ANTHEM ROTARY CLUB

22nd Annual Golf Tournament T

HE ANTHEM ROTARY Club put on an epic golf tournament this year. They broke records in fundraising and community participation. With the support of 120 businesses, Anthem Rotary raised over 71K. That’s incredible!

The money raised stays right here to support local community projects and programs that elevate the lives of our Veterans, seniors, students, athletes, and Anthem families in need.

We had perfect weather, fun contests and prizes, and phenomenal participation. We had a huge turnout of volunteers from the Rotary to make the event run smoothly.

This is a well-oiled machine that starts preparation six months in advance.

Rotarians collect hole sponsorships and raffle prizes, sell Ball Drop Tickets, and stuff magical swag bags. They wake up early on the day of the tournament to haul gear, set up tents, sell tickets, pass out swag bags, and verify Hole-In-One Winners!

The patriotic golf Polo shirt was a huge hit this year. There were other awesome prizes to win as well. A Hole-In-One could lead to a luxury vehicle from Arrowhead Cadillac, $10k from North Valley Water Solutions, a brand-new golf cart from North

Valley Cart Care, a 15k shopping spree at Andrew Z Diamonds, and a home HVAC unit by ProSkill. Talk about community spirit! Local businesses really stepped up.

Every hole had some fun experience for the golfers.

It takes strong leadership to produce an event like this. We appreciate Joe Alvarez for organizing timelines and details to make this tournament a first-class experience. He makes it look easy, but at the end of the day, he always credits his fellow Rotarians for making this event fun, successful, and memorable.

The hardest part wasn't deploying. The hardest part was coming home.

I

LEFT FOR DJIBOUTI, Africa, in 2008 as a young Marine, husband, and father. When I returned, I found that life had continued moving forward without me. It was a realization that would shape the next chapter of my life in ways I never expected.

I joined the Marine Corps Reserve in July 2003 at 19 years old. In August 2007, I entered the Phoenix Police Academy and graduated in January 2008. Two days later, I was sent to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, to prepare for deployment. In April, I deployed to Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti, leaving behind my wife and our one-year-old daughter.

When I returned home, I expected life to pick up where I had left it. Instead, I learned a lesson that many service members and first responders understand all too well: life keeps moving while you're gone.

The freeways had changed. My home had changed. My daughter had grown. The world I had left behind no longer looked the same. All I wanted was to come home to what I knew, but everything felt different after just one year away.

I returned to the Phoenix Police Department and spent the next thirteen years serving the community. Like many in military and law enforcement careers, I became very good at showing up, getting the job done, and carrying whatever weight came with it. For years, I pushed through my PTSD instead of facing it.

I carried stress, guilt, and experiences I had never truly processed because I never realized I needed to.

Then something unexpected happened. In 2018, my wife taught me how to install her hair extensions. What started as helping her out turned into assisting clients she couldn't fit into her schedule. For the first time in a long time, I wasn't operating in crisis mode. There was no adrenaline, no conflict, and no emergency waiting around the corner. There were conversations and people who were genuinely happy to see me.

Leaving the Phoenix Police Department wasn't part of the plan. I expected to

finish my career there. Just as I thought I would spend more time in the Marines, I believed those uniforms would always be part of who I was. Walking away wasn't easy. It felt like leaving behind a version of myself I knew well.

Even today, I miss it. I miss the camaraderie. I miss the sense of purpose. I miss being around people who understood the job without needing an explanation.

But I also had to be honest with myself. I wasn't becoming the husband, father, or person I wanted to be. For years, I convinced myself that carrying the weight was simply part of the job. Eventually, I realized that if I wanted to be there for my family, I had to start taking care of myself too. In January 2022, with a big nudge from my wife, I left the Phoenix Police Department and joined my wife and her business partner full-time at Tribe Hair Co. Some people see it as a career change. For me, it was a life change that needed to happen.

Today, I spend more time with my family. I have a healthier relationship with work, and I'm learning that purpose isn't tied to a uniform, title, or career. I still carry guilt for leaving my wife and baby during deployment. I still carry guilt for not serving in Iraq and for not finishing twenty years with the Phoenix Police Department. There are days I miss both careers more than I can explain. But I've learned that moving forward was the least selfish thing I could do.

A client once told me, "Sometimes strength is having the courage to let go, heal, and build a life that allows you to become the person you were meant to be." Those words have stayed with me. Today, life feels good. Everybody is healthy, happy, and I'm a part of all of it. I have a new perspective and a deep appreciation for where I've been and where I am now. Most of all, I'm excited for what is still to come.

To those who serve in both the military and law enforcement, God bless you. To my fellow Marines, Semper Fi. And to my family, I love you.

OR DR. BRIAN, winning the Anthem Rotary Golf Tournament was exciting, but the real highlight was being part of an event that brings the community together for a great cause. "It was honestly the most fun I've ever had on a golf course," he said. "Between the team I assembled and just the way the Rotary does such an incredible job, the energy was amazing."

The annual tournament brought together golfers, sponsors, and volunteers for a day of competition and community support. While Dr. Brian walked away with the championship trophy, he says the event's impact on Anthem is what matters most. "I know their goal was $70,000 this year, and they surpassed it," he said.

"What an incredible one-day fundraiser."

As for one final piece of advice for golfers? "You don't have to spend $600 on a new driver every year to gain five more yards," he joked. "You can get an adjustment and get even more." For Dr. Brian, golf and chiropractic care share a common goal: helping people move better, perform better, and enjoy the game for years to come.

The first call went to Melinda, better known as MJ, a former LPGA Tour player.

"She's an incredible human and an incredible golfer," Dr. Brian said. He also recruited Stevie Q and Rob Kelsall to round out the team.

"We'll be defending champs next year," he said. "We'll bring back the same team."

Golf has been part of Dr. Brian's life since 1996, when he picked up the game after retiring from a professional motocross career and beginning chiropractic college.

Based in Anthem, Youth for Troops is a youth-led nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting active-duty military members, veterans, and their families through volunteer service, advocacy, and education. What makes Youth for Troops unique is its belief that anyone can make a difference. Throughout the year, volunteers assemble care packages for deployed troops, create appreciation cards, decorate shipping boxes, and help produce sleeping mats for homeless veterans made from recycled plastic bags.

Each month, volunteers gather in Anthem to pack hundreds of care packages filled with toiletries, snacks, comfort items, and handwritten notes of encouragement. These packages serve as a reminder that the sacrifices made by service members are recognized and appreciated back home.

Beyond supporting deployed troops, Youth for Troops also works to strengthen the connection between generations. Young volunteers learn firsthand about the service and sacrifices of military members while developing leadership skills, compassion, and a commitment to community service. W

HEN CRISTINA TALKS about becoming an American citizen, she does not begin with paperwork, immigration forms, or government offices.

She begins with gratitude.

For someone who grew up in Calgary, Alberta, traveled extensively, built a successful corporate career, and eventually chose Anthem as her home, becoming an American was never simply about obtaining a passport.

It was about finding a place that aligned with her values, ambitions, and the life she wanted to build.

Alongside her husband Jason, Cristina has spent the last fifteen years creating a life centered around entrepreneurship, personal growth, health, community, and freedom. Their journey has included long-distance love, multiple businesses, real estate investments, fitness, nutrition coaching, hospitality, and some of Anthem's most recognizable community events.

At the center of it all is a simple belief: life does not happen by accident. It is built intentionally.

Their story began in 2009 at a leadership seminar in Napa Valley, California. Neither was looking for a relationship. Both were focused on becoming better versions of themselves.

"We met at a seminar in Northern California," Jason recalls. "Everyone there was really open and vulnerable.

There wasn't a lot of pretense."

One of their first interactions came during a ropescourse exercise when Cristina volunteered to model a safety helmet.

"The instructor asked the group what was wrong with the picture," Jason says. "The room was completely silent, and I said, 'Cristina.'"

Everyone froze.

"They thought I had just insulted her."

Instead, Cristina burst out laughing.

That moment became the beginning of a relationship that would span nearly a decade across an international border.

At the time, Cristina was living in Canada and building her career with Starbucks, while Jason was running businesses in Arizona. Rather than viewing the distance as an obstacle, they treated it as an opportunity to intentionally build their relationship.

"We made a commitment that we would never go more than six weeks without seeing each other," Cristina says.

Together, they invested heavily in personal development, leadership training, and mentorship. Early on, they even created a written relationship agreement outlining their values, communication expectations, and vision for the future.

"We signed it," Cristina says. "And we still have it."

later, she walked into that very space while it was still under construction.

One dream continues to surface: a boutique bakery inspired by her Italian heritage.

"People think successful relationships happen naturally," Jason says. "They don't. Like anything else worth having, they require effort and intentionality."

The owners had little coffee-industry experience, so Cristina helped develop systems, operations, and menu concepts that contributed to the business's early success. Shortly afterward, she became Food and Beverage Director at Anthem Golf & Country Club, continuing a career built around hospitality, leadership, and creating meaningful experiences.

"My mom owned a restaurant for thirty years," she says.

"Food has always been part of who I am."

Although the original plan was for Jason to move to Canada, life had other ideas. Jason obtained Canadian permanent residency and spent significant time there, but the more time Cristina spent in Anthem, the more she began imagining a future in Arizona.

"My family immigrated from Italy to Canada," she says. "I grew up in Calgary, but I traveled all over the world through my career. I was always drawn to America."

The turning point came when the couple purchased property in Anthem.

"We found this incredible community," she says.

"There was something about it that just felt right."

In 2018, Cristina began the immigration process herself and successfully obtained her green card without hiring an attorney.

Leaving Canada was not easy. She was leaving family, friends, and a successful career behind.

"I had to go through my own personal development journey around that," she says.

Once she arrived, however, she quickly realized she had made the right decision.

"It wasn't until I lived here that I truly understood how much I loved America."

Today, she speaks openly about her appreciation for the opportunities available in the United States.

"As an immigrant, you don't take it for granted.

You appreciate the opportunity to build something, create something, and shape your own future."

That entrepreneurial mindset has defined nearly every chapter of their lives together.

Jason's early ventures included web development, graphic design, SEO, sales, and real estate investments. Long before modern website builders existed, he was helping businesses establish an online presence while building a portfolio of income-producing properties.

Meanwhile, Cristina spent nearly twenty years with Starbucks, advancing through leadership roles across North America and traveling to coffee farms in South America.

Coffee became more than a product.

It became a way of connecting with people.

Years before Amped Coffee opened, Cristina pointed to an empty location in Anthem and remarked that it would be the perfect spot for a coffee shop. Years

While Cristina was helping build community through food and beverage, Jason found a similar purpose through fitness. After recognizing operational challenges within the fitness industry, he purchased a stake in a CrossFit gym and eventually became its primary owner.

"We weren't trying to create a gym for elite athletes," Jason says. "We wanted a place where anyone felt welcome."

That philosophy eventually expanded into nutrition coaching and long-term wellness.

She imagines fresh sourdough bread, olive oil from her family's property in Italy, and a gathering place where people can connect around a table.

As America celebrates its 250th birthday, Cristina's story serves as a reminder that the American Dream is still alive.

Not because success is guaranteed.

Not because life is easy.

But because opportunity remains available to those willing to pursue it.

For Cristina and Jason, that opportunity has taken many forms: entrepreneurship, citizenship, community service, mentorship, health, and personal growth.

Cristina became a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach and now works primarily with women seeking sustainable improvements in their health.

"I have clients in their eighties who are stronger now than they were a few years ago," she says.

Her message is simple: small, consistent improvements create lasting change.

"Do something today that your future self will thank you for."

Perhaps no event better represents their commitment to community than the annual Murph Challenge, which honors Navy SEAL Lieutenant Michael Murphy.

Jason completed his first Murph nearly twenty years ago.

"It nearly killed me," he jokes.

What began as a CrossFit tradition has evolved into a community event that attracts participants from throughout the region.

"It's about doing something hard," Jason says.

"It's also about remembering that there are things bigger than ourselves."

For Cristina, the event reflects something equally important.

"It brings people together," she says. "And we need more of that."

Today, Jason is focused on a blockchain-based intellectual property company, while Cristina continues growing her coaching business and exploring future opportunities centered around food and hospitality.

Rusty was on the euthanasia list because of his age and medical needs, but founder Emilee Spear saw his worth and gave him a second chance. Today, his story lives on at a five-acre sanctuary where senior dogs are surrounded by comfort, safety, and love in the final chapter of their lives.

At Rusty’s, dogs live in air-conditioned tiny homes with private yards rather than kennels. The property also includes a Farm of Hope, providing refuge for rescued chickens, ducks, goats, and donkeys. Many of the dogs arrive after heartbreaking life changes, including the loss of an owner or a family no longer able to provide care. Rusty’s ensures their remaining years are filled with dignity and compassion.

The sanctuary’s impact is powered by community support. In the past year, 123 volunteers contributed more than 8,000 hours of service. In 2025, Rusty’s cared for 137 animals, including 85 senior dogs and 52 farm animals. Seven dogs found loving forever foster homes, while 17 animals completed their journey surrounded by care.

Support also comes through Rusty’s Resale Boutique at 42407 N. Vision Way in Anthem.

The shop offers clothing, home décor, furniture, books, and unique treasures, with every purchase helping fund the sanctuary’s mission.

Rusty’s greatest need is financial support to help cover its $10,000 monthly veterinary expenses and provide care for the animals who call the sanctuary home.

FROM DEPUTY SHERIFF to Dog Trainer

F

OR NEARLY THREE decades, Paul dedicated his life to serving and protecting communities across southeastern Wisconsin. Beginning his law enforcement career in 1988, he worked his way through nearly every facet of policing, serving as a patrol deputy, detective, supervisor, fugitive task force member, search and recovery diver, SWAT sniper, and canine agitator. Today, Anthem residents know him for a very different role: helping local families build better relationships with their dogs through Grandpawz Dog Training.

Paul's path into law enforcement began unexpectedly. While working in the paint department at Sears, a local police sergeant invited him on a ride-along. Nothing particularly exciting happened that evening, but something clicked. By the end of the night, Paul knew he had found his calling.

GYMNASTICS AND ALL STAR CHEER

Throughout his career, some of his most meaningful moments came not from arrests or investigations, but from the people he helped. He recalls receiving a Meritorious Service Award after assisting a family through a tragic shooting. During the trial, a surviving victim approached him in tears to thank him personally. It was a moment that reinforced the impact law enforcement can have on people's lives. He also spent years mentoring inner-city youth, helping them see opportunities beyond their circumstances and building trust between young people and law enforcement.

His passion for canine work developed alongside his police career. As a canine agitator, Paul helped train police dogs by serving as the person who takes the bite during training exercises. Over the years he worked with German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherds, and even a Labrador retriever. The experience gave him a deep understanding of canine behavior, drive, and communication.

After retiring and relocating to Anthem, Paul transformed that experience into Grandpawz Dog Training.

The business name was inspired by his son, who joked that Paul behaved like a grandfather with dogs. He would show up, spend time with them, teach them new skills, and then leave the day-to-day responsibilities to their owners. The name stuck.

What makes Grandpawz Dog Training unique is Paul's philosophy. Rather than training dogs for owners, he teaches owners how to train their dogs. OME STORIES ARRIVE QUIETLY. For one Anthem family, an ordinary spring morning became the beginning of an experience they will never forget.

On May 18, just after sunrise, Jodi stepped outside with a cup of coffee and noticed movement near her backyard. Standing only a few feet away was a bobcat. The moment felt surreal. The animal was calm, unhurried, and completely at ease. She paused briefly, looked toward Jodi, and continued on her way as though she belonged there too. Jodi rushed inside to tell her family, and together they watched from the windows as the story unfolded. Moments later, the bobcat emerged from behind a cluster of rocks with three tiny cubs following close behind. The family would later name the mother Sadie.

Over the weeks that followed, Sadie transformed their backyard into something extraordinary. What began as a surprising wildlife encounter became a front-row seat to one of nature's most intimate stories.

Each day brought something new. The family watched the cubs nurse, wrestle, climb, explore, and nap in the shade. They witnessed bath time, playtime, and the patient lessons every mother teaches her young. One cub was bold and curious. Another rarely strayed far from Sadie's side. The third seemed endlessly distracted by the wonders of the world around it. Through it all, Sadie remained a picture of devotion.

Every morning she would leave to hunt, disappearing into the desert while her cubs waited safely behind.

Hours later she would return, and the family watched as the little bobcats sprang back to life at the sight of their mother. Her movements were steady and purposeful. Her instincts were flawless. She was doing exactly what nature intended her to do.

As the days passed, the family's initial surprise gave way to admiration. They learned to observe from a respectful distance and gained a deeper appreciation for the wildlife that shares the desert with them.

Neighbors were informed, wildlife officials were contacted, and everyone worked to ensure the animals had the space they needed to remain safe and wild. Then, slowly, things changed. Two of the kittens passed away.

Eventually, the third cub stopped appearing as well. The family never learned exactly what happened. For those who had spent weeks watching the young bobcats grow, the loss was heartbreaking. Yet nature does not always provide explanations, and it rarely offers perfect endings.

Today, Sadie no longer spends her days in the backyard. Every few days she still passes through, a reminder that she belongs to the desert and the life it demands. Seeing her now brings mixed emotions: sadness for what was lost, gratitude for what was shared, and deep respect for a mother who loved her babies fiercely.

Not every story is measured by its ending. Sometimes the gift is simply being allowed to witness it.

For a brief season, one family was welcomed into the hidden world of a wild mother and her cubs. The memories remain, along with a renewed appreciation for the beauty, fragility, and wonder that exist just beyond our back doors.

HE NORTH VALLEY is home to many talented young people, and one local organization is helping give those students a place to grow, create, and experience the performing arts in a meaningful way. Banzerini House has become a unique part of the community by offering more than traditional theater training.

While live stage productions remain an important part of what they do, Banzerini House also gives students opportunities to explore film production, acting for the camera, movement, backstage work, and the many creative skills that go into bringing a story to life.

That commitment to authentic training is also what led Banzerini House to partner with Kombative Concepts Martial Arts, also known as KCMA, for an upcoming short film project involving combat movement, fight scenes, and stunt-related performance. Rather than treating action scenes as simple pretend fighting, the goal is to help students understand how to move safely, confidently, and believably on camera. KCMA’s role in the project is to support the actors with specialized combat and martial arts movement training. This includes helping students develop body awareness, footwork, timing, distance, control, and the ability to make action look realistic while keeping safety as the top priority. KCMA’s background in multiple martial arts systems, including striking, grappling, and Filipino Martial Arts, gives the students a broader foundation for understanding how movement can translate into performance.

The partnership is a great example of two local organizations bringing their strengths together for the benefit of the community. Banzerini House provides the creative vision, production environment, and performing arts training.

KCMA adds a specialized layer of movement, discipline, and combat performance experience. Together, they are giving local students a chance to be part of something exciting, challenging, and memorable. At its heart, this collaboration is about more than a short film. It is about helping young performers build confidence, learn new skills, and see what is possible when local businesses and arts organizations work together to support the next generation.

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW Your Pelvic Floor Is Talking. Are You Listening?

I

F YOU'VE EVER crossed your legs before a sneeze, mapped out the nearest bathroom wherever you go, or convinced yourself that painful intimacy is just part of getting older, this article is for you. At Arizona Beauty Lounge, one of the most common things I hear from women is, "I thought this was normal."

The truth? Many of the symptoms women experience are common, but they are not normal. Let's bust five of the biggest myths surrounding pelvic floor health.

MYTH #1: LEAKING AFTER HAVING BABIES IS NORMAL. Leaking urine when you laugh, cough, sneeze, exercise, or jump is incredibly common. That doesn't mean you should simply accept it. Your body is giving you information, and it's worth listening to.

MYTH #2: PELVIC FLOOR PROBLEMS ONLY HAPPEN TO OLDER WOMEN. Not even close. Women in their 30s, 40s, and 50s experience bladder leaks, urgency, pelvic pressure, and discomfort every day. Hormonal changes, childbirth, stress, collagen loss, and lifestyle factors all play a role.

MYTH #3: KEGELS FIX EVERYTHING. This may be one of the biggest misconceptions in women's health. Not every pelvic floor is weak.

Some muscles are actually too tight or functioning improperly. More Kegels are not always the answer.

MYTH #4: PAIN WITH INTIMACY IS JUST PART OF AGING. Dryness, burning, tearing, discomfort, and decreased sensation are often signs of hormonal and tissue changes, particularly during perimenopause and menopause. These symptoms are common, but they should never be dismissed as something you simply have to live with.

MYTH #5: SURGERY IS YOUR ONLY OPTION. Many women think their only choices are pads, medications, or surgery. The good news is that there are non-surgical options available that can support

tissue health, bladder control, collagen production, and pelvic floor function.

Here's what I want you to remember: your symptoms are real, and so are the solutions. If you saw yourself in this article, stop normalizing symptoms that are asking for your attention. And if you thought of another woman while reading it, send it to her.

HEN IT COMES to cardiovascular training, monitoring heart rate is one of the most effective ways to maximize results while minimizing unnecessary strain on the body. The principle is simple: work smarter, not harder.

The first step is determining your estimated maximum heart rate (MHR). A common formula is: 220 – your age = Maximum Heart Rate. For example, a 40-year-old would have an estimated maximum heart rate of 180 beats per minute (220 – 40 = 180).

Once you know your MHR, you can train within the following heart rate zones: ZONE 1 (50–60% OF MHR): Primarily used for warm-ups and cool-downs.

Conversations that Connect a Community

W

HAT BEGAN AS a simple podcast idea has grown into one of Anthem's most recognizable platforms for storytelling, business spotlights, and community connection. Through Eye on Anthem, co-hosts Eric and Sawana have created a space where local business owners, nonprofit leaders, volunteers, and community advocates can share the stories behind their work.

Eric launched the podcast several years ago to support local businesses during a

challenging time. While it began with a strong real estate focus, the conversations quickly expanded to include the people, organizations, and stories that make Anthem unique. Community advocate Jeanne from Anthem Stuff hosted many episodes, helping broaden the content and spotlight local happenings. After a successful run, the podcast was paused while Eric and Sawana considered its next chapter and future direction.

"After a few episodes, I realized there were so many incredible stories in Anthem that had nothing to do with real estate," Eric says. "Every person has a story worth telling, and every story can connect with somebody."

The podcast took on new energy when Sawana joined as co-host. Together, the pair developed a conversational format that allows guests to move beyond business promotions and share the experiences that shaped them. "We're interested in the person behind the business," Sawana says. "People know the company name or recognize someone around town, but they don't always know how they got here or

what drives them. Those are the stories people remember."

Unlike traditional interviews, Eye on Anthem focuses on authentic conversation rather than scripted questions. Guests are encouraged to relax and speak openly, often revealing personal experiences that listeners would never hear in a typical business setting. One episode that stood out to Sawana featured local businessman Joe Alvarez from By the Bucket. She recalls being touched by a story from his childhood about receiving his first pair of Chuck Taylor shoes. "His dad worked and saved so he could have that pair of shoes," she says. "That experience stayed with him. Today, so much of what he does is centered around making sure kids have opportunities regardless of their circumstances."

The addition of video has further strengthened the connection between guests and listeners, giving audiences an opportunity to see the personalities behind the stories.

For Eric, the most rewarding part of the podcast has been discovering the depth of the people he thought he already knew. "You walk into a business and think you know someone," he says. "But then you sit down and hear their story, and you

Among the many pigs who have touched Danielle's heart is Hope, a pig who survived a devastating dog attack. Rescued after being left to die, Hope spent months recovering at the sanctuary. Today, she enjoys a peaceful life surrounded by friends and safety.

HEN MOST PEOPLE think of pigs, they rarely imagine affectionate companions eager for belly rubs, cuddles, and human connection.

But for Danielle, founder of Better Piggies Rescue & Sanctuary, pigs are some of the most intelligent, loving, and misunderstood animals in the world.

Located right here in Arizona, Better Piggies Rescue & Sanctuary has become a safe haven for hundreds of pigs in need. What began with a single pig named Beezers has grown into a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and educating the public about potbelly pigs and farm hogs.

Danielle received Beezers as a gift 16 years ago and quickly became passionate about learning everything she could about proper pig care. That journey led her to volunteer with other rescues, foster pigs in need, and eventually establish Better Piggies Rescue & Sanctuary nine years ago.

Looking ahead, Danielle hopes to expand the sanctuary's presence within the community and continue raising awareness about pigs as companions deserving of respect and compassion. Community members can help by volunteering, attending events, sponsoring a pig, or making contributions. Most importantly, Danielle encourages people to learn more about these remarkable animals.

The first pig she rescued was Lola, a farm hog listed for free online. Fearing she would fall into the wrong hands, Danielle stepped in and coordinated Lola's transfer to a respected rescue in Colorado, where she still lives today. That experience solidified Danielle's mission to help as many pigs as possible.

Today, the sanctuary is home to 215 rescued pigs, along with two rescued cows. Each resident has a unique personality and story. Some arrive after being abandoned, neglected, or surrendered by owners who were unprepared for the realities of pig ownership.

One of the sanctuary's most important goals is education. Danielle says one of the biggest misconceptions is the belief that pigs are dirty 34
