Context Plan: False Creek

Detailed Plan: Intersecting Paths

Never-land Island is a redesign of George Wainborn Park that takes into consideration the sea-level rise projected for 2100. Many areas will be greatly affected by this sea-level rise, one of those being George Wainborn Park; this park loses lots of land and programs to the sea.
This project focuses on the goal of experiencing nature, rather than fearing it. Hence, the addition of a floating island came into existence. This island moves up and down with the tide and allows park-goers to be envoloped by the sea while preserving and enhancing the current programs in the space.
Visitors can choose to descend to the island by stairs or lift and stand just below sea level to be surrounded by False Creek.
In addition to the island, three circular pods are added, protruding further into the water. Each pod creates moments with an element of nature, whether it be by bringing visitors down into the water, inviting the wind through swings, or adding more greenery.
