Employment Opportunity Hicksville Water District Water Plant Attendant The Hicksville Water District is seeking highly motivated individuals to work full time in the water industry. The position is an entry level position working in the field repairing mains or at the water treatment facilities. The individual will perform a wide variety of semi-skilled and unskilled manual tasks. The candidate will be expected to work after hours on emergency repairs and maintenance.

Typical duties include performing tasks involving physical labor at building, roadway and plant sites. May operate hand and power tools of all types and a variety of other equipment and instruments. May clean and prepare work sites, dig trenches, clean-up work debris and assist other workers. Other duties may include cleaning water treatment plants, delivering and working with chemicals, performing general maintenance and other related activities.

The individual must be a high school graduate, possess a valid New York State Driver’s License and willing to work days, nights, weekends and inclement weather. Individuals must pass a pre-employment medical examination and drug screening, which the District will pay for.

The medical examination is intended to evaluate the candidate’s ability to meet the physical and health requirement for this position. Water industry knowledge and construction experience is a plus and Hicksville residents will receive first consideration.
