We were recently notified that Kaiser Foundation Health Plan has contracted with Optum to data mine CPT code utilization Effective October 1, 2024, Optum will start sending a letter similar to the one on the next page when the provider’s utilization of a designated CPT code is outside of the average utilization for providers within the same specialty.
This notice is informational only and no action is needed. However, should you receive the letter from Optum, we are asking that you please forward it to ACE at ACEAuditED@cumedicne.us so that we can see the activity and proactively perform our own internal review and education as needed
We appreciate your partnership and dedication to compliant documentation, coding, and billing.

spotlight rachel mcpherson
This month, it’s time for a spotlight on one of our incredible clinicians here at CU Vascular Surgery!
Rachel McPherson, PA, has been with CU since February of 2019 In that time, she has worked at our Highlands Ranch location as an expert in “the potpourri“ of vascular care. In her free time, Rachel loves to be outdoors. Snowmobiling was simply a practical way to get around while growing up in Minnesota, but now it’s a hobby that she and her family enjoy while in the mountains. Outside of snowmobiling, Rachel enjoys skiing, hockey, and days on the lake with her friends. On her off days, catch her at Seasons 52 or enjoying some sushi!
While Rachel became a hockey fan growing up in Minnesota, she has grown to love Colorado’s own Avalanche and, while it wasn’t exactly her choice, her garage is emblazoned with Broncos colors.
