HEALTH WEEK 2026 Health and wellness are important components of a healthy work-life balance. At AMDI, we believe in supporting our employees by providing access to health services and encouraging them to make healthy lifestyle choices.
Reana Anderson - Health and Safety Officer
Led by our dedicated Health and Safety Officer, Reana Anderson, this year’s Health Week took a different approach. Rather than limiting activities to our Georgetown location, Reana, with the support of Denita, expanded the initiative to reach AMDI employees across all of our locations throughout the country.
This year’s Health Week was a reflection of our commitment to ensuring that wellness remains accessible to our employees, no matter where they are located, while creating opportunities for our teams to prioritize their health and well-being.

GROWING WITH GUYANA: WORK STUDY ATTACHMENT 2026 At ANSA McAL Distribution Inc. (AMDI), we believe that learning extends beyond the classroom. This year, we welcomed several work-study students to our team, giving them the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience while contributing to our day-to-day operations. Through their time at AMDI, the students were exposed to the professional work environment, gained insight into different areas of the business, and developed important skills such as communication, teamwork, time management and responsibility. We are proud to play a part in shaping the next generation of young professionals and providing opportunities for students to learn, grow and prepare for their future careers.
EMANCIPATION DRESS DOWN
On July 31, 2026, AMDI staff brought the spirit of Emancipation to life in vibrant African prints as the celebration began.
EMANCIPATION DRESS DOWN Emancipation Day in Guyana is observed on August 1, commemorating the historic abolition of slavery in 1834. The occasion marks the end of dehumanization and celebrates the African spirit’s resurgence within the Guyanese nation. Reflect on the journey to freedom, take part in cultural events, and support initiatives that preserve this vital heritage.
EMANCIPATION DRESS DOWN Although slavery was abolished on August 1, 1834, full freedom for those who had been enslaved did not come immediately. The period of apprenticeship followed until August 1, 1838, when full emancipation was achieved.
EMANCIPATION DRESS DOWN
Today, Emancipation is more than a remembrance of the past. It is an opportunity to recognize the strength, resilience and contributions of African ancestors and their descendants, whose culture, traditions and experiences continue to shape Guyana.

The day created an opportunity for our employees to share a part of their work life with their children, while fostering a greater sense of connection and family within our workplace.
