WELCOME
THEPRESIDENT I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO WELCOME YOU ALL TO WHAT IS AN HISTORIC NIGHT HERE AT VICTORIA STADIUM AS A GIBRALTARIAN CLUB COMPETES IN THE GROUP STAGES OF A MAJOR EUROPEAN CLUB COMPETITION FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME. We are extremely proud and honoured to be here. It has been a long journey with plenty of blood, sweat and tears along the way and now our intention is to give it everything we’ve got and do ourselves, our families and the people of Gibraltar proud. This is the first year that the UEFA Europa Conference League competition has taken place and it is with great pride that we go into Group F alongside today’s opponents, PAOK, Copenhagen and Slovan Bratislava, who we have already met on our European adventure this season. We know that each game will present a great challenge to us, but we are looking forward to pitting our wits on this stage and showing everyone what we are capable of. The recent play-off game against Riga FC is an occasion that will live long in the memory of us all. After doing so well to secure a draw in the away leg and then coming back from a goal down here to get in front, I couldn’t watch the final five minutes of extra-time, I was so nervous, but it was a massive achievement for the
club and Gibraltar as a whole. It was great to see the numbers inside the stadium. The fans were terrific; they played a big part in the win and were behind the team every step of the way. You can be sure that we are going to need this kind of backing this evening and in the matches that lie ahead. The celebrations that followed the victory over Riga FC have certainly whetted the appetite for more of the same and we will go into each group game determined to enjoy the occasion and play without pressure. Let’s hear you in good voice throughout today’s game and together we can make more memories. Finally, I would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone connected to our opponents before wishing them a safe journey home afterwards. Thank you for your valued support this evening. Enjoy the game… DYLAN VIAGAS President

WELCOME BACK TO VICTORIA STADIUM FOR THIS HISTORIC FIRST UEFA EUROPA CONFERENCE LEAGUE GROUP GAME AS WE TAKE ON PAOK.
I still don’t think that the achievement has sunk in yet; being a humble club from Gibraltar where expectations have typically been quite low, our performances in Europe so far this season have inspired plenty of good feeling towards the club. Hopefully we can repay everyone’s faith and support when we step out onto the field in these forthcoming group games. We start with PAOK, who will be a formidable opponent, like all of our previous matches. We will be massive underdogs and we know that we will have to be at our very best to be able to compete.
That said, we are at home and that is a factor which works in our favour. Of course, we will be
respectful of the strengths and quality of our opponents, but we also know that we have the ability to create our own moments and we will be doing all we can to get a positive result.
We are glad that our GFA players have returned to the group and the experience that they have all gained will again prove to be invaluable in the kind of scenarios that we, as a club, are going to face in the weeks and months ahead. May I welcome everyone associated with PAOK FC before wishing them a safe journey home afterwards. Thank you for your valued support. Enjoy the game… MICK

HAVING opened the scoring from the penalty spot and then provided an assist for the second goal in our 3-1 victory over Riga FC last month, which secured our historic qualification for the UEFA Europa Conference League group stages, talented midfielder, Liam Walker, has spoken about the fantastic achievement.
INTERVIEW
“To make it through to the group stages is a dream come true,” said the one-time Portsmouth man who has returned to Lincoln this season. “It’s been a long summer of hard work from everyone at the club, but the effort has been well worth it.

“The challenge that we faced against Riga wasn’t easy, but we had belief in ourselves – we knew that we could do it. “On a personal note it was nice to get on the scoresheet and also have an assist, but the most important thing was that we won the game, which we did.
. . . To make it through to the group stages is a dream come true; it’s been a long summer of hard work from everyone at the club, but the effort has been well worth it. . . “We can’t wait for the group stages to get underway this evening; it is a challenge that we face with relish and determination to do ourselves and everyone who has supported us proud. “Each game will be tough in its own way, but we will be hoping to make home advantage count to get off to a positive start today and then take things from there. “The backing that we have received has been fantastic. To see the stadium so full gave us even more motivation and we hope to see even more fans at our group matches. “Your support means so much to us.”

THE EUROPEAN STORY SO FAR
THE STORYSO FAR
MARK RODRIGUEZ TAKES A LOOK AT OUR EUROPEAN JOURNEY TO DATE ON JULY 6th we embarked on our European journey. First to Luxembourg, where we rediscovered the sweet taste of victory in the second leg at home. That 5-0 second leg win over CS Fola Esch fuelled our desire for more. Our UEFA Champions League run ended shortly after in our clash with Cluj, with a series of matches resulting in unjust scores and a poor reflection of our true performance. A similar story can be told against Slovan Bratislava in preliminary round three of our UEFA Europa League matchup. Three chances at goal is all the visitors needed to take the 3-1 win, however we produced an excellent statistical performance on the night with more chances created and shots at goal than our opponents. Sadly our hands couldn’t quite reach the last Pringle in the can. We took the solid performance to Bratislava in the second leg to seek a last minute equaliser ending in a 1-1 tie. Despite our losses, and having played six promising matches already, we looked ahead to our matchup against Riga FC
for the UEFA Europa Conference League play-off with ambition and determination, thinking ‘yes we can’. We walked away with a positive result despite not having played our best football on the night.
they can to find their only chance of staying in the competition. Their efforts left them exposed which allowed us to capitalise and find the third and final goal of the night to seal the win. History written.
Bringing home a 1-1 tie from the first leg, it was all to play for at home. We analysed our mistakes, as well as theirs, and looked to capitalise. We took an early blow when Riga took the lead 17 minutes into the first half.
All-in-all an exciting and positive preliminary competition. A total of eight games played and 14 goals between them. Eight different goal-scorers throughout; 10 home goals scored and four away.
With our heads high, we pulled ourselves back into the battle. Liam Walker stepped up to the spot and converted a penalty to bring one back 11. The score held, taking the game into extra-time. It wasn’t until the captain himself, Roy Chipolina, came on as a substitute to take us into the lead.
Today we look forward to our head-tohead with PAOK. We look ahead to new experiences competing against top opponents at a higher level, and against Slovan Bratislava for a shot at redemption.
The stadium came to life after a soaring header inside the box on the receiving end of a corner resulted in wild celebrations. However, there was a still a 15-minute second half to play with victory balancing at 2-1. Now on the offensive, Riga FC pushed their men forward doing everything
Having already made our mark, we push to deliver and enjoy knowing nothing is lost from this point onwards. The breakdown is as follows: GAMES PLAYED: 8 GOALS SCORED: 14 10 AT HOME AND 4 AWAY GOALS CONCEDED: 12 GOALSCORERS: Carra, Britto , De Barr, Walker, Kian, Marco, Kike, Roy

A LATE goal from Kian Ronan put the cherry on top of icing on the cake to confirm our progression into the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage at the expense of Riga FC as we won 3-1 on the night to go through 4-2 on aggregate.
INTERVIEW
Ronan found the net right at the end of extra-time for our team of heroes. “It was an absolutely incredible night for everyone involved with Lincoln Red Imps,” he said with a sparkle in his eyes. “To qualify for the group stages in European competition is something that nobody could have dreamt when the club was formed and now it’s become a reality. “We’ve been training, playing and travelling for the past eight weeks and everything came together perfectly on the night.
KIAN RONAN
MEMORIES ARE MADE OF THIS
“After securing such a positive result away from home, we were all confident that we could get the job done at Victoria Stadium, in front of the fans.
“To qualify for the group stages in European competition is something that nobody could have dreamt when the club was formed and now it’s become a reality…”
“The support we have received throughout the whole European campaign has been phenomenal and the turnout on the night was something special. “The fans really pushed us over the line in extra-time and, I know it’s a cliché, but they really were our 12th man. “The whole occasion just felt right and that it was meant to be for us. Especially with Roy coming on and doing what he does best, stepping forward when it mattered most for Lincoln and Gibraltar. “Personally, I’ve had to wait for my opportunities this summer, but I’ve always been ready whenever called upon to do a job for the team. I was warming up at half-time and didn’t go on until the first half of extra-time. “To go on and get the final goal was a surreal feeling and something that’s really hard to put into words. Seeing the reaction of all of the fans and boys running onto the pitch was something I’ll never forget. “With the draw we’ve been given for the group stages, who knows what could happen. We’ve got this far, so why should we stop dreaming now? We know we’re going to be up against tough opposition, but we’ll prepare accordingly and give everything we have, as we always do.”

Chipolina who made no mistake. It sparked wild celebrations, but we still had the second period to face and in what was a nervy 15 minutes, we had to defend resolutely.
It was a memorable evening at Victoria Stadium as we overcame the challenge of Riga FC to secure a 3-1 victory on the night and a 4-2 win on aggregate to reach the group stages of European competition for the first-ever time. Having battled out a 1-1 draw from the first leg, we went into the game with plenty of belief and our cause was helped by a large and vocal crowd. With so much at stake, we made a nervy opening as our opponents came out of the blocks the brighter of the two sides and they took the lead in the 19th minute when Soisalo found Vakulko who was able to guide the ball home. Rather than let our heads drop, we set about the task of getting back into the game and after Rosa had seen an effort blocked, we were able to level matters just past the half-hour mark when Walker fired home from the penalty spot. Both teams were battling hard to earn the right to progress into the group
As our opponents pushed men forward in search of an all-important second goal, we managed to hit them on the counter-attack with just seconds remaining and Ronan fired home to seal the game and create history for the club and Gibraltar football as a whole. The celebrations that followed went on long into the night! stages and there was little to choose between them as the game went on. Walker was unlucky as he rattled the woodwork before Lopes did the same as we attempted to up the pressure. The scoreline remained at 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes, as it was in the first leg, so the game went into extra-time and right at the end of the opening period, Walker’s cross found the head of captain

GOALKEEPER, Lolo Soler, is looking forward to our UEFA Europa Conference League Group matches getting underway this evening.
INTERVIEW
The first challenge comes in the form of Greek outfit, PAOK, this evening before we head to Denmark to take on Copenhagen later this month in our opening two group games. “We are facing something unique for Gibraltar,” he said. “It is an honour to reach this stage of a European competition and we want to be able to give a good account of ourselves.
LOLO SOLER
BUILDING ON SUCCESS
“We have sweated a lot to get into this position and now we want to show what we can do. “Because of the calibre of opponent that we will be facing, our level has to be very high in every moment of every game but I am 100% sure that we will give our opponents some surprises.
“This summer has been my most memorable and enjoyable and I now want to be able to build upon it and enjoy more success…”
“We will be the underdogs, of course, and we will be looking to play without fear or pressure. This combined with the support of the fans can help us get the results that we crave. “This summer has been my most memorable and enjoyable and I now want to be able to build upon it and enjoy more success. “The challenge ahead is something that we all have to embrace and hopefully there will be more special moments to come for us.”

Their home is the Toumba Stadium, a 29,000-capacity ground which has been upgraded in recent times to meet added demands. However, plans have been announced to build a new stadium with a capacity of over 40,000 by the year 2026.
Their best European performance was in the 1973–74 season, when they reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. PAOK is the only Greek team that has more wins than losses in their European record (74 wins, 59 draws and 71 defeats) and the 7-0 away win over Locomotive Tbilisi on 16 September 1999 in the UEFA Cup is the largest ever achieved by a Greek football club in all European football competitions.
This is his second spell at the club. His first began in 2017 when he was lured from fellow Greek Super League club, Skida Xanthi who he guided to the first Greek Cup Final in their history.
Finishing as runners-up in the top-flight Super League at the end of last term, they have won the title three times, in 1976, 1985 and 2019, whilst they are eight-time winners of the Greek Cup (1972, 1974, 2001, 2003, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021). His first season at the club saw them fail to reach the group stages of the UEFA Europa League for the first time in five years and they were also involved in controversy following ugly scenes during their game with AEK Athens which saw the League suspended for a time and as well as a points deduction which saw them miss out on the title. They did win the Greek Cup as some consolation but things were much better domestically in 2018-19 as they won their first League title in 34 years, without losing a game along the way. ONE TO WATCH | DIEGO BISESWAR The Dutch-born midfielder joined the renowned Ajax Academy at the age of six but after five years he decided to continue his football education at his first club, DWS. He then joined Telstar before being signed by Feyenoord in 2001. His performances earned him a first professional contract in 2004 and his senior chances soon followed as Ruud Gullit gave him his first taste of firstteam football. Two seasons on loan at Heracles and another loan spell at De Graafschap saw him gain plenty of competitive experience before he returned to his
parent club and established himself as a vital cog in the team. The likes of Sheffield United, Ajax and Valencia CF all expressed an interest in signing him, but his next port of call was Turkey with Kayserispor after over 100 games for Feyenoord. He was to spend four years at the club, making 118 appearances for the club before joining PAOK in the summer of 2016. A technically-gifted and hard-working performer who has been capped by The Netherlands at various youth levels and also B level, he will be looking to pull the strings in the engine room.

MAJOR ACHIEVEMENT
The accomplished Gibraltar International returned to the club last year and helped us secure a League and Cup double in 2020/21 with some reliable displays. “We knew what a huge game it was going into the second leg against Riga,” he said. “We knew that we had to be at the very top of our game in order to get the job done. “Thankfully everyone played their part to make history. “Being the first Gibraltar club to qualify for European group stages is incredible, not just for the club but for Gibraltar football in general.
