Lead Regulatory Services Representative, Underwriters Laboratories of Canada
Andrew has been involved in the electrical industry for 35 years, excelling in progressively changing roles. Starting his career as a construction electrician (1991 to 2007), he switched gears when he joined Nova Scotia Power Inc. as an electrical wiring inspector, later becoming chief electrical inspector.
He held this position until November 2017, when he joined Underwriters Laboratories of Canada in his current role, where he is responsible for representing ULC on committees, boards, and focus groups across Canada and the U.S.
Andrew is a voting member of the Technical Committee for the Canadian Electrical Code-Part I “Safety standard for electrical installations”. He chairs Sections 10 and 78 of the CE Code, and is a voting member of Sections 12, 32, 42, 64, and 84. He also served as chair of the Energy Storage System Working Group (Section 64).
He is very passionate about the electrical industry, and the safety of people and buildings.

DAVE HUGHES
Technical Advisor, Canadian Institute of Plumbing & Heating
Dave has over 40 years of experience in the plumbing and heating industry, and has worked with gas, boiler systems, solar thermal water heating systems, radiant floor heating systems, hydronic system controls, and residential and commercial hydronic system design.
He has served as chair of the Canadian Hydronics Council (CHC), and vice-chair of the CSA B214 Technical Committee for the installation of hydronic heating systems.
An active member of the hydronics industry, Dave spearheaded the creation and implementation of the CHC-certified Hydronic Designer and Hydronic Installer programs.

Don has been involved in the study of energy usage and efficiency in buildings for over 40 years. He is a professor in the Biosystems Engineering Department, formerly director of Graduate Studies in the BAE Department, and director of the Kentucky Industrial Assessment Center at the University of Kentucky. He is also a licensed professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Don has conducted and managed extensive research on energy usage in buildings and industrial facilities, solar energy, air infiltration and ventilation, building codes, and the analysis of climatological data for determination of design weather conditions.
His team developed the first dehumidification design weather data that was published in the 1997 ASHRAE Handbook-Fundamentals.

Hydronics Product Director, Master Group
A graduate of École Polytechnique in Montreal, Emilie started her career working for two engineering consultant firms: Stantec and Martin Roy & Assoc.
In 2015, she joined Master Group (Le Groupe Master) and, since 2017, has held the position of product director for hydronic products.
Emilie is actively involved in the ASPE Chapter in Montreal, and has assisted several manufacturers in their research and development efforts for products being introduced to the Canadian market.

President and General Manager, Viessmann Manufacturing Co. Inc.
Jerry joined Viessmann in February 2018 and held the role of director, Sales & Marketing, before assuming his current position in January 2022. Prior to joining Viessmann, Jerry worked with Uponor Ltd., focusing on commercial radiant heating and cooling applications across Canada.
He obtained his Bachelor’s in Engineering and Masters of Applied Science from the Technical University of Nova Scotia in 1992 and 1995, respectively, and is a professional engineer in the Province of Ontario.
Jerry is a member of ASHRAE, and the Canadian Hydronics Council (where he is in the final year of a two-year term as chair). He is also involved with the Canadian Institute of Plumbing & Heating, where he is a member of the Ontario Chapter’s board of directors, a former volunteer with the CIPH Charity Committee, and currently volunteers with the CIPH ABC Planning Committee.

MICHAEL RIDLER General Manager, Eden Energy Equipment
Michael started his HVAC career over 20 years ago in a familyrun business that is still in operation. Prior to his current role as general manager, he served as technical services manager, where he was responsible for mentoring and advising Eden’s technical support team.
Michael currently chairs the Training & Certifications group of the Canadian Institute of Plumbing & Heating where, he feels, his foremost objective is to give back to the HVAC and hydronic community which, he says, has played a pivotal role in his personal and professional advancement. He also serves on Codes & Standards Committee of the Canadian Hydronics Council.

MIKE MILLER Vice-president, Sales, Taco Comfort Solutions
An industry veteran with 30 years of experience—and regular contributor to HPAC Magazine—Mike was born and raised near Stuttgart, Germany, where he undertook a four-year apprenticeship in the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning trade before attaining journeyman status.
After immigrating to Canada, he spent a few more years on the tools before entering the plumbing and heating wholesale business. Mike then joined the manufacturing sector, where he has held positions ranging from application engineer to international sales manager, before settling into his current role.
He is involved in several industry associations, including: Canadian Hydronics Council; Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI); and Mechanical Contractors Association of Canada.
Mike is renowned for his dedication to the hydronics industry.
