Kevin will be joining the pediatric urology team on June 3rd He brings with him 24 years of experience as a PA and lead APP in the Department of Pediatric Urology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami, Florida He is fluent in Spanish, and his passion has been to serve children and families, particularly in underserved communities.

Please note that any administrative leave earned for working during the winter holiday to maintain clinical operations, as well as for Juneteenth, must be used by June 30.

Dr. Paul Maroni - Primary Investigator

Dr. Maroni, via a randomized, double blinded study, is studying the effect of Green Tea Catechins (GTC) in men on active surveillance for prostate cancer. The goal is to study the effect of GTC on biological and clinical intermediate biomarkers

penile cancer trial

his study is comparing outcomes for penile cancer when treated with inguinal lymph node dissection (ILND) surgery alone vs. urgery and chemotherapy/radiation therapy

oncolytic adenovirus treatment

Dr. Janet Kukreja - Primary Investigator

Dr Kukreja is mid-study investigating Cretostimogene Grenadenorepvec as a treatment for Non-Muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer. The study population is made up of patients whose cancer was previously unresponsive to Bacillus Calmette-Guerin. Opening a new cohort soon!

AUA summary

A reflection on Urology’s biggest weekend

This weekend’s annual American Urological Association conference (AUA) was full of exciting presentations, reunions with former colleagues, and innovation after innovation Check out the below for

Dr. Brett Wiesen, a third-year-resident, brought home the Residents Bowl trophy along with the rest of his team, named (incredibly) Scrotal Recall. Brett also presented three posters over the course of the weekend.

Our own Chief Dr. Randall Meacham han President Steve Nakada and spent the ev g awards to leaders in the field.

Several of Dr. Brian Flynn‘ s recorded robotic surgeries were on display for all attendees, displaying his innovative techniques and skills.

And last but not least, Dr. Janet Kukreja presented several times at the Bladder Cancer Symposium, bringing her breadth of knowledge to the standing-room only audience!

Third-year Urology resident 11th annual Resident Bowl winner

Third-year resident Brett Wiesen is an AUA vet. Heading into his third year at the conference with three presentations ahead, he had every right to feel nervous instead, he says it was the one he felt most comfortable attending “Preparation for the conference was smooth,” he said. And as for his favorite part? “It is alwaysnicecatchingupwithfriendsfromotherinstitutions.Urologyisasmallworld.”The biggestchallenge,hesays,wasthetimecrunch.“TheweeksleadinguptoAUAalwaysfeel abithectic,butultimatelytheprojectswerewellreceivedandasuccess.”
