Welcome to Organizational Behavior: Developing Skills for Managers by Eric Lamm and Jennifer Tosti-Kharas!

Using the Revel online platform, this digital text offers a one-stop option for assigned readings, video cases, interactive activities, assessments, and more. Not only is the text completely available online through multiple devices, most, if not all, chapter resources can also be facilitated using telecommunication software such as Zoom and WebEx. For example, Zoom enables instructors to organize students into virtual breakout rooms where student teams or groups can work independently without distracting others. This feature also enables instructors to join and exit each virtual breakout room to monitor student progress and/or answer questions.

Additionally, most telecommunication software has improved to allow asynchronous recording and teaching features such as raising your hand. Should instructors want to conduct their course fully online, this Instructor’s Manual is adaptable for facilitating online classes.

This Instructor’s Manual offers support for instructors to comfortably develop and lead an engaging class on Organizational Behavior that can be easily adapted to meet their own needs and objectives.

Part I of this Instructor’s Manual briefly introduces the course features in more detail. Part II offers the chapter-by-chapter instructional resources that are briefly summarized in Part I.

Revel OB Digital Features Assignments Instructors can manage the students’ content by choosing which chapters to include for the semester. After choosing a particular chapter, instructors can assign which sections of the chapter they wish for students to complete and designate due dates. For example, after choosing “Chapter 1: Identifying OB Skills for Managers,” instructors can check the box “1.1: What is Organizational Behavior (OB)?” and set a due date for students to complete that part of the chapter, or they can check all of the boxes and set a due date for students to complete the full chapter.

Each chapter assignment includes the features that are briefly discussed below:

Introduction. The introduction sets the stage for students by briefly summarizing the learning objectives and by including a Find Your Baseline feature that allows students to gauge how much they know and how much they will know about the chapter.

On Location. The On Location feature provides students with short video clips of real people in real organizations to bring the chapter to life. This helps to reinforce the relevance of the OB theories and concepts they will learn over the course of the semester.

Learning Objectives. The learning objectives are labeled numerically. They are essentially where the bulk of the OB theories and concepts are introduced and thoroughly discussed for student learning. Within each learning objective, there are interactive activities that help students to immediately apply what they learned in the chapter.

Check Your Understanding Exercises. Practice questions throughout each section keep students on track and actively engaged.

Active Learning Exercises. These exercises appear throughout each chapter to introduce concepts, provide experiential exercises, and encourage students to reflect on their own management values and the impact of different approaches.

Personal Inventory Assessments. The Personal Inventory Assessments offer students virtual surveys on key chapter concepts to help build their self-awareness. When students complete the assessments, they are not only able to see their individual scores, but also how they rank against the class and the instructor.

Key Skills Takeaways. The Key Skills Takeaways feature helps to conclude the chapter by briefly summarizing the main points and the main skills students are expected to have learned about in a short numeric list.

The BIG Picture. The BIG Picture feature takes the OB theories and concepts students read in the chapter and broadens the perspective, often by posing challenging questions and building connections between chapters and the course objectives.

Key Terms. The Key Terms feature provides students with virtual index cards that they can shuffle through to study the material for quizzes and/or exams. It allows students to determine which terms they have mastered and which they still need to review.

Learning Check Quiz. The Learning Check feature provides students with an end-ofchapter quiz to check what they know after having read the assignments. Instructors have full discretion to choose whether these questions are used for student review, whether they count toward student grades, and whether to assign these questions at all.

Video Case Analysis. The Video Case Analysis feature provides students with short video clips of real people in real organization to apply the chapter concepts to real-world scenarios. Each video analysis includes discussion questions that instructors can revisit in class, and critical thinking questions students can answer in the course.
