SKYLIGHT ROOFING SYSTEM | I
Although the concept of light seems ethereal, its physics is not. Using equations of optics and materials able to direct and diffuse light waves, this system sought to recreate the sensation of viewing a beam of light as a seemingly perceptible volume. Throughout the course of the day, the experience in the space below is a function of the sun’s position, with dancing rays from sunrise to sunset, interrupted only by a momentary blackout at solar noon.

This final baccalaureate project combined computer graphic design, architectural massing and programming, as well as mechanical and structural design. It was conceived as an auxiliary space for university administration, designed to attract students of the built environment through its operable facade and grand staircase.
