WELCOME
WELCOME BACK TO THE VICTORIA STADIUM FOR OUR FOURTH LEAGUE GAME OF THE SEASON AGAINST LIONS GIBRALTAR FC. This will be our last game before the international break and we shall not be back at the Stadium, until the 24th October when return to play against Lynx FC. Our performance in our last League match against College 1975, I think was a follow on from our previous game against Glacis United, where we were very wellorganised all over the pitch and created many scoring opportunities. It was also good to see some of our international players get some well-deserved rest ahead of this game against Lions. Today we play Lions Gibraltar, a club that has my highest respect, especially for all the hard work they do in their youth setup. They are a club that focuses and dedicate a lot of their resources in developing young players for the betterment of local football. As for their senior team, we need not to underestimate them. I think they have had a good start to the season but for one reason or another, the results have not gone in their favour. I think they do merit to be higher up the table, hence why I say we should not underestimate them. We definitely need to walk out onto the pitch focussed and concentrated from the first minute. As for our under-23s, again we had another successful 4-0 win against Hound Dogs. With an average age of just under 17 years of age, our young boys performed remarkably well for a richly-deserved victory and to consolidate themselves at the top of the Intermediate League. As for our Women and Youths teams, I am delighted to see that all our teams are in full swing and training hard in preparation for their respective Leagues. Being the last programme until after the International break, I would like to take this opportunity to wish not only our senior national team all the best for the upcoming games but also to the Under-19 National
Team who are travelling to Chinese Taipei to compete in a UEFA-organised tournament. I must also thank all our coaches who gave their time this weekend to complete and revalidate their coaching qualifications as per GFA requirements. Well done all. DYLAN VIAGAS President Ten days ago we saw the senior team return to the domestic competition after the International break with five out of our six internationals in the starting line-up to face College 1975. The game went as expected with Lincoln dominating from start to finish with 9-1 score in our favour and another three points to help us climb the League table. The game contributed towards the players getting into the competitive rhythm and both Joseph Chipolina and Anthony Hernandez, who came off the bench in the second half, got their first goals of the season. Sergio Molina scored his second consecutive hat-trick and Antonio Rincon “Gato” also scored three with an impressive performance down the right wing. The Lincoln giant Ide Gomes also got his name on the scoresheet as he opened the flood gates in the first ten minutes of the match. On an even happier note we also saw the return from injury of Lee Casciaro; he looks hungrier and fitter than ever. Lee’s return is welcomed by the coaching staff as he will give us more options in attack for today’s match. Lions FC are a team who are getting stronger by the weeks and are going to be a tough opposition, as they proved in their last match by taking a 1-1 draw against Mons Calpe.

What can we expect from Lincoln this season: We want to win the League again and then try to progress further in European competition.
Hobbies: Listen to Music Previous Clubs: Real BalonpedicaLinense Favourite Food: Seafood Paella
What advice would you give to young kids who want to do well in football: They need to make every effort to learn, especially when given the opportunity to train with the senior team, and if they really love the sport they need to work for it every day. At the same time they need to work on their school education as no matter how good they think they are, there are no guarantees that you will be able to live just on football.
Best Experience in football: During my football career I have had many good and satisfying experiences but I think to play Champions League qualifiers tops it all. Worst experience: None, I enjoy all my involvement in football. Where do you see yourself in the next few years: I want to become a Police Officer Mention a player you admire (pro, semi-pro or amateur): Luca Modric
What can we expect from Lincoln in this game: Like in every game that we play, the other teams always play to their maximum against us and try and make the game difficult for us and
today I am sure is not going to be any different. We need to be on our toes and concentrated from beginning and throughout the game in order to win the game. What are your views from our previous game: I think we played well and applied the necessary intensity to take the three points against a team that came out to try and make life difficult for us from the start. The good thing is we did our job and the game went to plan. QUICK-FIRE TO FINISH... Worst Dressed Player: Fede Best Dressed Player: Lee

LINCOLN RED IMPS 9 COLLEGE 1975 1 GIBRALTAR NATIONAL LEAGUE – 19.09.2019
HAVING scored eight goals in our previous game, we were able to go one better on this occasion as we found the net nine times against College 1975, although our opponents did manage to score a consolation goal. We opened the scoring on ten minutes when the giant frame of Gomes was able to find the net. As our opponents got men behind the ball in order to frustrate us, we had to wait until the half-hour mark for Gato to double our advantage. It was the same player who added a third goal right on the stroke of half time to give us a 3-0 lead at the interval. Molina was on the mark just seven minutes into the second half and Anthony Hernandez came off the bench to put us five up on the hourmark. Our opponents were able to pull a goal back shortly afterwards but it was a mere consolation as within minutes Molina found the net again and then completed his second hat-trick in a row with a quarter-of-an-hour to go. Not to be outdone, Gato completed his hat-trick seconds later and then Joseph Chipolina weighed in with his first goal of the season to complete the scoring on 81 minutes. Try as we might, we could not make double figures, but it was a welcome three points. LINCOLN RED IMPS: Goldwin, J. Chipolina, Alvarez (Gil 55), R. CHARITY EFFORTS
AS WELL as participating in last weekend’s 24-hour marathon organised by Cancer Research UK Gibraltar Branch, assistant coach, Danny Segovia, took it one step further as his action-packed week also saw him abseil down one of the tallest buildings in Euro-Towers to raise funds for the same organisation. “Although I am smiling in the photograph, after they kit you all up and place you on the ledge of the building, the last thing you want to do is smile,” he admitted. “But I had to make the effort for the camera! “There was certainly a mixture of emotions; from the adrenaline pumping to excitement and anxiety, but overall it was a really worthwhile experience and more importantly, it was such a good cause. “Having done it once, I would certainly do it again!” Days later, Danny was again on the charity trail, although this time in a safer environment as he presented a signed Lincoln Red Imps shirt to the Gibraltar Alzheimer’s and Dementia Society for it to be auctioned at the Dementia Awareness Purple Ball on September 30th at Boyds, Kings Bastion. For further information on the Dementia Awareness Purple Ball, please email: Karen.truman@careagency.gov.gi
Tickets are available from the 6th Floor in Mount Alvernia or Boyds at Kings Bastion. Club President, Dylan Viagas said: “We all know what Gibraltar is like when it comes to Charity Events; we all go out of our way to help in whatever way we can. “I would like to personally thank Danny for choosing to do the events representing our club. He is not only an integral part of the senior team, but he also has other important responsibilities within the club structure, together with his day-to-day job and how he manages to find time for all this Charity events is simply worthy and admirable. “Well done Danny and thank you on behalf of the Lincoln Family.” We would also like to say a big well done to all members of the Lincoln Family who took part in the 24-hour Relay for Life Marathon at Victoria Stadium. We are delighted that funds were raised for such a worthy cause in Cancer Research UK Gibraltar Branch. A massive congratulations also goes out to the Relay For Life Gibraltar Committee for organising yet another successful charity event.

A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY... The club was founded in 1966 on the back of the euphoria of England winning the World Cup. The club merged with Gibraltar United in 2011 and marriage which lasted three years before both clubs went their separate ways once again. Consistently competing in the top-flight, they finished fourth in 2015/16 in the wake of new owners taking over, but as they came and went, the club has not enjoyed such heights in recent years and finished ninth last term. They are a club that likes to give youth a chance with a clear pathway for local youngsters to progress.
