For the safety and security of our clients, all visitors are required to do the following: 4 Sign in and Sign out when arriving and leaving the hospital.

4 Wear a visitor’s badge while in the hospital.

The following are NOT allowed in client areas while visiting: 4 Outside food or drinks 4 Cigarettes, e-cigarettess, vaping pens, or lighters of any kind 4 Weapons 4 Cell phones 4 Purses, backpacks, or bags of any kind

Children under the age of 16 are not allowed on the inpatient units.

Minors 16-17 years of age must be accompanied by an adult when visiting the inpatient units. Minor children may not be left in the lobby without adult supervision.

Visitation may be restricted or limited due to client acuity or if visitation is determined to be counterproductive for the client.

The client reserves the right to refuse visitors at any time.

What to Expect Visiting a client who is receiving inpatient, hospital-based Behavioral Health treatment requires different guidelines than those you may have come to expect from other medical hospitals. Our commitment is to ensure the safest, most confidential environment possible for our clients and to follow state and federal laws that regulate the Behavioral Health industry.

Visitors may bring personal items to clients such as clothing. For client safety, all personal items brought by visitors must first be given to the nursing staff to be inventoried and checked in. Once items have been safety checked, they will be given to the client as appropriate.

What You Should Know Regarding Confidentiality Alvarado Parkway Institute understands our client’s right to privacy. To honor that right, we maintain strict client confidentiality policies in accordance with state and federal law. All clients are provided a Patient Identification Number (PIN) and are asked to share their number with family and friends who may wish to telephone or visit them during hospitalization. To protect

client confidentiality and to ensure that incoming calls and visitors are authorized by the client, please be prepared to provide the PIN to staff upon calling or visiting the hospital. Without a PIN, the hospital will not be able to confirm or deny the presence of the client in the hospital.

Clients who are not on the LantermanPetris-Short Act (LPS) Conservatorship*, have the right to decide who may be involved in their treatment including specifically whom hospital staff can talk to about their care at Alvarado Parkway Institute. There are times when clients do not authorize staff to share their information with anyone. While this can be frustrating for families and loved ones, the hospital is required by law to uphold the client’s wishes.

*The Lanterman-Petris-Short Act (LPS) Conservatorship: A mental health (LPS) conservatorship makes one adult (called the conservator) responsible for a mentally ill adult (called the conservatee)

Welcome to a Growing, Innovative Behavioral Health System Our team has been serving the behavioral health and addictive disorder community for over 30 years. Our programs are staffed with highly trained mental and addictive health professionals including physicians, nurses, certified addiction counselors, psychologists, therapists, social workers, and mental health workers.

We are focused on meeting the needs of the whole client by providing a Continuum of Care through our Center for Mental Health and Addictive Disorders.

Our Behavioral Health System includes our 66-bed Inpatient Hospital, Partial Hospitalization, and Intensive Outpatient services at three convenient locations.

Center for Aging We are committed to meeting the unique behavioral health and addiction needs of our aging community. Our Center for Aging program provides structured treatment in a safe, caring and compassionate environment for older adults struggling with mental illness and addictive disorders.
