On the evening of March 7th, a festive atmosphere filled the Johanna Cecilia, Essequibo Branch, as the AMDI team celebrated the branch's first anniversary.

During his address to attendees, Mr. Troy Cadogan, Managing Director praise the branch for an outstanding year of meeting and exceeding targets. “Essequibo’s performance over the past year is nothing short of excellence. We are proud of the dedicated staff and loyal customers that make this branch a major success.

Susheema Dindyal, Branch Supervisor, thanked her team for their excellent support as they work to continue to provide excellent customer service to their customers.

One of the customers present shared their appreciation for the high level of service they experienced even prior to the branch's opening. This reflects AMDI's commitment to excellence.

ANSA McAL renews sponsorship for Parkside Steel Orchestra

ANSA McAL Distribution Inc. (AMDI) was proud to once again sponsor the Parkside Steel Orchestra for this year’s Panorama competition, held on February 19 at Kingston Beach.

Speaking at a simple ceremony held at the AMDI’s headquarters, Darshanie YusufAbel, Divisional Head – Beverage, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to Parkside, recognizing the band’s dedication to producing excellence and their efforts to give back to the community.

“Parkside has done amazing, winning tournaments continuously. It is not only about winning, but Parkside has also been building into generations, into communities, forming the next generation of pannists,” Yusuf-Abel said.

AMDI’s support, according to Ms. YusufAbel, extends beyond a “one off” sponsorship, as the company promises to assist Parkside outside of the Panorama competition.

Since its establishment in 1998, the now ANSA McAL Parkside Steel Orchestra has been performing exceptionally well, winning over ten Mashramani panorama competitions. There is also a junior aspect of the band titled, ‘The Pan Wave Academy’, which provides young children with an opportunity to learn the steel-pan.

The Ptolemy reid Centre hosted a rally for individuals with autism on April 2 at the Guyana National Gymnasium under the theme, “fearless change.” The event was planned to empower individuals and remind them they have a community to thrive. AMDI provided beverages to 200 attendees.

AMDI Supported the foundation’s annual walk to raise awareness about Epilepsy.

In celebration of the Republic, schools throughout Guyana organized educational tours to various organizations. AMDI had the privilege of hosting two schools from Berbice: Rosignol Primary School and No. 48 Primary School.

AMDI joined the celebration of Earth Hour hosted by World Wildlife Fund Inc. on March 22, 2025. “Earth Hour is an annual moment of unity that brings Guyanese together, spotlights nature loss, and the climate crises. It also inspires people to act and advocate for positive action towards nature,” Kemptorne Daly. This year, Earth Hour was celebrated on world water day with a focus on promoting sustainable practices for safeguarding freshwater resources in Guyana.

To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of ProCare Therapy and Wellness Centre, the organization held a Health and Wellness Expo at Sunflower Circle, South Ruimveldt on Mar 8, 2025. AMDI supported by providing five hampers with some essential health and wellness products along with products from our beverage and consumer goods division.

The University of Guyana Student Society assisted two students residing on campus who welcomed the support as they dedicate their time to achieve their academic goals.

The students were not only grateful but also pleasantly surprised to receive these thoughtful packages.

According to the president of UGSS, Ms. Tirishata Semple, “[AMDI’s] kindness has made a meaningful impact, and we truly appreciate your commitment to student welfare.”

Every year, the Ministry of health national AIDS Programme Secretariat (NAPS) executes a youth camp for adolescents living with HIV. The camp is aimed at supporting their health and well-being, helping them to thrive in every aspect of their lives while at the same time teaching the importance of reducing transmission.

Expressions of love and appreciation come in various forms. At AMDI, we showed our gratitude to our colleagues by writing simple notes of thanks. In addition to sharing notes, we distributed delicious valentine cupcakes to every member of our staff.

Channa Curry Competition

ANSA McAL is known for hosting the most exciting internal competitions. Last March we held our Inter Department Chief Curry Competition with participation from eight teams, spreading across from our sister companies. At the end of demonstrating their culinary skills, team marketing came out on top, winning for the second consecutive year.

Logistics managed to gain second with Essequibo coming in third.
