For an entire generation born in the years since, it is our responsibility to ensure that the stories of those we lost, the heroism of our first responders, and the extraordinary unity and compassion demonstrated in the days and months that followed are never forgotten. For Old Bridge, September 11 is also deeply personal. Fifteen Continue on page 12

MESSAGE BY MAYOR WALKER Dear Old Bridge Residents, I hope everyone had a wonderful summer and is excited for the new school year and the events planned for September. I look forward to supporting Debbie our local sports teams and Walker interacting with residents at the many activities planned around town. Please be mindful of the increased number of pedestrians, cars, and school buses on the road. Stay alert when driving, and be sure to obey the posted speed limit, especially in the school zones. This month, we will honor those who lost their lives during the horrific attack on our country on September 11th, 2001. It is hard to believe it is the 25th Anniversary of this appalling event. Our yearly remembrance ceremony will be held at 6pm on Friday, September 11th at the 9-11 Memorial Site located near the Library in the Municipal Complex. This solemn occasion allows us to honor and pay tribute to those local residents and all those who lost their lives during this devastating day in our history. We must never forget. We will gather for a happier occasion during our annual Old Bridge Day on
Saturday, September 26th from 12pm to 5pm at the Municipal Complex. The event features live entertainment, food, games, performances from local groups, vendor tables, and the opportunity to meet with Township and local government officials. We will also proudly celebrate the 50th anniversary of the historic name change from Madison Township to Old Bridge Township. Let’s hope for good weather! I also want to thank all the residents who continue to show support to our local businesses. A wide variety of establishments have chosen to call Old Bridge home because of all it has to offer. Residents are the best support system for our businesses, and I am pleased to see our business owners receive the support they deserve. I encourage you to keep an eye out for this publication to be kept well informed of the new projects in town as well as family events that occur throughout the year. Please continue to stay safe and be well. Mayor Debbie Walker

YOUR VOICE IN TRENTON
SEPTEMBER 11, 2001: By Senator Owen Henry REMEMBERING, REFLECTING Announcing PAS‑1 (Property Tax Relief Application for Our Second PAS-1 Seniors and Disabled Residents) — many & HEALING AT THE LIBRARY Property Tax Relief Filing Event — September 15 at Silver Linings Senior Center As your State Senator, one of my highest priorities is ensuring that our seniors receive the support, respect, and financial relief they deserve. That commitment is why I, along with Assemblymembers Rob Clifton and Alex Sauickie are proud to announce that on September 15, we will be hosting our second PAS‑1 Property Tax Relief Filing Event at the Silver Linings Senior Center at Old Bridge. Our first event was an overwhelming success. In just one day, 82 residents received hands‑on assistance filing their
of whom told me they would not have been able to complete the process without personalized guidance. That experience reaffirmed what I hear from seniors across our district: navigating state programs can be confusing, and too many residents miss out on benefits simply because the process feels overwhelming. Trained staff will be on-site to help residents complete and submit their forms, answer questions, and ensure no one leaves without the support they came for. If you or someone you know may qualify for PAS‑1 relief, I encourage you to attend. I look forward to seeing you on September 15. With deepest respect and gratitude, Senator Owen Henry
In commemoration of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, the Old Bridge Public Library is offering a poster exhibition curated and developed by the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. The exhibit is called, “September 11, 2001: The Day That Changed the World.” Alongside the exhibit, there will be film screenings of 9/11 documentaries,
including 9/11: I Was There, Boatlift - An Untold Tale of 9/11 Resilience, and Twin Towers: Legacy, among others. There will also be a Birds of Peace interactive display, where people can decorate birds with messages of peace and healing to be incorporated into a community art piece.

BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR REPORT
We are proud to announce that Moody’s Ratings has reaffirmed Old Bridge Township’s Aa1 issuer rating, recognizing the Township’s strong financial position, conservative budgeting practices, Anahita Feltz growing tax base, Business and favorable local Administrator economy. The Aa1 rating is particularly significant, as it is the second-highest rating on Moody’s long-term credit rating scale, surpassed only by Aaa. The rating reflects a very strong level of creditworthiness and demonstrates the Township’s ability to responsibly manage its financial obligations. As part of its August 2026 review, Moody’s also assigned an Aa1 rating to the Township’s $27.9 million General Obligation Bonds, Series 2026, while maintaining its Aa1 ratings on outstanding rated bonds. Moody’s also maintained the Township’s MIG 1 rating, the highest rating available for short-term municipal obligations,
reflecting Old Bridge’s strong underlying credit quality and demonstrated history of access to the financial markets. Moody’s identified Old Bridge’s stable local economy and strong financial position as key credit strengths. The report also highlighted healthy reserve levels and the Township’s history of conservative budgeting. Moody’s expects Old Bridge’s financial position to remain strong over the medium term and anticipates continued financial stability. Maintaining a strong credit rating is an important reflection of the Township’s overall financial health and its ability to responsibly manage long-term obligations. It can also help the Township access favorable borrowing terms when financing critical infrastructure and capital improvements. The Aa1 rating reflects the continued efforts of the Administration, Township Council, Finance Department, and our department directors to carefully manage taxpayer dollars while maintaining the essential services and investments our residents expect. We remain committed to conservative financial planning, responsible spending, and protecting the Township’s long-term fiscal stability.

FAITH, HOPE, AND WHAT THE RESEARCH REVEALS
SEPTEMBER CELEBRATES ASSISTED LIVING
In a time when anxiety, depression, and loneliness affect so many lives, it is encouraging to see researchers continue exploring what contributes to genuine human flourishing. A recent review published by Oxford University Press in the Handbook of Religion and Health analyzed decades of high-quality research examining the relationship between religious involvement and health. The findings consistently showed that regular participation in a faith community is associated with lower rates of depression, anxiety, stress, and suicide, along with greater hope, life satisfaction, and overall well-being. These findings shouldn’t surprise those who have experienced the strength that comes from belonging to a caring community, living with purpose, and finding hope beyond themselves. Healthy churches provide friendship, encouragement, practical support, and opportunities to serve others—all of which contribute to
Reformed Church Home proudly celebrates National Assisted Living Week, September 13–19, and its inspiring 2026 theme, “Shining Through the Years.” This special observance honors the people who make Assisted Living a true community—residents, families, caregivers, volunteers, and staff. Most importantly, it celebrates residents for the lives they have led, the wisdom they continue to share, and the light they bring to others. Every resident arrives at RCH with a story. Those stories hold cherished memories of family traditions, childhood adventures, enduring friendships, meaningful careers, community service, and quiet acts of kindness. Some achievements appear in photographs and awards; others are known only through the lives they have touched. Assisted Living provides opportunities for these stories to be shared—and for new chapters to be written. Residents continue to form friendships, discover interests, enjoy activities
Living Stones by Lloyd Pulley, Senior Pastor, Calvary Chapel Old Bridge healthier lives. At the same time, no research study can answer life’s deepest questions. Statistics may reveal that faith is associated with better mental health, but they cannot explain the peace that millions of believers have found through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The Bible reminds us that we were created for more than simply surviving each day. We were created to know God. Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). Whether you attend church regularly or have never stepped inside one, consider exploring the claims of Christ for yourself. You may discover that the greatest gift faith offers is not simply better mental health, but lasting hope, forgiveness, and the assurance that God knows you, loves you, and invites you into a relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
and spiritual fellowship, and contribute their ideas and talents to community life. Meaningful connections grow around dining tables, during activities, along hallways, and through everyday conversations with neighbors and team members. “Shining Through the Years” also recognizes the caregivers and staff whose compassion helps each resident’s light remain visible. By listening carefully, learning personal preferences, and providing individualized assistance, they create a culture where residents feel known, respected, and valued. National Assisted Living Week is more than a seven-day celebration. It reflects what RCH strives to practice throughout the year—honoring the whole person, strengthening relationships, and helping every resident experience Inspired Living. The years do not diminish a person’s light. They add depth, warmth, and meaning to its glow. At Reformed Church Home, we are privileged to help that light continue to shine.

YOUR SAT SCORE WENT DOWN. SHOULD YOU WORRY? By Paul Pscolka
Usually, no. Every SAT is a little different. From 2005 to 2016, the SAT had 171 questions. From 2016 to 2023, it had 154. Since March 2024, the Digital SAT has had just 98 questions. With fewer questions, normal variation in the topics tested can have a greater impact on your score. One SAT might include more subject-verb agreement questions, while another might include more apostrophe questions. A typical student is stronger on one of these topics than another. I saw this firsthand with a student last year. He took nine lessons before the August SAT and only three lessons between the August and September tests. He improved before August but improved a bit more— another 140 points— before September. I'd love to take credit for that 140-point jump, but I wasn't saving any secret test-day advice for those final three lessons. Some of his improvement was likely due to the
natural variability of the SAT. Of course, the pendulum can swing the other way. A lower score does not necessarily mean your skills decreased. So, what should you do? If you haven't worked with a test-prep professional, consider doing so. More importantly, take multiple practice tests and keep an error log. You should know exactly why you missed each question and, crucially, what you will do differently next time. The better you understand your weaknesses, the less you'll be at the mercy of test-to-test variation. You should also understand how colleges use SAT scores. Generally, colleges fall into three categories: 1. Superscore: 80% of colleges consider your highest Reading and Writing and Math scores across multiple tests. 2. Highest single test: Most of the remaining colleges consider your best overall SAT score from one sitting. 3. Most recent test: A smaller number consider your most recent score.
For example, if you score 500 RW/600 Math, then 490 RW/520 Math, and finally 590 RW/590 Math, a superscoring college could consider you a 590 RW/600 Math while other universities will look at 590/590. So don't panic over one disappointing SAT score. Look at the bigger picture, identify your mistakes, and keep improving. Need advice? OLD BRIDGE TOWNSHIP COMMEMORATES 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF SEPTEMBER 11 Continued from page 1 members of our Old Bridge community lost their lives as a result of the attacks on September 11, 2001. As we have in years past, we will once again come together to honor each of them and reflect on the lasting impact their loss has had on their loved ones, friends, neighbors, and the entire Old Bridge community. In preparation for this solemn milestone, Old Bridge Township has completed several renovations to our 9/11 Memorial. The renovation project, completed by our Public Works team and under the direction of our Public Works Director, Kasey Lenning, Jr., was carefully undertaken to enhance and preserve the Memorial while respecting its original purpose and design. The project includes beautiful new pavers, refreshed landscaping, a new fountain, and additional improvements throughout the Memorial area, creating a renewed and peaceful setting for reflection and remembrance. These improvements represent more than a renovation. They reaffirm our
community’s commitment to preserving this sacred space for future generations and ensuring that the legacy of September 11 continues to be honored in Old Bridge. On September 11, we will once again come together to remember the innocent lives taken far too soon, honor the courage and sacrifice of first responders and all those who answered the call to serve, and recognize those who continue to suffer from illnesses related to the attacks and their aftermath. As we mark 25 years, the message that has guided our nation and our community since that tragic day remains as important as ever: We will never forget. We encourage residents of all ages to join us on Friday, September 11 at 6:00 p.m. as the Old Bridge community gathers at our newly renovated 9/11 Memorial to remember all who lost their lives that day, reflect on the events that forever changed our nation, and honor the enduring legacy of September 11, 2001.
