JAR OF HOPE REFORMED CHURCH HOME EARNS U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT BREAKS NEW RECORD BEST NURSING HOME RATING
On October 19th, 2020, the township of Old Bridge embraced an amazing record-breaking achievement. The community came together to cheer on the completion of a 260-mile walk from Washington D.C. to Old Bridge, New Jersey in just under 8 days. This journey was finished by James Raffone, Founder & CEO of JAR of Hope, along with a dedicated team known as Team Jamesy 24/7. Kate Shepard, Executive Director at Reformed Church Home, has announced that the skilled nursing center has been named one of the Best Nursing Homes for 2020-2021 by U.S. News & World Report, a nationally recognized publication that annually evaluates and rates health care providers across the country. The Home was honored in the “High-Performing” category for both Long-Term Care and for Short-Term Rehabilitation. According to the publication, only 21% of the nation’s nursing homes earned at least one badge. “We are extremely proud of the work our entire team has accom-
plished to achieve this recognition, especially this year in light of the added challenges brought on by the pandemic,” said Shepard. “We strive to give our residents the quality of life and level of dignity they deserve while keeping them safe, which the US News & World Report award acknowledges.” The U.S. News Best Nursing Homes awards are announced annually and recognize consistent performance in national quality measures. Facilities received one of three ratings – High Performing, Average, or Below Average – for both Short-Term Rehabilitation and for Long-Term Care. The
ratings are based on U.S. News’s indepth analysis of publicly available data, including information that is not factored into the government’s star rating system administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Unlike the CMS star ratings, the U.S. News ratings recognize that Continued on page 6
The Old Bridge Police Department’s “Cop for Kids” program will be hosting their 24th annual holiday party for families in need at the Municipal Complex Courtyard on Friday, December 4,2020. This year, due to COVID-19, the event has become a bit of a challenge. Nonetheless, The Old Bridge Police are still going forward with it and it will be a huge success. The party will be entirely outside, and families will go through a Winter Wonderland. Approximately ninety children and their families will be treated to a full dinner, a visit from Santa Claus, and gifts for every child. Thanks to the overwhelming
generosity of our friends in the business community, this program has been, and continues to be a great success. We have worked with many of you in the past and we hope that you will continue to be able to assist us this year. Donations are greatly appreciated and can be sent to Cops for Kids, Old Bridge Police Department, 1 Old Bridge Plaza, Old Bridge, NJ 08857, Attn: Sgt Jim Ford. We are also seeking new, unwrapped toys and games for the children that can be dropped off at the Police headquarters, Monday through Friday 8 am to 4 pm. D on at i ons an d d i s c ou nt s
