How does Hygiena SystemSURE ATP monitoring work?

ATP is the energy molecule found within organic cells. The Hygiena SystemSURE swab collects ATP from organic matter left on a surface. The swab is activated to allow the enzyme luciferase to mix with the ATP collected and generate a light signal. Invisible to the eye, this light signal is measured in the instrument and translated into a meaningful numerical value. This value relates to the cleanliness of the surface. The higher the value is then the dirtier the surface is. If the reading is low then the surface is clean. Results are available in 15 seconds allowing the user to make an immediate decision on the hygienic status of the swabbed area.
