IVINFUSION THERAPY has become an increasingly popular wellness treatment for individuals looking to support their health and energy levels. Unlike traditional oral supplements, IV therapy delivers vitamins, minerals, and fluids directly into the bloodstream through an intravenous line. By bypassing the digestive system, the body can absorb nearly 100 percent of the nutrients, allowing them to work more efficiently and quickly.
A typical IV infusion session takes about 45 to 60 minutes and is performed under the supervision of trained medical professionals. During this time, a carefully formulated blend of vitamins and nutrients is delivered directly into the bloodstream, helping the body replenish essential nutrients that may be depleted due to stress, illness, poor diet, or a busy lifestyle.
Many people turn to IV infusion therapy for a variety of wellness benefits. These treatments may help support brain and heart health, boost energy levels, strengthen the immune system, and promote healthier skin. IV infusions can also assist with hydration, muscle recovery, and overall cellular health, making them a popular option for individuals looking to optimize their well-being.
While IV therapy is not a replacement for a healthy lifestyle, it can be a helpful tool in supporting overall health and helping the body function at its best.

Experience the Circuit at YOGA COLD BATH Arizona's Premier Contrast Therapy Studio

IFYOU ARE looking for a recovery and wellness experience unlike anything else in the Southwest, look no further than Yoga Cold Bath in Glendale, Arizona, home to the largest ice bath studio in the state. At the heart of what they offer is their signature circuit, a carefully designed contrast therapy experience that blends ancient wellness traditions with modern recovery science.
The circuit is built around contrast therapy, a practice that alternates between hot and cold treatments to reduce pain, inflammation, and promote recovery. Research published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research confirms that contrast water therapy significantly reduces delayed onset muscle soreness and accelerates recovery between training sessions.
The circuit begins with yoga, which is not simply a warm-up. Studies show that regular yoga practice reduces cortisol levels, increases flexibility, and improves joint range of motion, making the body more receptive to the therapies that follow. From yoga, guests move into the sauna or hot mineral bath. Heat exposure activates heat shock proteins that repair damaged cells and stimulates the release of growth hormone, according to research from the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland. The warmth also dilates blood vessels, priming circulation for what comes next.
Red and Green light therapy add another powerful layer. Research published in the journal Photomedicine and Laser Surgery found that red light wavelengths between 630 and 850 nanometers penetrate deep tissue, reduce inflammation, and accelerate cellular repair. Green light therapy rounds out the experience with equally compelling science. A clinical study from the University of Arizona found that green light exposure produced a roughly 60 percent reduction in pain intensity and headache frequency in migraine sufferers. Published research in The Journal of

© Best Version Media
Pain also confirmed that green light reduces inflammation in the nervous system, including pathways linked to anxiety and depression.
The circuit concludes with the cold plunge. Cold water immersion triggers norepinephrine release, a hormone that reduces inflammation and sharpens mental focus, with studies showing norepinephrine increases of up to 300 percent after cold exposure.
Whether you are recovering from intense training or simply seeking a full-body reset, the circuit at Yoga Cold Bath delivers a science-backed, multi-modality approach to wellness that works from the inside out.

For people who feel sore, stressed, or overloaded... and want a simple, convenient reset for their body and energy.
Yoga + cold bath ciruits are designed to help you feel better fast!

UNLOCKING YOUTH
The Benefits of Peptides for Anti-Aging and Longevity
INTHE QUEST for a longer, healthier life, peptides have emerged as a promising frontier in wellness and regenerative medicine. These short chains of amino acids act as signaling molecules in the body, influencing everything from cellular repair to hormone regulation. Unlike larger proteins, peptides are smaller and more easily absorbed, making them ideal for therapeutic applications. While research is ongoing, evidence suggests they offer significant benefits for anti-aging and longevity, from revitalizing skin to supporting metabolic health.
One of the most celebrated advantages of peptides lies in their anti-aging effects on the skin. As we age, collagen production declines, leading to wrinkles, sagging, and loss of elasticity. Certain peptides, such as GHK-Cu, stimulate collagen synthesis, promoting firmer, more youthful skin. Studies show they can reduce fine lines and improve texture by enhancing the skin’s natural repair processes. Beyond cosmetics, peptides like copper tripeptide provide antioxidant protection, neutralizing free radicals that accelerate cellular damage. This not only combats visible signs of aging but also supports overall dermal health, making peptides a staple in modern skincare and aesthetic treatments.

Peptides also play a key role in preserving muscle mass and vitality, countering age-related decline. Conditions like sarcopenia; loss of muscle strength, can be mitigated by peptides that boost growth hormone levels, such as sermorelin or

© Best Version Media
ipamorelin. These compounds enhance muscle growth, improve recovery from exercise or injury, and increase energy levels. For instance, BPC-157 and TB-500 are noted for accelerating tissue repair, which is crucial for maintaining physical function as we grow older.
Additionally, peptides improve sleep quality by regulating hormones, leading to better recovery and cognitive sharpness, essential for an active lifestyle. When it comes to longevity, peptides go deeper, targeting the biological hallmarks of aging. They modulate pathways involved in metabolism, inflammation, and nutrient sensing, potentially extending healthy lifespan. Bioactive peptides reduce oxidative stress and chronic inflammation, which contribute to diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular issues. Compounds like thymosin alpha-1 bolster immune function, helping the body fend off age-related vulnerabilities. Research in animal models and databases like AagingBase highlights how dietary or therapeutic peptides influence insulin resistance and protein signaling, key factors in aging. Peptides such as NAD+ precursors support cellular energy production, aiding in DNA repair and mitochondrial health. However, while the benefits are compelling, peptides aren’t a miracle cure. At Desert Health and Wellness, we approach each patient individually, tailoring a regimen to your needs, responsibly and used under supervision. These peptides can complement a holistic approach to wellness, including diet, exercise, and stress management. Peptides represent a science-backed tool for enhancing anti-aging and longevity. By fostering repair, reducing inflammation, and optimizing bodily functions, they help us not just live longer, but thrive with vitality. Here at Desert Health and Wellness, we are watching and studying the evolving research in peptides, and their role in personalized medicine could redefine healthy aging.

Anthem Native Named LEAD INJECTOR at ALANI SKIN MD
FORPAETON, THE path into aesthetic medicine began long before she ever picked up a syringe. While still in high school, she worked at Premier Wellness MediSpa and quickly discovered something that would shape her future. “I just fell in love with the industry,” she says. “Helping people feel like the best version of themselves and enhancing their natural beauty really resonated with me.” That early experience sparked her interest in healthcare and eventually led her into nursing. Her time working in the emergency room helped shape the provider she is today, strengthening her ability to handle pressure while deepening her understanding of the human body.
Determined to build a strong foundation, Paeton pursued extensive training in dermal fillers, botox, and advanced aesthetic treatments, including hands-on courses and cadaver training alongside renowned plastic surgeons. “Learning anatomy at that level helps you become the safest injector possible while still creating beautiful, natural outcomes,” she explains.
For Paeton, aesthetic medicine sits at the intersection of science and artistry. The first time she injected during training, the path forward became clear. “I just knew this was what I was meant to do,” she says. “There’s so much art and science behind it. You’re combining the artistic side with the medical side.” Her approach centers on facial balance and natural-looking results. “It’s really important to understand anatomy and how the face ages,” she explains. “The goal is always balance and results that look natural.”
While lip filler remains one of the most requested treatments, she says most patients today want subtle enhancements. She also sees growing interest in treatments that improve overall skin quality, especially in Arizona where sun exposure can accelerate skin damage.
As aesthetic medicine grows in popularity, Paeton encourages patients to do their research. “Don’t believe everything you see on social media,” she says. “Find a provider who invests in education and training and stays up to date.” Having graduated from Boulder Creek High School, the community already feels like home. “It’s been amazing to plant myself here,” she says. “This community really raised me.”

Looking ahead, Paeton is excited about the continued evolution of aesthetic medicine and the opportunity to grow her practice in the new Alani Skin MD, a brand that is recognized across the valley and newly coming to Anthem. “Aesthetic treatments are a journey,” she says. “My goal is to build trust and guide patients toward natural, balanced results.” For Paeton, the journey from a high school wellness job to becoming an injector in her hometown has come full circle - helping people feel confident in their own skin, one treatment at a time.

HONORING SERVICE, CELEBRATING FREEDOM
Anthem’s Unforgettable Military Ball

THEMILITARY BALL almost didn't happen this year. When Joe Alvarez found out that there was a need for sponsors and volunteers he galvanized the community to help. The Anthem Rotary Club and The Anthem Golf and Country Club joined forces with The Daisy Mountain Veterans Organization to pull off one of the most memorable military balls in Anthem history. The event raised over 31k for veteran services.
It was an elegant affair! There is something stunning about seeing women in ballroom gowns, men in tuxedos, and military men and women in their pressed uniforms. To say this event has a certain grandeur is an understatement. One only has to look at Admiral Ron Tucker in his naval uniform garnished with gold pins and ribbons and a “Hall of Fame Medal” to realize that this is no ordinary banquet dinner.
Some people attend the military ball because they feel very passionate about raising money for veterans. Others

attend because they or their loved ones have served our country. Then there’s the rest who show up because they love their country and feel a debt of gratitude for active military members and veterans. One thing is for certain…Nobody at this event takes freedom for granted. The entire night is about celebrating patriots and American heroes, and fundraising. You should see Joe Alvarez work the room. He has a magical way of multiplying bids during a live auction. Other highlights from the evening included a powerful keynote speech from Arizona’s Congressman, Abe Hamadeh. He wowed each guest with a "Challenge Coin" that commemorates the White House!
To his surprise, Joe Alvarez was awarded “The Liz Turner Public Servant Award.” He credits his passion for veterans to his father who served in the Army. Everyone in that ballroom could feel his emotions. He hugged Coast Guard and friend, Mike Tapp, and tried holding back the tears of joy when he accepted his award. “Back in October I heard there was a possibility that this event might not happen. I immediately decided that there was something that we needed to do. That’s when The Rotary joined forces with Anthem Golf and Country Club to put the military ball back on the calendar. We love our military, and while I did not serve…. I respect and honor those who did.”
There were many generous businesses that stepped up for this event. Andrew Z Diamonds and Fine Jewelry has sponsored this event for several years. Scott Zychowski, his wife, Jessi, and their staff were present and delightful. They are consistent supporters of the veteran community. It was also a complete surprise to Scott when he was awarded, “Business Servant of the Year.” He spoke with great humility.
“I have always felt strongly about supporting the veterans because both of my grandfathers served and so did my uncle and cousin. I am so grateful for the men and women who defend our country. To be recognized for this business award is so meaningful to my entire family and our team at Andrew Z Diamond.” Scott Zychowski was not only a recipient of the business award, but he also sponsored an amazing raffle prize to raise extra money towards the cause. Congratulations to Jennifer Merril for winning the grand prize. It was a 3-carat diamond ring!
“The Military Servant Award” was given to Tom Francis who expressed his deep appreciation for the honor. Veterans like Tom remind us that serving our country is not just about serving a contract but looking for ways to actively give back to our veterans. Tom exemplifies service, patriotism, and compassion.
“I am honored to receive the Military Servant Award. I accept it, not as a personal award, but as an award for my military veteran family…for my brotherhood. Thank you, Daisy Mountain Veterans, for that recognition and thank you, Rotary Club of Anthem, for your great support of our veteran community.”
As long as there are patriots fighting for freedom, we need nights like this to pay tribute to our active and retired military. The military ball is validation that their commitment and sacrifices matter, and it’s pretty special to experience their pride, joy, and comradery. It’s always evident when each branch of the military stands to sing their song.
For anyone who has been to this event or attended a Veteran’s Day ceremony, they are familiar with “The Missing Man Table or The Fallen Comrade Table.” This table is symbolic of loss and everlasting concern for our military members. It honors the fallen, the missing, or imprisoned service members. The remembrance is sacred to this community who share an oath to give themselves to a greater cause known as freedom.
One of the most touching moments of the night was the tribute to decorated Army aviator and community servant Ray Norris. He passed away in December. His gracious wife, Dale Norris was there to celebrate his military accomplishments and his philanthropic legacy. Ray’s vision to start a movement to help underprivileged teens continues through The Ray Norris Youth Project. His work is carried on by the members of Anthem Rotary Club.
It’s true, not everybody will attend a military ball, but we all have the ability to support our veterans and give them a proper thank you. They never wavered in their duty, and neither should we.
With Gratitude, Rotarian and Mother of a Navy Sailor, Krista Gawronski

Balancing SURGERY,
MOTHERHOOD
& Life in Anthem

WHEN YOU MEET Dr. Rachel Gerber, it doesn’t take long to realize she is both exceptionally driven and deeply grounded. A foot and ankle surgeon specializing in complex limb salvage, she is also a mother, wife, and Anthem neighbor who is equally passionate about saving limbs and making it home for bath time.
“I wanted to be a doctor since I was five,” she says. “For a long time, I thought I would become an orthopedic trauma surgeon. I did not plan on having kids. My whole focus was medicine.”
© Best Version Media
Life, however, has a way of reshaping even the most determined plans.
Dr. Rachel is a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, known as a DPM. Podiatric medical school differs from MD and DO programs in that while students take general medicine courses in the first two years, they also study foot and ankle subspecialties during that time. Eleven years ago, after meeting her husband, her priorities shifted. She withdrew her MD applications and chose podiatric medicine instead. That decision allowed her to pursue complex surgical work while creating space for family life with her young son.
“I get to do the complicated, intricate cases I love and still make it home for bath time.” Work life balance played a major role in that choice. While shadowing orthopedic trauma surgeons, she saw firsthand the intensity of constant call schedules. Today she practices at a high surgical level without formal trauma call, protecting time at home without sacrificing excellence in the operating room. Dr. Rachel completed four years of podiatric medical school in Des Moines, followed by a rigorous surgical residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chicago. “You constantly question whether you are good enough. You can worry about failing every test while still earning A’s. It is stressful.”
Her residency coincided with COVID, a time that reshaped medicine entirely. One hospital ran out of ventilators. Major amputations were performed under local anesthesia. Resources were scarce, and the emotional weight was immense. Even before residency, she had seen medicine in its rawest form. As a fourth year student, she spent six weeks in Africa working in emergency settings and specializing in clubfoot casting, a condition significantly more common there due to limited prenatal care.
Today Dr. Rachel specializes in reconstructive limb salvage, an advanced subspecialty focused on saving limbs others believe cannot be saved. She completed a fellowship in New Jersey under Dr. Michael Subik, where she refined her skills in complex case planning and complication management. “This is where I really learned how to think differently,” she says. “How to plan, how to have backup plans, and how to work through complications.” She thrives on cases others turn away. “I love the really complex cases. The ones where patients are told they need a below knee amputation. I have patients right now who were told that and are now walking.” The stakes are high. The mortality rate following a below knee amputation exceeds that of many cancers. For Dr. Rachel, saving a limb is about far more than mobility. It is about life expectancy, dignity, and independence. “When I can salvage a limb and give someone something they can walk on, that fills my cup.”
Motherhood entered her life during her attending years, and she approached it the same way she approaches surgery, with preparation and resilience. “My pregnancy was actually pretty easy,” she says with a laugh. “I have been through harder things. Medical school, residency, fellowship, losing my sister. Pregnancy was not the hardest part.” She operated until 38 weeks pregnant. Planning was everything. Knowing when cases needed to happen and when to rest in order to perform at her highest level. Efficiency became key, along with naps and frequent chiropractor visits. Her son has already been part of her professional world in ways few children are. She has rounded in the hospital with him on her back and brought him into the office so often that patients know him by name. When she returned from maternity leave, her patients confirmed the depth of their loyalty. “They came back. They brought presents. First birthday gifts. I am incredibly lucky to be where I am.”
Surgery remains male dominated, and she does not gloss over that reality. “There is this sense that as a woman in surgery, I cannot just be good. I have to be undeniably the best.” Her mindset is simple. Get two percent better every day. “There are studies showing that patients of female physicians often have lower mortality rates and better outcomes,” she says. “Women tend to spend more time with patients.”
She believes compassion is central to that difference.
“When patients open up, you learn why surgeries failed before. You learn what could have been prevented. It is a different approach. Let us figure this out together.” “I am thinking about your case before and after surgery. I pre plan every single case. I give patients my number. I call them. I am invested.”
She pauses. “Once I operate on you, my name is on your leg forever.”
Initially recruited for a Colorado position while living in New Jersey, the opportunity proved not to be the right fit. Then Arizona was offered. “I interviewed with the doctors, and Dr. Fischco wanted me here. I had been full time in Anthem for two years and now split my time between here and Paradise Valley. Anthem is small enough to feel homey but big enough to support my career.”
Rachel and Joe love their life in Anthem. The farmers markets, local events, and the ability to be outdoors year-round. Proximity to Flagstaff and Sedona allows them to hike and stay active, while Phoenix offers travel and opportunity. Her husband Joe coached college football when they met in Wisconsin. For the past three years he has coached the Boulder Creek football team. “He loves it. He loves his players. It is truly a passion project.”

Today Dr. Rachel is proof that excellence and motherhood are not mutually exclusive. In operating rooms and on neighborhood walks, in complex surgical cases and bedtime routines, she is building a life that reflects both ambition and heart. And in Anthem, she is exactly where she is meant to be.

FOR MORE THAN a decade, Anthem Giving Circle has demonstrated what happens when generosity is intentional and community comes first. Founded in 2010, the organization brings women together to pool their time, talents, and financial resources, thoughtfully supporting neighbors in need throughout Anthem. Every request is handled on a case-by-case basis, ensuring assistance is delivered with dignity, respect, and care.
What began as a small fundraiser featuring just 25 handbags has grown into Purses for a Purpose, a highly anticipated annual event welcoming more than

250 attendees. The evening reflects the heart of Anthem Giving Circle’s mission: connection, compassion, and meaningful local impact.
Support provided by Anthem Giving Circle ranges from food assistance and transportation to medical appointments and shopping, to help with essential utility bills during times of hardship. The impact extends far beyond one evening. Funds raised help stabilize households, support local schools and food banks, and meet immediate needs when families face unexpected challenges. Members also contribute thousands of volunteer hours annually, participating in health fairs,

back to school events, holiday initiatives, and signature outreach efforts such as distributing gently used purses filled with hygiene items before Mother’s Day and collecting new undergarments through the Fill the Cups fundraiser.
This year’s event blended heart and glamour seamlessly. Guests bid on handbags, raised paddles during the live auction, placed lucky tickets into beautifully curated raffle baskets, and posed for photos with Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, adding timeless elegance to an already meaningful evening.
The success of Purses for a Purpose was made possible by generous sponsors committed to community impact. The Red Carpet Sponsor was Andrew Z Diamonds and Fine Jewelry. Titanium Sponsors included Terri Kelley; Julie and Richard Kruse; Mike Higgins of RE/MAX Professionals; Rotary Club of Anthem; Anthem Living Magazine; and Emvee Salon. Platinum Sponsors included Todd Ninneman of RE/MAX Summit Properties and Eternal Beauty Med Spa. Nanette Miller of State Farm Insurance served as Gold Sponsor, with North Valley Water Solutions as Silver Sponsor.
And now for the celebration. Last year the organization raised $63,000, a 21% increase from 2024. This year the goal was $70,000, with a personal stretch goal of $75,000. The final net total was $88,000, representing a remarkable 40% increase. The leadership and members are amazed, grateful, and energized for what lies ahead. Because of this extraordinary generosity, Anthem Giving Circle will be able to help even more families in our community this year. Every sponsor, donor, volunteer, and guest was part of this history making event, and together, this community proved once again what is possible when purpose is paired with heart.

proper planning and thoughtful design, homeowners can enjoy beautiful outdoor spaces while protecting the environment for the future.
One of the most common challenges in desert landscaping is improper planning, specifically failing to place the right plant in the right location. Sun exposure during Arizona’s intense summer months is a critical factor. Plants that thrive in morning light may struggle in harsh afternoon sun, and selecting the correct placement makes all the difference in long-term plant health and water efficiency.
Desert plants also have unique growth cycles and different seasons for flowering, fruiting, and growth. Successful landscape management requires understanding these patterns and designing irrigation strategies that support them. Contrary to what many people think, maintaining a healthy desert landscape is not about adding more water! It is about watering correctly.
Deep watering practices encourage plants to develop stronger, deeper root systems. These roots allow plants to tolerate extreme heat and dry conditions with less frequent watering. When plants are watered properly, they experience less stress during peak summer temperatures and remain healthier throughout the year. Equally important is thoughtful irrigation planning. Micro-irrigation systems allow water to be delivered precisely to individual plants rather than using broad, inefficient watering methods.
At Arizona Outdoor Design Group, we believe that a well-planned landscape not only enhances the beauty of your home but also protects the resources that matter most. By choosing the right plants, using efficient irrigation, and practicing proper landscape management, homeowners can create outdoor spaces that are sustainable, resilient, and beautiful for years to come. Give us a call! We can guide you in making water-wise choices that have a benefit now and in the future! Your Plants will thank you for it by showing off their true potential!

ONYX LASER Helps Anthem Get Summer Ready
INANTHEM, SPRING doesn’t last long. Before we know it, the temperatures rise, the pool covers come off, and weekends start filling up with hiking, patio dinners, and afternoons at the community pool. With Arizona’s warm weather lasting most of the year, many residents are looking for ways to simplify their beauty and self-care routines - especially when it comes to hair removal.
Laser hair removal has become a popular option for people who are tired of the constant cycle of shaving or waxing. Instead of removing hair at the surface, laser treatments target the hair follicle beneath the skin using light energy. Over time, this slows down hair growth and can significantly reduce how much hair comes back.
Because hair grows in different cycles, treatments are spaced out over several weeks. That’s one reason spring is such a great time to start. Beginning treatments now can help people see noticeable progress before the peak of summer arrives - just in time for swimsuits, sandals, and sleeveless weather.
Many are also surprised to learn how versatile laser treatments have become. Common areas include underarms, legs, bikini areas, and facial hair, but treatments can be customized based on individual needs. Sessions are typically quick, and most people describe the sensation as a mild snapping feeling or warmth on the skin.
While laser hair removal is considered long-term hair reduction rather than permanent removal, the goal is to make hair finer, lighter, and much less noticeable over time.
Local residents looking to explore these treatments can find them right here in Anthem at Onyx Laser. The clinic offers a range of laser hair removal services designed to help simplify beauty routines and support long-term results. With personalized consultations and treatment plans tailored to each client, Onyx Laser focuses on helping individuals achieve smoother skin while fitting treatments into busy schedules. Those interested in learning more about available services, pricing, or booking an appointment can visit the website at onyxlaser.glossgenius.com to explore options and get started.

WHY BANZERINI HOUSE ACADEMY
BANZERINI HOUSE ACADEMY is not just another theatre program. It is a place where young artists are challenged to grow, create, and discover what they are capable of.
Students who train at Banzerini House step into a world of storytelling. They learn how to bring characters to life, work as an ensemble, and develop the confidence it takes to stand in front of an audience or camera and truly perform.
Our academy offers training in acting, film, musical theatre, dance, and audition technique. Students do not simply sit in a classroom. They learn by doing. Throughout the season they participate in live productions, film projects, and performance opportunities that push them to develop real skills.
We believe young people rise to the level of expectation placed in front of them. When students are treated like artists, they begin to see themselves as artists. They learn discipline, commitment, creativity, and the courage to take risks.
Banzerini House is also a community. Students build friendships, learn teamwork, and become part of a creative environment where imagination is encouraged, and hard work is celebrated.
Whether a student dreams of performing on stage or screen or simply wants a place to grow in confidence and creativity, Banzerini House provides a training ground where passion and dedication come together.
The next generation of storytellers begins here. Now enrolling for the 2026 to 2027 season.

Women Who Lead Becky Goodwillie

“NO,”
BECKY SAYS with a laugh when asked if Auto care was always the plan. “I guess it started when Steve went to automotive school 22 years ago. I worked fulltime to support us, and then it all just evolved naturally. Once I saw his potential, it became our family mission.”
What began as supporting her husband’s dream grew into something much bigger. “It was his dream, and I supported it. He is literally one of the best European mechanics in the area. It’s a passion—we love it. And I am learning alongside him.” Together, they built not just a business, but a shared purpose.
Becky believes women bring something truly powerful to the automotive space— especially in an industry that has long been male-dominated. She points to qualities like approachability, conversation, and the ability to create comfort as essential strengths.
“Women are often intimidated by the automotive field—whether it’s something as simple as an oil change or as major as new tires,” she explains. “It’s important to have women in the shop who can make other women feel comfortable, heard, and confident that they’re not being taken advantage of.” Becky actively mentors and connects with other women through bi-monthly Women in Autocare Zoom calls, encouraging collaboration instead of competition.
Her advice to overwhelmed women? “Reach out for support from one another.” Creating that comfort starts with simple human connection. “When women come into the shop, I talk with them about more than just their cars. We connect on many other things, our families, struggles, wins, and joys”
Her journey, however, has not been without hardship. A challenging health diagnosis changed the whole trajectory of her life, both personally and professionally. “We had a lot of community and family support, and Steve got me through it,” she shares. The hardest part? “The mental load of being sick, I found myself in a place where I couldn’t do what I’ve always done.”
But that season reshaped her perspective. “It taught me that you can come back. It’s not the end—you get to start over.” And she remembers the moment she realized her strength: “At the end of my month-long hospital stay—I realized that did it, I survived.”
In many ways, that experience became the catalyst for entrepreneurship. “That is the reason why we opened the shop. We realized that life is short—why keep working for someone else? Let’s go all in.”
Balancing business ownership and motherhood, she says candidly, “It looks like chaos. It looks like a lot of working on my laptop in the school pickup line.” But it also means flexibility—the freedom of chaperoning school field trips, class parties, and being able to take family vacations. “We didn’t get to do that while he worked at the dealership.”
The values she models for her children are simple: “Honesty and integrity.” The legacy she hopes to leave is both personal and professional. “In my family, I hope to leave a legacy that you can do it all. I want our kids to do everything. In business, I hope we create a change in the way shops are run.”

WHAT’S NEXT?
“Growth. With even more technicians.” And with that quiet confidence, Becky continues building something bigger than a shop—she’s building community, courage, and change.

FORSTRENGTH TRAINING FOR WOMEN BENEFITS BEYOND PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
DECADES, STRENGTH training was often viewed as something primarily for men or elite athletes. Many women were encouraged to focus mainly on cardio or to lift very light weights out of concern that heavier training would cause them to “bulk up.” Modern research and experience tell a different story. Strength training is one of the most effective ways for women to improve long-term physical health, mental well-being, and confidence.
Strength training, or resistance training, involves exercises that make muscles work against resistance such as free weights, machines, resistance bands, or body weight. The goal is to challenge muscles so they gradually become stronger through consistent progression. Over time, small increases in resistance or repetitions lead to meaningful improvements in strength and fitness.
One of the most common misconceptions is that lifting weights makes women bulky. In reality, women generally have lower testosterone levels than men, making large muscle growth unlikely without specialized training and nutrition. Instead, strength training typically builds lean muscle, improves body composition, enhances natural shape, and increases overall strength. It also boosts metabolism because muscle tissue burns more energy than fat, helping the body burn more calories throughout the day and making long-term weight management more sustainable.
Strength training is also essential for bone health. Women face an increased risk of osteoporosis as they age, especially after menopause. Resistance training strengthens bones, joints, and connective tissue, helping reduce the risk of fractures and supporting long-term mobility. It also improves hormonal and metabolic health by supporting insulin sensitivity and more stable energy levels.
Say Goodbye to BACKYARD ODORS with

Stink Xtinct
Beyond physical health, strength training improves functional strength—the ability to perform everyday activities with ease. Tasks such as carrying groceries, lifting children, climbing stairs, and maintaining good posture become easier and safer. Increased strength also helps reduce the risk of injury and supports independence later in life.
The mental and emotional benefits are equally important. Strength training can help reduce stress, anxiety, and symptoms of depression by stimulating moodsupporting chemicals in the brain. Many women find that lifting weights provides a sense of focus and stress relief. Confidence also grows through measurable progress, such as lifting heavier weights or mastering new movements, helping women develop trust in their bodies and abilities.
Women benefit from strength training at every stage of life. In early adulthood, it helps build muscle and establish healthy habits. In midlife, it helps counter agerelated muscle loss and maintain energy levels. Later in life, it supports balance, mobility, and independence—as research showing benefits for memory, focus, and long-term brain function. Although muscle naturally declines with age, consistent strength training can significantly slow this process.
Strength training does not require excessive time in the gym. Two to four structured sessions per week can provide significant benefits. While combining strength training with cardiovascular exercise produces the best overall results, consistency matters more than intensity. Ultimately, strength training is not just about appearance. It is about building strength, resilience, and confidence that support a healthier and more capable life.

SUPPORTING NEURODIVERSITY
IN OUR COMMUNITY
PRACTICE PATIENCE AND KINDNESS
APRIL IS RECOGNIZED as Autism Awareness Month, a time dedicated to increasing understanding, acceptance, and support for individuals on the autism spectrum. Across communities like Anthem, families, educators, and neighbors all play a role in creating environments where every child can feel valued and supported. By learning more about autism and embracing neurodiversity, we can help build a stronger and more inclusive community for everyone.
Here are five simple ways our community can support autism awareness this April.
LEARN ABOUT AUTISM
Autism spectrum disorder affects individuals in different ways, and every person with autism has unique strengths and challenges. Taking time to learn about autism helps reduce misconceptions and builds greater understanding in our communities.
CELEBRATE NEURODIVERSITY
Neurodiversity recognizes that differences in how people think, learn, and experience the world are valuable. Encouraging acceptance and celebrating these differences helps create environments where all children can thrive.

NOW ENROLLING
Providing students on the AUTISM spectrum, a whole child education that improves their quality of life and prepares them for the future.
• Free Tuition through ESA
• Life-Skills
• Therapeutic Support
• Sensory Rooms
• Small Group Learning
Small moments of patience and kindness can make a big difference. Whether it’s in a classroom, at the park, or during community events, understanding that some individuals may communicate or interact differently helps create a more welcoming environment.
SUPPORT INCLUSIVE EDUCATION
Schools and educators play an important role in helping students with autism build skills, confidence, and independence. Supporting inclusive education ensures that every child has access to opportunities that meet their individual needs.
START CONVERSATIONS WITH YOUR CHILDREN
Parents can help build a more inclusive future by talking with their children about empathy, kindness, and respecting differences. Teaching children early that everyone learns and communicates in their own way helps foster acceptance that lasts a lifetime.
Autism Awareness Month is a reminder that when communities come together with understanding and support, every individual has the opportunity to grow, succeed, and feel valued.

RESTORING VITALITY
A Functional Medicine Approach to Gut Repair
HEALTHY DIGESTIVE
FUNCTION depends on proper gut motility. Motility helps cultivate a vibrant gut microbiome made up of bacteria, fungi, and viruses that play a vital role in maintaining gut health. When this microbiome becomes imbalanced, whether there is too much or too little of certain microorganisms, dysbiosis can occur. Dysbiosis may cause inflammation of the gut lining, loosening the tight junctions between intestinal cells and creating pathways for particles and pathogens to enter the bloodstream. This increased intestinal permeability is commonly known as leaky gut.
In a healthy gut, the intestinal lining acts as a selective barrier. It allows water and nutrients into the bloodstream while preventing toxins, bacteria, viruses, and undigested food from entering. When permeability increases, this barrier becomes less effective and may trigger inflammation throughout the body.
Leaky gut has been associated with chronic inflammatory conditions such as Celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, autoimmune disorders, neurological disorders, and mood disorders. In functional medicine, it is often viewed as a symptom of an underlying imbalance rather than a standalone diagnosis.
CAUSES AND RISK FACTORS
Several factors may contribute to increased intestinal permeability:
• Chronic stress
• Gut microbiome dysbiosis
• Excessive alcohol intake
• Low stomach acid
• Anxiety or depression
• Poor diet high in processed sugars and refined foods
COMMON SIGNS OF LEAKY GUT
Symptoms may include:
• Gas, bloating, abdominal pain, indigestion, and food sensitivities
• Constipation, diarrhea, or both
• Headaches or migraines
• Anxiety, depression, ADD or ADHD
• Low fiber and water intake
• Food sensitivities
• Artificial sweeteners, additives, and preservatives
• Toxin exposure including pesticides, cigarette smoke, and microplastics
• PPIs, NSAIDs, antibiotics, and antibacterial overuse
• Quality sleep. Aim for seven to nine hours of uninterrupted sleep nightly to support microbiome balance
• Clinical nutrition. Individualized dietary plans emphasize fiber-rich foods along with prebiotic and probiotic sources. Probiotics are beneficial living microorganisms that support gut balance, while prebiotics are plant fibers that feed healthy gut bacteria
• Exercise and spiritual wellbeing. Movement and emotional balance support overall and digestive health
Leaky gut is often part of chronic inflammatory conditions and may stem from multiple underlying causes. While identifying contributing factors can feel overwhelming, you do not have to navigate it alone. Working with Dr. Paw Kamwee at Restoring Vitality Naturopathic Clinic allows you to explore root causes and develop a personalized plan to restore gut integrity. The body has an innate ability to support and heal itself. It sometimes just needs the right tools and guidance.

• Brain fog and poor concentration
• Weight gain, hair loss, chronic fatigue
• Skin issues such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, or rosacea
• Joint pain or arthritis
At Restoring Vitality, Dr. Paw Kamwee approaches leaky gut treatment individually. Functional medicine laboratory testing may help identify contributing factors.
LABORATORY TESTING MAY INCLUDE
• Food sensitivity testing to identify reactions to foods and additives that may trigger inflammation
• Comprehensive stool testing with Zonulin levels. Elevated Zonulin is linked to increased intestinal permeability. Microbiome analysis can detect bacterial imbalances, parasites, or overgrowth
