Rik Uytterhoeven, Leuvens cartofiel en heemkundige, stelde een schitterend album samen: ruim 350 illustraties op fraai papier, dat met een passend commentaar heel wat boeiende aspecten belicht van onze bijna zes eeuwen oude Alma Mater.

Het verhaal van een monument met een prestigieuze geschiedenis.

Achter de knalrode muur op de hoek van de Celestijnenlaan in Heverlee gaat een gebouw schuil dat niet meteen zijn geschiedenis prijsgeeft. Die geschiedenis is nochtans prestigieus en lijkt uitsluitend met hoofdletters geschreven: een klooster van de Celestijnen, uniek in de Nederlanden en thans geïntegreerd in de nieuwe Campusbibliotheek Arenberg op de campus wetenschappen van de K.U.Leuven.

The story of a monument with a prestigious history.

On the corner of the Croylaan and the Celestijnenlaan stands a red wall. An introverted building which does not immediately reveal its past hidden behind the wall. Nevertheless, it has an extremely prestigious history. It is as though it was written entirely in capital letters and golden initials: a monastery of the order of the Celestines, unique in the Netherlands. The ruins of the monastery were recently restored by the internationally celebrated Rafael Moneo and integrated in the Campus Library Arenberg.

De Stichtingsbul van de Leuvense universiteit, 1425-1914 Marc Nelissen, Jan Roegiers, Erik Van Mingroot Luxueuze hardcover met fascilime van de stichtingsbul bijgesloten!

Op 9 december 1425 stichtte paus Martinus V de universiteit van Leuven.

De scholaster van het Sint-Pieterskapittel, Willem Neve, bepleitte in Rome de zaak met succes. Toen de stichtingsbul eind april 1426 in Leuven aankwam, werd alles in gereedheid gebracht voor het begin van het eerste academiejaar in oktober 1426. Voor dit onderzoek werden alle reeds bekende gegevens over de stichting op een rij gezet en gecombineerd met nieuw archiefmateriaal uit het Archivio Segreto Vaticano.
