Registration for Spring recreational baseball and softball is held at Murphey Candler Park. For fees, registration dates and ages offered, please visit the specific youth association websites listed below
YOUTH BASEBALL
Spring season is the primary season for Murphey Candler Baseball. Each spring Murphey Candler provides a great experience for approximately 1,000 youngsters across nine leagues, based on age. Spring season begins in February and lasts through the end of May. Our seven baseball diamonds will host games each weeknight at 5:30 for the younger players, and either 5:30 or 7:30 for the older players. Games will also be played throughout the day on Saturdays. In addition to the regular leagues, Murphey Candler also sponsors a team in the North Atlanta Challenger League, for children with special needs, as well as our own Frontier League program. League age for baseball is based on each player’s age as of April 30, 2023. Leagues are formed for players of league ages 4 through 12.
www.murpheycandler.org
Player requests: Teams are put together via a draft for all leagues except Rookie, Southern, Challenger and Frontier. Due to the draft, requests are only applicable to new players in Rookie and Southern and can be made at the time of registration. Requests are not guaranteed and are not accepted for returning players or players in our draft leagues. YOUTH FOOTBALL & CHEER
ACYA Tackle Football 2023 (Colt D1 & Intraleague)
ACYA offers recreational flag football leagues, recreational intra-league football, Division 1 Travel Football and cheerleading. Please visit www.atlantacolts.com for more information.
Atlanta Colts Youth Association offers two different tackle football experiences for kids. Our Colt D1 Program is one of the oldest and most successful youth tackle football programs in Georgia. Having been established in 1965, it has a rich history of success including multiple national championship teams and has seen several players go on to play in college and the NFL.
The Colts play across NW Georgia and this program is for 8-11-year-olds looking for a more competitive brand of football. Our Intraleague tackle football program has an equally successful history and had a record number of participants across grades 1st through 7th in 2022 and this program is designed to allow athletes the opportunity to master the fundamentals and play competitive tackle football. The Intraleague program plays other ACYA teams at Murphey Candler park. Following are further details on each program.
Atlanta Colt Travel Football - Early registration discount of $50 available until May 1.
Competitive tackle football for 8- to 11-year-olds. Formation of teams is contingent upon total number of tackle football registrations.
• Players who wish to be considered for our Colt D1 Travel program should choose this program at registration and grade level that matches your child. All players who select this program will be contacted by the ACYA Colt Travel Director with instructions and information for tryouts.
• Teams are selected out of players interested in playing travel football, and by the coaches assessment of how competitive the team may be in the NWGYFL.
• The ACYA Board of Directors reserves the right to require that certain players move between leagues for safety purposes. Such players will be given the option of a full refund if they then choose not to participate.
• 4th-7th grade travel teams practice three days per week for two hours each day, and have games on Saturdays. (4-session-per-week commitment)
• Games are played on Saturday at Murphey Candler or other Metro Atlanta parks, mainly around East and Northeast Georgia area.
• ACYA supplies game jerseys, game pants without pads, shoulder pads and a helmet.
• Team dues average $100-$150 per player.
• Contact the Atlanta Colts Travel Director - Kristian Rosser at Kristian@atlantacolts.com for additional information.
• All players considering travel football MUST attend travel tryouts May 17-19.

YOUTH FOOTBALL & CHEER
Intraleague Tackle Football - Early registration discount of $50 available until May 1
Intraleague tackle football is for players from 1st to 7th grades interested in playing tackle football with other teams within Atlanta Colts/Murphey Candler Park. Teams are selected by coach draft of registered players interested in playing intraleague football. Evaluations are MANDATORY to be eligible for the draft. If unable to attend, please notify the league director ASAP to discuss options. The ACYA Board of Directors reserves the right to require that certain players move between leagues or divisions for safety purposes. Such players will be given the option of a full refund if they then choose not to participate.
• 4th-7th grade teams have a 3-event per week commitment.
• 1st-3rd grade teams have a 2-event per week commitment.
• Games are played on weeknights at Murphey Candler park.
• ACYA supplies game jerseys, shoulder pads and a helmet.
• Team dues average $50-$60 per player.
• Contact Atlanta Colts Intraleague Director Andrew Lorimer at alorimer@atlantacolts.com for additional information.
• All players interested in coming out for intraleague teams MUST attend evaluations: 8/2-8/4 helmet only, 8/7-8/9 full pads
All teams and squads will require additional team dues at the discretion of the coaches and team parent. Unfortunately, in order to ensure balanced and competitive teams, we cannot always accommodate requests to have players placed on the same team as friends/neighbors/relatives for Tackle Football. While our goal is to have individual grade-level divisions, we reserve the right to merge grade divisions due to insufficient enrollment.
More information on our programs is available at www.atlantacolts.com. All players interested in trying out for Colt Travel Teams MUST attend tryouts. Dates: May 15-17.
