WELCOME BACK AGAIN TO THE VICTORIA STADIUM FOR OUR SIXTH LEAGUE GAME OF THE SEASON AGAINST MONS CALPE.
I think we can all agree that we put in an extremely solid performance against Lynx on Monday; we were solid in defence and lethal in attack to secure three points against opponents that were previously unbeaten. It’s also good to see our injured players trickling back to full fitness. A few games ago it was Lee and on Monday it was Kike’s turn to return to the field of play after the injury he sustained in the UEFA Europa League tie against Ararat back in July. More importantly he also got on the scoresheet within the first two minutes of the game and that will help get his confidence back and boost his moral. My upmost appreciation needs to go out to all our Medical Team; Dr. Gracia, Keith Ramirez, Adam Oria and Liam Mesilio, for all the hard work and dedication in getting our players to full fitness in the shortest time possible. A group of individuals whose professionalism and work many times go un-noticed but assuredly play a very important role in the club. Today we face Mons Calpe a team that so far this season appears to have had their ups and downs, going by the results they have had so far. We hope we can continue our momentum and add another three points to our tally. In other areas, our Women’s team beat Europa 62 on Wednesday evening with a very good performance in the first half. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the Football Association’s initiative to give women’s football on The Rock more exposure with TV coverage and interviews in an attempt to further promote the game and attract more young players to take up the sport. Unfortunately, there is no youth
football this weekend due to mid-term, but this will not deprive us from continuing playing football with many training sessions planned and a few friendly games already organised. DYLAN VIAGAS President Looking back at our last game, I felt that we started well and getting the goal early on helped us to settle down quickly. For 35 minutes of the game we were the better team, after that we lost a few balls in dangerous areas that meant we lost the control of the game that we had. We lost the momentum in attack, but the positive thing was that we managed to remain well organised at the back and restricted our opponents to very few opportunities. The second goal just before half-time, which was a spectacular free-kick from Ethan Britto, gave us the calmness required for the second half, which was a different ball game. We opted to sit tight at the back and counter attack at every opportunity. Our game plan worked almost to perfection. They hardly created any scoring chances, and even though we scored two more goals in the second half, I left with the feeling we could have scored more due to the amount of opportunities we created. We were happy to get the three points against a difficult team, who it is no surprise to see near the top of the table.

What are your views from our previous game: The first goal came in the first couple of minutes and that worked in our favour. We managed to keep our lines close and tight and managed to create plenty of our counter-attacks playing into space. I don’t think they created many opportunities and to be honest we could have scored a few more goals.
What can we expect from Lincoln this season: Like always, determined and playing to our maximum. What advice would you give to young kids who want to do well in football: To work hard and to stay strong in those bad moments when they come. What can we expect from Lincoln in this game: It’s going to be another hard game; Mons Calpe are a hard-working team that are going to try and make the game difficult for us. LINCOLN Red Imps were able to extend our unbeaten run with a 4-0 victory over the previously Lynx. We started the game well and took the lead within the opening two minutes courtesy of a goal from the returning Kike. Whilst we weren’t able to grab hold of the game as much as we would have liked to, we were able to double our advantage just before half-time when Ethan Britto curled home a sweet free-kick. It gave us a boost for the second half and it wasn’t long after the restart that Ramon was able to make it 3-0 before Kike got his second goal of the game with 53 minutes on the clock. Credit to our opponents because they refused to let their heads drop, however, we looked solid in defence to restrict them to very few opportunities as we claimed a good three points. WOMEN’S TEAM
WOMEN’S TEM RUN OUT WORTHY WINNERS… OUR WOMEN’S team were back in action on Wednesday against Europa FC in their second League game of the season. Our 6-2 victory took our girls to the top of the table with six points out of a possible six. We started the game well and found ourselves in front early on when a neat passage of play ended with 15 year-old Poppy Hall drive the ball home from within the six-yard box. Two further goals in the 25th and 35th minutes from Shania Robba put us firmly into the driving seat going into the break. The second half started with our opponents pushing extra players forward in search of a way back into the game and our back-line and goalkeeper had to be alert on a number of occasions to keep them at bay. They did manage to reduce the arrears on 56 minutes but within four minutes Robba had completed her hat-trick with a breakaway goal. It was turning into an end-to-end encounter with chances at either end and Europa added another goal to their tally before Robba netted again to make it 5-2. With just under 20 minutes to go, Robba was on target again for her fifth goal of the game and that was to be the end of a scoring in an entertaining encounter. It was a great performance from our girls who fully deserved the points and now with no game this week, we start preparing for our next game against Lions Gibraltar, who are sure to provide us with a tough test.

FOOTBALL GIBRALTAR CAUGHT UP WITH MONS CALPE MIDFIELDER, JARON VINET, TO GET HIS THOUGHTS ON HIS SIDES RECENT VICTORY OVER BRUNO’S MAGPIES, HIS AIMS FOR TOP SIX AND MORE.
It was three quick-fire goals which saw Mons Calpe take the points against Magpies in their last game and the win puts them in good heart going into today’s encounter. “I feel the team played well, especially after our recent run of results in the lead up to it,” admitted Vinet, who has been a regular in the side this term and has weighed in with a couple of goals and assists. “Our aim was always to finish in the top six; after getting off to a bad start, we are working on turning things around and finish where we aimed to be at the start of the season. “The players are working hard as a group and from a personal point of view, I feel that I am improving with each

MONS CALPE SC: A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY THE CLUB was formed in 2013 and in their first season finished as runners-up in the second division, but lost in the play-offs.
They were unable to build upon it during the following campaign as they found themselves in eighth place and this led to a rebuilding of the club during the summer of 2015. It worked as this time they made the play-offs and won through to claim their place in the top-flight. More big changes both on and off-the-field were to follow as the club consolidated their place in the first division, ending the season in a respectable fifth place. 2017/18 was a season of two halves as they started slowly but hit form in the second half of the campaign to finish on 44 points and also reach the Final of the Rock Cup, as they lost to Europa by two goals to one. Last term saw them struggle once more in the opening weeks but they went on to claim fourth place, just missing out on European qualification, and also reaching the semifinal of the Rock Cup. In the new National League set-up they have started with three wins, two draws and two defeats from their opening seven League games.
