This documentary film tells the story of a lifelong horseman’s journey back into the saddle. The bond between horse and human is a powerful and healing energy and this is a journey that must be shared. Humans have long felt a deep connection to the horse. Over the centuries, our natural bond with this amazing animal has been lost. Today, scientists and horse lovers across the world are rediscovering that connection and the liberation it can bring, not just to the horse, but to ourselves. When Selika flees the comfort and safety of her home in rural France, she sets out for Paris to forge her own independent path in the world. "The Adventures of Selika" is based on an image of Selika Lazevski, about whom little is known. The image was by Felix Nadar, renowned 19th century French photographer of celebrated people (authors, scientists, painters . . .). Curious and puzzling, I was struck by the strength and pride that exude from this image of a beautiful black woman elegantly dressed in a riding habit, believed to be an equestrian of haut dressage in 19th century France

I rode as much as I could, took as many lessons as my parents would allow, and competed at as many shows possible. My horse obsession took me to Poland, where I planned to pursue my career in riding. However, it became difficult for me to do everyday activities and was restricted to my bed for five months. I was diagnosed with Lupus SLE. Today, I am still working with doctors on getting my flare back into remission so I can go back to spending time at the barn with my horse, Sławny. Kasia and Sławny

BURBA, ANDRIUS – LITHUANIA Black Horse – Photography Brown Pony – Photography http://www.underlook.org/ https://www.facebook.com/GetUnderlook/ I'm a photographer Andrius Burba. I've recently found a great interest in taking pictures of various animals from underneath. As I've tried it I fell in love with the results and I wanted to show them in the best possible way. Here you will find my projects taken from a different angle. I enjoy my work and the biggest project I have done so far is "Under-Horse". It was mainly funded by the book publisher "Riva". Thanks to them the cat photo book has been published in Autumn and now from 10th of April you can get a photo book on dogs too. These books can be bought both in Germany or online. Books are in German but the pictures are the ones that count, right? I hope that in the near future you will be able to see other big projects from me and my team.

Growing up drawing and painting was always a passion of hers along with riding and working with horses! CRINER, MARCY – USA Lipizzan Wonder – Acrylic Maestro – Acrylic https://www.horsesofus.com/ https://www.facebook.com/horsesofus/ I like to think of this story as a tiny seed that was planted back in the 1970s. That little seed grew and grew and led me to the Horses of Us.One moment changed everything for me. It happened when I was five. I was already obsessed with horses and desperately wanted a pony. I vividly remember going to pick strawberries at a local farm and coming home with a fuzzy brown pony named Chocolate. This pony became my world for all of my childhood. She was my confidant, partner, and performer. My parents loved telling the Chocolate story. My favorite part of the story was when I told them I wanted a white pony but after I rode Chocolate I was happy to have a brown one instead. Even better was how the farmer added the saddle and bridle to sweeten the deal. Who can pass up a Shetland pony with a saddle and bridle for $50? That was the beginning of my lifelong journey with horses.

MITCHELSON, LEE – USA Magical Reality – Oil Painting - Picasso In His Prime – Oil Painting http://leemitchelsonart.com/ https://www.facebook.com/LeeMitchelsonArt/ 625 https://twitter.com/MitchelsonArt https://www.facebook.com/lee.mitchelson.12 https://www.pinterest.com/leemitchelson/ I started out as a landscape painter in oil, mentored by a Master, Karl Albert, who would do plein air painting with me ( this man who had painted alongside Edgar Payne!) and I studied with watercolorist Nita Engle. I had idolized Nita my childhood from having seen her watercolors in Reader's Digest Condensed Books, drooling over her paintings that went with stories like "At Home in the Woods". I was very happy, as an adult, to be in her actual presence. Predominantly, however, I have been an animal artist, and I learned to do that largely on my own. I was encouraged in this at a young age by my discussions about animal anatomy with T.C. Westall, once an instructor at Herron Art Institute. Fortunately for me, he was also my uncle. To this day I still have yet to see paintings that surpass those he created both as oil portraits and watercolor landscapes. He was an incredible painter who went largely unrecognized due to not being able to pursue it fully. He had colleagues though who recognized what he could do, people like Joshua Meador. Part of my childhood art worship was a juicy impressionism oil landscape my uncle had of Meador's. It gave birth to my passion for oil paint. Karl Albert and my uncle are both gone, yet I still ask them for their artistic assistance. I was born a painter. I can take little credit for it, it was a gift given to me by my Maker. I am grateful that I was exposed to art and could feel that awakening very early in my life.

I am fascinated by their natural beauty. For me they are magical creatures which can be interpreted in many ways. They are full of majesty, expression and mystery. They arouse strong emotions in me and thanks to photography, I have found my own link with these amazing animals. 10 years ago I decided to dedicate my life to equine photography. I am a self-taught photographer and continue to improve my skills through new experiences and new challenges. Year by year I have broadened my horizons through travelling the world as part of my passion for equine photography. Through my work I would like to introduce you to the world of horses as seen by me. I invite you to step into my world, where horses and photography merge together to form my greatest passion.
PETERS, SABINE – GERMANY Youngster – Photogrphine - Miro – Digital Paint http://www.artful.horse https://www.facebook.com/SpotlightFotomomente 9,187 Born in May 1969 in Hanau, Germany, I now live with my family and my animals (sheep, border collies, cats, horses) in a small town near Frankfurt / M.. Most of my childhood time I spent at the farm in the neighborhood. There I recognized my deep love and learned the respect for the animal world. Horses, however, already attracted me with their grace and meek power in their children's shoes. Also the camera became early a popular companion. At similar times, at a young age, still with borrowed reflex cameras from friends. In 2009, I began to focus more intensively on animal photography on the autodidactic path. As an educated computer scientist and web designer, I quickly found a way to create individual works on the digital level from my photographs, which focused the focus on the "object" and gave it the impression of being special. If the horse was for me a graceful creature with a dynamic radiance, this kind of treatment allowed my personality and actual perception to be embedded in my work. Thus, more and more Equine Fine Art works were created. Since the beginning of 2012 I have been concentrating almost exclusively on the horse. This includes the horse individually in a controlled free-ride, but also in portrait with his rider / owner. I sometimes spend hours on sprawling paddocks to keep the coexistence of horses in groups as natural snapshots. Special composings as well as artworks complete the presentation possibilities.

Melis Yalvac is Turkish but speaks Italian better than I, who are in Milan, Melis Yalvac is small and thin as a twig and his camera follows her everywhere. These are the things I know. Then there are the things I see. I see the silence of his photos, as if they were always taken at the time of the suspension before the roar. Prior to action. The cat prepares a leap, the city waiting for the thunder. There is never need to describe them, the precise detail, the curious moment, they are there and look at you, though, to tell the truth, or are not many times when someone or something is posing and looks in camera, Melis is most often photographed action, things happen, people moving, places. And then, there are horses. They come out from dusty funds such as memory images, magical creatures made of shadows, drawn by the wind, Melis has an eye without malice that rediscovers the fair and sincere nature of the animal regardless of the relationship with the man, from the equestrian bridles, the horse Pair - although with the bite in the mouth - not to know what alchemy. She says, "The perfect noble animal's representation that helped us make the world today. No matter which horse is. Every horse has a story to tell. " I say it is good and that horses like them because they are spectacular, vain and not feel ashamed if she puts them a little 'bare.
