Contract Review In review of the contract I did find 5 areas of the contract that I would change. The first was in the Performances of Services section. It now states that:
Rasmussen Hospital and Clinics will not review assigned coders' resumes, contact previous healthcare facilities, and reject any coders of ABC Coding Services.

I feel this poses a risk to the facility by not making sure that the employees doing the work, just like if it was being done in house the coders were ethical and compliant at
this and previous positions. Rasmussen Hospital could be held accountable for breaches of the EHR if the proper checks were not done on the employees. The change I would make to that would be for it to read this way:
Rasmussen Hospital and Clinics will be able to review assigned coders' resumes, contact previous healthcare facilities, or reject any coders of ABC Coding Services as seen fit.
The second area of change is in the same section Performances of Services. It

This also poses a risk to Rasmussen Hospital if the records were not able to be reviewed for consistency and accuracy when needed. This could open the hospital up to non-

compliance issues and cause harm to the organization as a whole financially and reputably. The change I would make is for it to read this way:
Rasmussen Hospital and Clinics can and will review coded records from ABC Coding Services as to acceptable standards of coding accuracy and how performance will be measured.
The third area of change is also in the section Performance of Services. It now

states: Rasmussen Hospital and Clinics will not terminate the use of a particular coder when acceptable standards of accuracy are not maintained.
This would allow the Hospital to not accept the use of a coder that is not performing to standards that are set by the Hospital itself. If standards are not met or maintained it
causes harm to the organization. The Hospital needs to be able to refuse the work if it is not meeting requirements. The change I would make to this would be to word it in this way:
Rasmussen Hospital and Clinics retains the right to terminate the use of a particular coder when acceptable standards of accuracy are not

The fourth area of change that should be considered is in the Term/Termination
section of the agreement. It reads now:
This Agreement shall terminate automatically upon completion by ABC Coding Services of the Services required by this Agreement. Either party
