I am super excited about this special edition of The Cover magazine. It features the first child model to grace the cover, Yasmin Larson aka Yazzledazzle, a child fashionista.

This issue also highlights and promotes the fashion, food, arts and entertainment industry. When it comes to creating opportunities and achieving success; there is no industry like the arts, fashion, food and entertainment industry.

The first store will open in the Fall of 2021, and will be located between Terminal C and D in the Southwest Airlines hub. Adrian Brown, Male Entrepreneur and Custom Designer

Growing up Adrian Brown always had an eye for fashion. With a mother and grandmother that were both seamstresses, he was naturally drawn into the creative world of fashion.

The Cover: Tells us about how you developed your passion for sewing and how you got started making bow ties.

Adrian: I remember the long hours wandering around fabric stores with my brothers while my mother looked at pattern after pattern. After learning the basics, I began hemming pants, sewing on buttons, and more. As I grew older, that eye for fashion developed into a love of suits and bow ties. As a result, my skill transitioned into making bow ties.

The Cover: During the pandemic how did you use your skills to be more creative with your designs and accessories?

Adrian: Living in a worldwide pandemic, I've used my skills to create comfortable, breathable, and stylish masks available in adult and children's sizes. Wearing a mask to protect yourself and others should not be boring though.

While staying safe, I also wanted to be stylish so, I created several bow tie and mask combination sets with fun themes and custom designs for any occasion.

The Cover: Do you design and create bow ties for weddings?

Adrian: The very first bow tie I made was for my wedding, because we simply could not find the perfect bow tie to match the bridal theme. Later I chose to make other bow ties for myself. So again, I would spend hours in the fabric stores, this time looking for the perfect fabric to create a bow tie for any occasion.

The Cover: What’s next for Adrian Brown?

Adrian: Since reaching my goal of early retirement I now have more time to give to the event that welded my eye for fashion with the desire to provide the perfect wedding attire: Custom Wedding Bow Ties. Hence, I have adopted the tagline: Beautiful Weddings Deserve Custom Bow Ties. Yes, my life is truly a story About Bow Ties.

Eryn Rogers One of Memphis' Best Journalist

Eryn Rogers is a two-time Emmy award-winning journalist who co-anchors Good Day Memphis every weekday from 5-7 am and Local 24 News Midday at 11 am.

Before coming to Local 24 News, the Atlanta native was the morning and noon anchor at WMAZ-TV in Macon, GA for nearly three years. While at the station, she shed light on the history and struggles of Black Georgia farmers and continued Crucial Conversations during the racial reckoning in our country.

Eryn has also worked at WSPA-TV in Greenville, South Carolina. There she broke a national story about serial killer Todd Kohlhepp, and extensively covered the confederate flag debate at the South Carolina State House following the Charleston massacre. Her career also included stops in Indiana and Kansas. She graduated from the Accelerated Master's Program at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University where she completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in simultaneous fashion during the four-year program.

Eryn's Emmy In the fall of 2012, Eryn won a Midwest Emmy for a documentary she filmed, produced, and edited about gang life among Chicago’s youth.

Keeping Busy In her spare time, Eryn is active with her organizations, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the National Association of Black Journalists. She can always be found getting a quick workout in at the gym. It compliments her love of trying new restaurants.

Eryn is no stranger to the Mid-South. Her husband, DeAndre, grew up in Memphis and graduated from the University of Memphis. They’re excited to make this home together with their dog, Jackson.

Yasmin Larson aka Yazzydazzle Many people have dreams; but for 9-year-old Yasmin Larson aka Yazzydazzle her dream has become a reality.

Yasmin has a passion for acting and modeling, she was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She has been modeling and acting since August of 2020.

Yasmin has modeled for many different designers and has been cast in both commercials and movies. She has graced the cover of Young Model Magazine; and has been featured in several issues. She has appeared in more than 20 magazines.

Hobbies Her hobbies include helping people, hanging out with her friends and jumping on the trampoline. She's also a gymnastic student who love swimming and biking.

Traveling Yasmin has traveled to various places across the country such as; New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta and Wisconsin for modeling, commercials, runway shows and photo shoots.

International Commercial Yasmin’s first commercial was an international commercial for HHM Global Solutions in India, contracted

by MJI Talent Agency. Myeka Johnson, CEO of MJI, has been a big contributor to Yasmin's successful career.

Living Her Dreams “Fashionista with a swag” The Cover: Yasmin's future looks bright in spite of the pandemic.

In June of 2021, Yasmin was introduced to the United Together Fashion Show by XLNT Models, and has been modeling virtually every month for the United Together Fashion Show. The owner and

producer of this amazing show is Farhan Chowdhury. The show airs every month at www.unitedtogetherfashionshow.com.

In September of 2021, Yasmin completed a photoshoot for Footlocker, sporting Nike and Adidas fashion in Wausau, Wisconsin. She also traveled to Manhattan, New York to complete two (2) runway shows for Paris Chic Magazine and met owner and designer, Yoshua De Jesus. After modeling for the Paris Chic runway show, Yasmin walked for major fashion designer, Marc Defang at the Hotel Edison Ballroom wearing a hot pink sparkling jumpsuit.

Frederick Sanders was an artist long before he ventured into the world of beauty.

Frederick grew up creatively inspired by the people and places he encountered. Frederick mastered many art forms, stemming from his Bachelor’s in Fine Arts degree to his fluency in French, German and Spanish. He was working as a teacher and prepping for law school when his path took an unexpected turn.

Piquing his curiosity

Frederick walked into a MAC Cosmetics store and was hired on the spot. He found his medium, and Frederick has been professionally making up clients ever since, with a client list that includes Erika Alexander, MC Lyte, Chante Moore, Phylicia Rashad, Pastor Shirley Caesar and India Arie.

Makeva has held 8 titles since 2011 and has competed both nationally and internationally, winning her first international title, Royal International Miss Role Model Ms 2019. Southern Style Chef Melissa Cookston Born and raised in the Mississippi Delta, Melissa Cookston is a trailblazing female food entrepreneur smoking the competition.

Cookston is a 7-time world barbecue champion; BBQ Hall of Fame inductee; owner of Memphis BBQ Company, a successful barbecue restaurant with locations in Horn Lake, Mississippi and Dunwoody, Georgia; an author of two cookbooks, “Smokin in the Boy’s Room” and “Smokin’ Hot in the South;” and a celebrated southern Delta chef.

James "Monk"Johnson James “Monk” Johnson is a 38-year veteran of the wholesale baking industry, a former player of the National Football League (NFL) and an active philanthropist. He graduated from William Henry Spencer High School, Columbus, GA in 1970, with MVP honors in football and earned a football scholarship to Tennessee State University (TSU), Nashville, TN earning a BS in Physical Education and received “All American” honors as a defensive back. He was drafted to the National Football League (NFL) by the San Francisco 49ers where he also played defensive back.

He was coach advisor to several high schools and former chairman of the Joe Gilliam Foundation, Nashville, TN. "Monk" volunteered with Stop the Violence in Memphis, TN. He was also founder of Strengthening High School Achievements in Academics and Athletics (SHSAAA) dedicated to providing scholarships to Columbus student athletes.

Philanthropic and Humanitarian Efforts His greatest achievements are not from baking and football but from his philanthropic and humanitarian efforts; giving his time, monies and talents. Philanthropy spanning five decades since leaving Columbus in 1970. His efforts included youth basketball coach, recipient of the Tiger Award from the Nashville Tennessean Newspaper for being a TSU football scholarship pipeline facilitating over 25 football scholarships from the Columbus area and several went on to play in the NFL. Upon returning home in 2012, he has focused on “giving back.” He has volunteered for several organizations, including The Columbus Times Newspaper. He also served and chaired numerous committees from raising needed funds, to assisting local families with basic needs as well as an active role model and mentor for young men; most recently to Aaron Cohn Regional Youth Detention Center. He is president of the Spencer Football Boosters supporting student athletes of his beloved Alma Mater.

Achievements

He is the recipient of numerous awards; in 2012 he was recognized by Spencer High School during their Founder’s Day celebration, in 2015 he received the U.S. Marines Hall of Fame Rivalry Series Award, in 2018 he received the Nathaniel Carter Legacy Award from the Restoration Committee of the William Henry Spencer House. In 2019 he was honored by Tennessee State University in their “Salute to Greatness” for Excellence on the Gridiron.” In 2020 he was recipient of two awards; his induction into the 2nd class of the Mother Mary Mission Legends Hall of Fame and the Courier Eco Latino Newspaper Dr. Robert L. Wright Philanthropy Award. He is a life time member of the Spencer High School Alumni Association, the NFL Players Association, the NFL Alumni Association, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), a member of Greater Beallwood. In May of this year, he was honored by his high school, William Henry Spencer High School, Columbus, GA, they named their sports complex, the James “Monk” Johnson Greenwave Sports Complex.

James "Monk" Johnson is married to the former Gwendolyn Porter of 31 years, they have two daughters, Travia Powell and Kimberly (Tyree), five grandchildren; Raven, Juwan, Kaliyah, Kyree and Kimyah.

That Model From Memphis Kristian "Masterpeace" Wright

Kristian is a 16-year-old teen model, actor, dancer, philanthropist and an Independent Recording Artist.

Kristian's modeling career began at 9 years old with Stanley E. Smith of E’role’ Expose’ Showcase models. He has ripped runways in Orlando, Florida, Houston Texas, Arkansas and Memphis, TN. He is an award-winning model, winning 1st Place in the Mike Williams’ “Memphis Kid Got Talent” competition. Kristian is also a Lifetime Achievement Honoree with the Memphis Juneteenth. He has shared the runways with celebrities such as Moziah Bridges of “Mo’s Bows” and Celebrity Chef Gina Neely. Kristian has modeled in fashion shows for Delta Sigma Theta and Alpha kappa Alpha Inc. He is a “Best In Black” nominee for Best Kid Model, Best Young Model and Best Male Model in the SCM Awards.

Kristian loves the theater and have starred in a plethora of stage drama and musical productions. He is most known for his performance as Young Simba in, “The Lion King Jr.” with Desoto Family Theater and Young Actors Guild, and his role as Simba with Stage Door Productions. Kristian gained popularity with his performances with Hattiloo Theatre where he played Nat in the musical, “Take The Soul Train to Christmas” along with Harry Lennix of, “The Five Heartbeats.” His role was Travis Younger in “Raisin” and Young Jelly in “Jelly’s Last Jam.”

This multi-talented kid is an award-winning actor, winning “Best Young Male Actor” with diversity on stage and film. Kristian is also a 2018 nominee for The Allie Awards for Best Young Male Actor, and his role as Young Simba with Desoto Family Theater.

Kristian is the Co-Founder and the inspiration behind The ANDY Project. ANDY (Assisting the Needs of Disadvantaged Youths), a 501c3 nonprofit that helps economically challenged kids in the community.

Kristian is the CEO of Masterpeace 901 Entertainment Inc., where he teaches kids and adults modeling techniques. Kristian, a former Star Music Academy student, is now an independent recording Artist. His new single, CONTAGIOUS” dropped in February 2020, on all social media platforms.
