As anticipated last week before the Europa FC game, I said that the result could have gone either way and, unfortunately, it did not go our way and we went down to a 2-0 defeat. Regarding the game itself, I think it was a very balanced encounter with both teams very well-organised, displaying good football throughout and both teams creating plenty of goalscoring opportunities. Despite the result, I must publicly thank German Crespo, the technical team and the players for their effort, determination and attitude during and after the game. As for the game analysis, I can only echo the opinion and words said by German in his address to you in this Match Programme (see page 11 for his words). As for today’s game against St. Joseph’s, my opinion is more or less the same as last week. It’s going to be another closely-fought battle where our objective is to climb to second spot in the table and to be able to do that we will need to put in a good performance. In casual conversation, I have spoken to some of the players and they fully understand what is at stake today. The general consensus and feedback is that last week’s game is now behind us and that the team has prepared well for the challenge
ahead today and we know what needs to be done. With all the recent exposure surrounding racism, not only in football but also in society at large, we have taken the opportunity this week to reaffirm our antiracism and discrimination message. Our club continues to condemn any racist or discriminatory comment and/or behaviour. We join to support all those individuals, clubs, Federations, Associations and Institutions around the world in raising awareness and educating people against racism. Let’s kick racism and discrimination out of football – together. Those found guilty of acts of racism and discrimination at our matches will be dealt with in the strongest possible terms. As well as sharing this message via our Official Website, we will also allocate space here in the Match Programme to spread the word on what is an extremely important subject. Finally, I would like to congratulate Ian Torrilla and Nathan Payas for their newlyappointed roles within the GFA structure and on behalf of Lincoln Red Imps FC, I wish you both all the best in your respective roles. LINCOLN RED IMPS SLIPPED TO A 2-0 DEFEAT AT THE HANDS OF RIVALS, EUROPA FC. In what was a highly-competitive battle, there was a cagey opening with the first half seeing both sides cancel each other out as we went in at the break with the scoreline locked at 0-0. After the restart, it was Europa FC who finally made the breakthrough just past the hour-mark and they were able to double their advantage ten minutes later courtesy of an unfortunate own goal as the ball went in off Lopes. Try as we might, we were unable to get back into the game as our opponents secured a big three points. LINCOLN RED IMPS: Soler, Lopes, L. UNDER-23s: 13 GAMES UNBEATEN OUR YOUNG guns were again in action in the Under-23 Intermediate League on Monday evening against Lions Gibraltar FC as we extended our unbeaten run to 13 League games. Right from the start, we took possession and control of the game. With a very well-organised Lions FC in defence, our boys managed to play with patience moving the ball around in an attempt to score early on in the game. It was not until the 18th minute that Dylan Borge found the back of the net, giving us the necessary advantage to be able to settle down quickly. On the half-hour mark it was Julian Del Rio who scored next and just before half-time, in the 39th minute, it was Shay Jones who gave us a three-goal advantage. The second half was more or less the same, Lincoln dominating the game and looked very well-organised in defence. At the other end, we created a number of chances but were unable to add to our lead. Our next game is this coming Tuesday against second-placed Lynx FC. With a four-point advantage over our opponents, securing a win on Tuesday would give us a seven-point lead with just 12 points remaining to be played for. The win is crucial to be able to retain the League for the second time in as many years that Intermediate League was first introduced by the GFA.

The Head Coach assesses our last game and looks ahead to today’s big clash… WE PREPARE for another very tough game this afternoon against St. Joseph’s.
After our defeat last weekend, today’s opponents have regained second place so we will be fighting to get it back. It is a final with both teams determined to get three important points and also keep our title dreams alive until they are mathematically impossible A victory today would also help the team mentally; the players need to believe that they can beat the top two, which until now has not been possible this season. If we can do that it will be a positive for us. With a little bit of luck and correct decision-making
in the final third, I believe that we can get the victory this afternoon.
Looking back at our last game, we created many opportunities and the difference was that final pass, which we didn’t get right but our opponents did. We conceded the first goal at a time that we were on top and then the second came after a double save by their ‘keeper which could have seen us equalise. Unfortunately from the counterattack that followed immediately afterwards, Bernardo put the ball into his own net.
The team worked hard; obviously there are things that we need to improve upon, which we have worked hard at during the past week. A key factor is our decisionmaking in the final third and hopefully we will see a marked improvement on this during the game ahead.
