Nestled seamlessly within the enchanting embrace of a dense woodland, Anatomy House harmoniously blends the timeless elegance of mid-century modern design with the serene beauty of nature. The long hallway that connects each program within the home was inspired by the spine, a body part that is not only vital, but allows the brain to communicate through nerves with the other parts of the body; much like a home and its programs. The exposed ceiling beams seen throughout resembled a rib cage. It employs clean lines and expansive windows invite the lush greenery indoors, creating a symbiotic relationship between the structure and its surroundings. A minimalist color palette and organic materials evoke the spirit of mid-century aesthetics, while thoughtful integration of sustainable technologies ensures a contemporary, eco-friendly living experience.

MODULAR+ is a multigenerational housing community, consisting of 4 modular homes that can be customized per the client’s wants and needs. Each modular home is a 1,140ft² prefabricated space that can be transported to the site and placed on a foundation suitable for a mobile home. Each modular home is built using prefabricated structural pieces that slide over and hug the structural wood joist floor. These modular spaces use high end finishes that can ideally be customized through a catalogue of selected material templates. Four homes can exist on approximately half an acre, however the client may customize the lot size based on their needs. Other programs can be seen such as a communal fire pit for social gatherings and quality family time. Outdoor seating as well as a playground are implemented within the outdoor space to cater to different ages and lifestyles.
CONCEPTUAL SKETCHES REQUIRED FURTHER RESEARCH. INFORMATION ON SINGLE WIDE SIZES AND TRANSPORT RESTRICTIONS WAS DISCOVERED. THE DESIGN WAS ADJUSTED ACCORDINGLY.
SINGLE WIDE DESIGN IS FURTHER ENHANCED AND MADE
Lakeside House, a collaboration between CDP Architecture and our esteemed client, embodies the convergence of innovative design solutions with a deep respect for site boundaries. Situated on the picturesque shores of Tims Ford lake, the schematic lake house design was crafted to seamlessly blend with the natural landscape while addressing specific constraints imposed by the site. The primary challenge was to incorporate a garage within the project, adhering to site boundaries and local regulations. The Lakeside House design features a contemporary 2 397 ft² open floor plan including 3 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, and maximizes panoramic views of the lake. The integration of floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding glass doors blurs the distinction between indoor and outdoor spaces, fostering a connection with nature. The choice of materials, including locally sourced timber and brick, painted black to add a visual juxtaposition and authenticity to the architecture, further rooting the structure within its natural surroundings.

The Palisades, located at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago, takes inspiration from the city’s distinctive shotgun-style houses and the rhythmic protrusions and retreats found in local neighborhoods. This influence is evident in the dynamic facade, which creates a layered, natural visual identity that integrates seamlessly into the urban environment. A central atrium forms the heart of the building, rising through its full height to flood the space with natural light and offering bridges that connect different wings. The ground floor features a student gallery, intentionally designed to guide users into the atrium and foster interaction across disciplines, enhancing the building’s social and collaborative atmosphere.
Designed with residents in mind, The Palisades offers four distinct suite types—divided doubles, quads, ADA-compliant rooms, and RA suites—ensuring inclusivity and accommodating diverse needs. Each floor includes communal amenities such as kitchens, laundry rooms, and trash areas, encouraging social interaction and fostering a sense of community. At one end of the building, a full-height study space overlooks a Zen garden, providing a tranquil retreat from the urban bustle and nearby train activity. Together, these elements balance connectivity, functionality, and serenity, offering students a harmonious living and learning environment.
THE DESIGN OF THE PALLISADES STRATEGICALLY MAXIMIZES THE FLOOR AREA RATIO (FAR) WHILE BUILDING ON ONLY 40% OF THE LOT TO MAINTAIN AN EFFICIENT AND OPEN SITE LAYOUT. THE STRUCTURE COMPLIES WITH ALL CODE REGULATIONS AND EXTENDS WITHIN TWO FEET OF THE PROPERTY EASEMENT, OPTIMIZING THE BUILDING FOOTPRINT WITHIN THE CONSTRAINTS OF THE URBAN CONTEXT.
