustomer andasastaffofAPLD.
Mykidshave participatedinEola RoadBranch’sStorytime, kidsprograms,Reading withRover(whichwas mydaughter’sfavorite programatthelibrary).
Alsomydaughter’sfirst jobasteenagerwasat theEolaRoadBranch andsheLOVED everythingaboutthis librarylocation!

Wegotmarriedin2016intheEolacommunity center.Wehadtalkedabouthavingthe ceremonyinthelibrary,butitquicklyseemed impractical.Wediddoaseriesofphotosin thelibrarybeforetheceremonythough.We justtooksomenewphotosbeforetheold librarydisappears.

TheEolaRoadBranchopened withonly14,000squarefeetin 1993.Thankstoexplosive populationgrowthontheeast sideofAurora,abiggerlibrary onthesamesitesoonbecame necessary.Constructionbegan onthecurrentlibrarybuilding inlate2001andwasfinishedin 2003.
