Thisreefstartsjustafewshortstepsacrossthesoft silversandfromthedivecenter.Thereisaplateau areawithdepthsof5-25feetofferingbrightcoral islandsalivewithreeffishofallcolorsandsizes. Thisistheportionvisitedbyourintroductory scubastudents.Thereeffallsquicklyawayfrom20 to140feetinasolidwallofmixedcorals;schools offishdartamongstthesoftandhardcoralswith aneverwatchfuleyeontheirpredatorswaitingin thedeep.Mostofourdiversstaymid-range,at5060feet,allowingdiverstoseethefullrangeofthe reeffromthesparklingwaternearthesurfaceto thedepths,throughhugesponges,wavingsea fansandhundredsoftypesofcorals.
Pinnacles
Thisisprobablyourmostvisuallystunningdive site.Fourspectacularseamountsrisedramatically fromthedepthstowithinafewfeetofthesurface. Theseareencrustedwithaprofusionofblackand orangegorgonian,andthislacynetworkprovides shelterfortrumpetfish,filefish,andsometimes seahorses.Largefishes-grouper,jack,andsnapper -canbespottedaroundthePinnacles.Votedone ofthe‘10BestDiveSites”byCaribbeanTravel&Life magazine.

AshortboattripfromthedivecenterisourbeautifullocationofFairyland.This areaonamajorheadlandissubjectattimestoverystrongcurrents-thishasthe benefitofgivingthesiteexcellentvisibility,andkeepingthecoralsverycleanso thatitsparkleswiththevibrantcolorsofmanyvarietiesofcoralandsponges.The plateauareaslopesgentlyfrom40to80feet;ourdivesareusually50feetand shalloweronthissite.Largebouldersgiveplentyofnooksandcranniesforfishto shelterin.
Superman’sFlight
Atenminuteboattripsouthfromthedivecenter,acrossSoufriereBay,bringsour diverstothebaseofthespectacularPetitPitonMountain.Theclifffaceherewas usedasasettingforthefilmSupermanII–Supermancanbeseenflyingdown theclifffacedowntowardthewater,andourdiverscanflyalongitbelowthe surface.Thereareoftenstrongcurrentsonthissite,whichhelptogiveitgood visibility.Thesteepslopehereiscoveredwithbeautifulsoftcorals,andthereisa greatprofusionoffishlife.
WreckofTheLesleenM
Thiswreckislocatedtothenorthofthedivecenter,andourdiveboatstake approximately15minutestoreachthesite.The165footfreighterwassunkin October1986aspartofaprojectbytheDepartmentofFisheriestoprovideartificialreefs.Itiscoveredinsoftcorals,spongesandhydroids,andprovidesanideal habitatformanyjuvenilefishessuchasNassauGroupers,QueenandFrench Angelfishes.Thewrecksitsonanevenkeelonthesand.Itis30feettothedeck, and67feetatthedeepestpoint.
