Visualization 3 Project 00 Mini Project

3

1

Project 00 was meant to teach about the digital modeling program Rhino 7. The goal was to creat 3 random objects, starting from 3 basic shapes. Each object had at least 10 steps in order to get to the end shape.

This project of course taught me how to use Rhino 7, but it also taught me other lessons. It showed how important iterations are, because I went through several interations of the shapes to get to the end goal. This project forced me to be creative in my designs because no step was repeated. This project was the foundation for other projects throughout the semester.

Visualization 3 Project 1 A Small Space

7

2

Project 1 was about replicating an existing small space. After using Rhino to make a detailed model, I was introduced to the Enscape rendering program. The small space I chose was a newly developed PHA Rowhouse that will be built in Sharswood, Philadelphia.

Project 1 was fun, but involved a lot of work that I didn’t initially expect. Creating the small detailts in Rhino takes a lot of time, as well as adding the materials for Ensacpe. Utilizing Enscape also helped with other projects throughout the semester.

Design 3 Project 3

3

The third project for Design 3 was the first time I was introduced to a real client. This project involved taking information from clients and designing a new home for their wants and needs. Analysis of the site and choosing the right location was also required for this project. My design class then had to create an animation showcasing the whole project.

This was one of my favorite design projects this year. This was one of my first projects that seemed like an actual architecture project. The animation came out great and successfully convinced the client for this house.

Design 3 Project 4

Project 4 in Design 3 was similar to the last project. It still involved site analysis and developing a project based on wants and needs of a community. Instead of a rowhouse, this project moves to a more macro scale and creates a community center. Just like the rest of my design projects, this also required an animation. I thouroughly enjoyed this project because I felt like I was solving the problems of a less fortunate community of Sharswood.

I really enjoyed this project because I analyzed a community, identified the issues within it, and solved those issues. A challenge I faced was how I could connect my ideas into an actual building, while also blending it in with the surroundings of the Athletic Recreation Center. This project taught me to think of others while designing in order to help an entire community.

Tech 1 Project 1 Structures

The first Tech project involved making a bridge out of basswood sticks and string. The purpose was to test how much weight the bridge could hold before it breaks to better understand tension and compression forces.

In the end, the project was successful and my bridge was able to hold 17 pounds before snapping. Even after the bridge collapsed, it was still in good shape and was easy to understand how it failed. This was my first project that helped me understand the structure of buildings.

Biography I grew up in a small town of Berwick, Pennsylvania. I’ve always been into architecture, but once I took classes in high school, I knew I wanted to go to college for architecture. Since I’ve been a student at Thomas Jefferson University, architecture has been a tough road, but fun at the same time. Over the time I’ve been here, I’ve grown to like it more and more as projects begin to be in a more realistic scenario. I learned so much already, but I have much more to learn and experience. I’ve been able to have great professors in my short three semesters, and they’ve been integral in my architecture career. I look forward to continuing my architecture career at TJU.
