Balram’s Journey: From Hand-packing, to mastering the forklift For 17 years, Balram Narine Rajaram, has been a familiar face at ANSA McAL, navigating the warehouse. At almost 60 years old, he holds the title of the longest serving forklift operator - a position he takes immense pride in. A position he serves selflessly that granted him the ‘Employee of the Year’ award for 2024.

Rajaram began his career in carpentry and joinery, but after being employed with AMDI, he recognised his love for working in the warehouse and began from the very bottom, hand packing goods. Although it was demanding, Rajaram embraced it.

“I appreciate everything I do,” he often says, a simple yet profound statement that reflects his outlook on life.

Balram’s Journey: From Hand-packing, to mastering the forklift Never late for work, he moved up the ranks. His hands, once crafting furniture, soon gripped the controls of a forklift. Over time, he became a master of the warehouse, seamlessly maneuvering heavy loads.

ANSA did not only provide him with a career - it helped him build a home for his family. “I build my house working at ANSA,” he said with a smile.

From hand-packing to forklift operating, Balram’s story is one of resilience and success.

This is the case for eight (8) lucky winners of the Ariel’s 8x Million Magic Christmas Promotion which began October 1, 2024 and concluded on December 8, 2024.

How they won?

Shoppers simply purchased any two Ariel soap powder, emptied the packets, placed them in an envelope with their name and contact details, then dropped that into one of the entry boxes at participating locations. Voila! 1 million dollars In an interview, one of the millionaires, Allan Burnett, said he consistently shops Ariel products and has won two times prior in 2017.

Christmas is a season dedicated to celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, and what could be more joyful than giving children a memorable experience? Last year's celebration was a tremendous success, with over 70 children from St. John Bosco’s Orphanage for boys, Bless the Children’s Home, and Hope Children Home joining in the festivities.

Children had a great time playing indoor games like musical chairs and Get-toknow-you. Additionally, the bouncy castle and trampoline were also used to make the most of their time.

One lucky person walked away with a cash prize of $500, 000 while eleven won $100,000 each for the Strike it Rich on the Rhythms Pitch promotion over a course of two months beginning in November and concluding Deceomber 12th, 2024. All they had to do was purchase two Tropical Rhythm, either/or 475 ml or the 1 litre. This gave them a chance to enter once. The more they purchase the more their chances increased.

In Guyana, breast cancer cases increased from 123 in 2020 to 186 in 2022. Prostate cancer is also experiencing a similar rise, with 129 cases reported in 2022.

Additionally, cervical cancer is on the upswing. These statistics reveal that Guyana is facing an escalating cancer epidemic that shows little indication of abating.

On October 27, 2024, several members participated in the OneComm Pinktober Walk.

Why do we walk?

We walk to stand in solidarity with those affected by breast cancer and to honor the memory of those who have lost loved ones.

The Health Ministry has been actively enhancing access to screening and treatment by providing more regional hospitals with mammogram services and increasing the availability of essential cancer medications. In 2024, four new mammogram machines were purchased and set up in hospitals located in areas that previously did not have these vital diagnostic resources.

The AMDI team created a lively GUYEXPO Village that showcased all brands across two divisions. Families were entertained with games and lots of giveaways in the consumer goods area. Meanwhile, the beverage team held down the party goers with a vibrant party village featuring Heineken, Magnum, Hennessy and Bacardi.

On October 25, 2024, Team IT/Finance enjoyed a stroke of luck, taking first prize in our annual Rangoli Competition! Merchandisers earned second place with an original design, and Team Berbice followed in third.

IN THE NEWS AMDI’s supports the Petra Goodwill Series for the 5th time ANSA McAL Distribution Inc., through its Lucozade brand, has reaffirmed its partnership with the Petra Organisation for the upcoming KFC International Goodwill Football Series for the fifth consecutive year.

ANSA McAL has been a valued partner of the Goodwill Series, and by extension, the Petra Organisation, which is directed by Troy Mendonca and Marlan Cole.

The importance of this alliance was highlighted on December 4th, 2025, with the renewal of support for the upcoming KFC International Goodwill Series.

Triston Freeman, ANSA McAL’s Business Unit Head (Non-Alcoholic), praised the organizers for providing local players with the chance to showcase their skills against regional competitors. He also conveyed the company’s excitement about being involved in this annual event.

Scheduled to begin on Sunday, December 15, at the Queen’s College ground in the city, the tournament will feature schools from Jamaica, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago competing against their Guyanese peers.

ANSA McAl Distribution Inc. (AMDI) was pleased to announce its collaboration with Kashif and Shangai Organization for the staging of the One Guyana National Futsal Championship.

In a brief press conference held December 2, 2025 at the company’s headquarters, AMDI’s brand representatives, Triston Freeman (Lucozade), Jamal Baird (Magnum) and Tanita Hunter (Heineken) all expressed their commitment to supporting the championship which concluded on January 3, 2025.

According to Mr. Muhammed Kashif, 64 teams, both male and female, from around Guyana will battle it out at the National Gymnasium with some games later being played at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Ansa McAL Distribution Inc. and Sensodyne were honored to sponsor the Annual Dental Convention 2024 that was held from the 15th to the 17th November 2024 at the Pegasus Corporate Centre.

The convention featured a range of insightful discussions, hands-on workshops, and presentations addressing the latest trends and challenges in dentistry, including advancements in technology and enhanced patient care techniques.

Attendees had valuable opportunities to network and form meaningful connections. Dr. Raj Singh played a prominent role, leading sessions on digital dentistry and demonstrating how emerging technologies can improve patient outcomes and streamline clinical workflows. Overall, the event highlighted the critical role of ongoing education in advancing dental care for the community.
