WELCOME

WELCOME BACK TO THE VICTORIA STADIUM FOR OUR 13TH GAME OF THE SEASON AND SECOND GAME OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP GROUP AGAINST BRUNO’S MAGPIES. HEAD COACH: German Crespo ASSISTANT COACH: Oscar Ibanez HEAD PHYSIO: Keith Ramirez PHYSIO: Adam Oria GOALKEEPER COACH: Miguel Angel Bazan FITNESS COACH: Daniel Fernandez STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH: Liam Mesilio KIT MAN: Jose Manuel Lopez TEAM DELEGATE: Christian Fortuna

I think we can be very satisfied with our last outing against Lynx, not only the 5-0 scoreline, but also with the overall performance of the team under the leadership of our new Head Coach, German Crespo. We are very pleased with how the bonding between the squad and new Head Coach is evolving and manifesting itself in such a short period of time and this is very optimistic towards our title aspirations. Today we face a Bruno’s Magpies side who themselves are under new management with Jose Maria Fernandez Sanchez at the helm. He has a vast experience in coaching teams in the Gibraltar National League and with a number of new signings in this transfer window, they put up a very good performance against St. Joseph’s in their last game despite the result not going their way in the end. We are hopeful we can keep the momentum and continue where we left off in the last game in order to take the three points on offer today.

In the Intermediate League, our Under23 team walked away with an 11-2 win against College 1975 with a very solid performance from our youngsters. Full credit to the College youngsters who, despite the result, kept on battling until the final whistle. I must congratulate College 1975 for their positive attitude all throughout the game. Our Women played Lions Gibraltar FC on Wednesday evening for the fourth time this season and managed to secure a point with just eight players on the field due to injury. It was a great achievement from our girls and they still remain top of the League, nine points clear of Lions and with just nine points to play for. On a final note, both Joseph and Roy Chipolina underwent surgery on Monday evening and first reports are very positive in that both surgeries were a success. We wish both players a very speedy recovery. Enjoy today’s game… DYLAN VIAGAS President

REVIEW

LINCOLN RED IMPS 5 LYNX 0 GIBRALTAR NATIONAL LEAGUE – 18.01.2020

LINCOLN Red Imps started the Championship Group stage of the season in fine style with a commanding 5-0 victory over Lynx. Whilst we were very much in control of the opening exchanges of the game, we had to wait patiently until the 38th minute when Julian Del Rio opened the scoring. We were able to double our advantage just past the hourmark when Del Rio was on hand to notch his second goal. Within a couple of minutes it was 3-0 as Bernardo Lopes found the net before Kike added a fourth goal just six minutes later. In what was a measured performance as we played with a good tempo and created plenty of opportunities, it was rather fitting that the scoring was complete late on when Del Rio made it a hat-trick for him and a 5-0 triumph for the team. LINCOLN RED IMPS: Goldwin, Lopes, L. Casciaro, Gil, Toscano, Molina (Yahaya 53), Perez, Kike (Pibe 75), Coombes, Del Rio (Hernandez 82), Ramon. Subs not used: Soler, Alvarez, K. Casciaro, Cataruozzolo. BOOKING(S): GOALS(S): Del Rio (3), Lopes, Kike IMAGES: Neil Wilson.

ROUND UP

UNDER-23s: RESOUNDING WIN OUR Under-23s were commanding 112 winners against College 1975 on Monday evening. With three senior team players making a welcome return from injury in Yahaha, Hernandez and Pibe, we proved too strong for our opponents during the first half and went in at the break seven goals to the good. The second half allowed Head Coach, Malcolm Martin, to make a number of player rotations and try out a few different things as we ran out convincing winners to remain top of the Intermediate League table and undefeated all season. WOMEN: GIRLS BATTLE OUT A POINT WITH just eight players on the field due to injury and in difficult conditions, our girls managed to battle out a point from a 1-1 draw with Lions Gibraltar on Wednesday evening. Lions took the lead in the 17th minute, but our girls managed to equalise early in the second half when Alex Holt latched onto an intelligent ball to the far post from Tiffy Viagas. Pure determination and valour was to follow from our girls, defending the result until the end to maintain our nine-point lead at the top of the table as we look to secure the title for the fourth consecutive year. UNDER-16s: THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT IN THE Under-16 Youth League, both our teams played each other on Wednesday afternoon. A totally different ball game to their previous encounter, Charlie Cumbo’s younger boys this time gave our older boys a game to be proud of. With plenty of opportunities being created by both teams, Malcolm Martin’s team managed to edge the game by two goals to one. It was agreed at the end with the performances from both sets of players that the future looks bright! 08 OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME OF THE LINCOLN RED IMPS

theVERDICT GERMAN CRESPO

The Head Coach assesses his first game at the helm… OUR MATCH against Lynx last weekend was a game that I saw many positive indicators in many aspects of our play. With just over two weeks to prepare, I think the players have quickly captured and adapted to the style and philosophy of play that I want to bring into the team. We managed to impose our tempo on the game throughout the 90 minutes, applying a lot of pressure to our opponents and creating a lot of scoring opportunities. This was evident as I think their ‘keeper was their best player on the day. Overall, I am very happy with the commitment, determination and attitude displayed by the players throughout the game. I am delighted with the versatile squad I have with plenty of quality in all positions. If we are capable of continuing with this workrate until the end of the season, I am convinced we can achieve our objectives. We are aware that Bruno’s Magpies are going to go out and try to complicate matters for us today, exactly as they did last week against St. Joseph’s. Their new Head Coach has instilled in his players a very positive attitude

that they were capable of maintaining throughout the whole game. Honestly, I am not one to fear or look too much into our opponents. I am a believer that we need to look and analyse ourselves; what we do and how we do it and how we can continue improving and strengthening the team in every aspect. There are some issues that we want to improve from last week and to just to mention one, was that we created a lot of scoring opportunities but did not manage to materialise those opportunities in more goals. I am very happy with the manner things have progressed this week and the work put in by the squad in preparation for this game. If we continue with the momentum and put on the same performance this week as we did last week, I am think we can walk away with the three points. Enjoy the game… GERMAN CRESPO Head Coach OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME OF THE LINCOLN RED IMPS 11
