Old Westbury Gardens Announces Reopening

V

Timed tickets now on sale for season

isitors have a lot to look forward to this season at the world-renowned Old Westbury Gardens. The gardens have reopened to the public with required reservations, which can be made in advance online. In addition to 200 acres of formal gardens, landscaped grounds, woodlands, ponds and lakes to enjoy, the Old Westbury Gardens team is offering a series of new, captivating programs to engage visitors’ horticultural, artistic and historic passions. The line-up will kick-off in June with a brandnew inaugural Garden Days event, followed by the launch of The Great Pine Railway at Old Westbury Gardens, and made complete by the return of the popular Poetica Musica Concert series. “It has been an unprecedented year, but, we’ve all come to find comfort in the outdoors, and especially beautiful Gardens,” said Nancy Costopulos, President and CEO of Old Westbury Gardens. “We are thrilled to welcome guests back, and we are looking forward to launching our new special weekend event to bring garden lovers together to share in the love and knowledge of gardening.” From Friday, June 11 through Sunday, June 13, Old Westbury Gardens will host its first-ever Garden Days event. On Saturday, the Gardens will feature an exclusive collection of vendors from across the Northeast. In addition, noted designer Christopher Spitzmiller will be signing his new book, A Year at Clove Brook Farm: Gardening, Tending Flocks, Keeping Bees, Collecting Antiques, and Entertaining Friends. Visitors will have access to unique and rare perennials and annuals, unusual exotics and container specialties, decorative

garden furniture, urns, statuary and horticultural curiosities. Regional garden enthusiasts who attend will discover innovative trends in horticulture and ornamental gardening. Exclusive tours of private gardens of the North Shore will also be available on Sunday, June 13, with more information available in the coming weeks. Another brand-new exhibit coming this season will be The Great Pine Railway at Old Westbury Gardens, which arrives on Saturday, June 19. Visitors of all ages will be amazed by the outdoor G-gauge railroad display, featuring exquisite model trains chugging along a landscaped backdrop. The exhibit will be complete with an artful replica of Westbury House and other iconic Long Island country homes, created specifically for Old Westbury Gardens. The attraction will run through Monday, September 6, and be included with the price of admission. “We’re incredibly excited to

welcome The Great Pine Railway at Old Westbury Gardens. I think visitors will really enjoy the stunning trains, and especially the replica of Westbury House. It’s the perfect attraction to have outdoors this season, and we’re pleased to offer something visitors can really look forward to after a scaled-back season last year,” added Costopulos. Lastly, visitors will be pleased by the return of the popular Poetica Musica Concert series. On Saturday, May 22 at 7 p.m., Just We Three will perform the works of Bach, Mozart and Durufle, followed by Serenade of Strings, set to perform the works of Dvorak and Borodin on Saturday, June 5 at 7 p.m. Tickets for both concerts are $20 for students, seniors and members, and $25 for general admission. Tickets must be purchased online in advance, with limited supply available. While visitors will have unlimited access to the Gardens this season, Westbury House will reopen June 1. Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams Launches Its First Outdoor Collection BY ANTON MEDIA STAFF

enowned for its commitment to comfort, American manufacturing and sustainability since 1989, furniture and home decor brand Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams is honored to introduce its first-ever outdoor collection. “It has been a dream of mine to extend our product line outside because having a beautiful and comfortable outdoor living space means so much to me personally,” said Co-founder and President of Design Bob Williams. “For many years, interior designers and our customers have asked us for this, and we felt now was the time to bring our point of view on this area of the home into being. The premium handcrafted pieces are sophisticated and aimed at those seeking more from their pool, lounge and dining spaces. “As our homes increasingly become seamless multi-functional spaces, the outdoor area is now as important as any room in the house in being a place of connection, engagement and gratitude for

everything that defines comfort,” said Allison O’Connor, president and CEO. “Homes are conscious expressions of life and carry deeply important meaning for the people who live in them.” The collection encompasses two styles, each with 11 pieces: the beautifully curved Del Mar in sustainable premium-grade weathered solid teak and the clean-lined Bauhausinfluenced Sanibel in handcrafted cast aluminum. For seating, generous ultra-comfortable cushions in easy-care European Performance Fabrics are available in a choice of eight nature-inspired hues. Rounding out the collection are American-made umbrellas, outdoor pillows from MG+BW and Sunbrella with outdoor furniture covers to protect your investment. “Our intention with MG+BW Outdoor is to create serene and luxurious exterior

living spaces that connect people with the natural world, inspiring them to savor time outside and grounding them in the beauty and comfort of priceless moments spent in peace and with loved ones,” said O’Connor. “We see our entry into the outdoor category as a natural extension of our brand, which is built around the definition of comfort.” The collection launched on March 29 on the brand’s website (www.mgbwhome.com), and will be presented in signature stores on April 26. “We have carefully curated the collection to ensure each piece is intentionally designed for comfort, elegance and easy care that are crafted from premium materials that stand the test of time,” said Williams.
