The following collection and brand was inspired by my own skydiving adventure. I learned a lot from my skydiving instructors Adam and Aaron. Following my jump, Aaron asked if I would be interested in making him a jumpsuit. I was, to say the least. Being that I am definately a “newbie” when it comes the skydiving world I know very little about skydiving attire.

So, I began my research on skydiving jumpsuits.

Which, isn’t to say I hadn’t already looked them up before I made my first jump. A girl has to be dressed properly for all occasions!

This the first entry in my Log Book!

First, I will tell you a little about skydivers. They are good people who have safety in mind.

Willing to help, eager to jump and make new friends who are also passionate about SKYDIVING! This sport requires an adventureous spirited person who possess, skill determination and the desire to jump from a plane!

I learned that skydivers fall differently based on their weight and height. Skydivers also want to control their rate of fall. Some want to fall faster some want to fall

slower. These are a few things I considered while designing this collection. Jumpers who jump in teams and groups teams desire specific qualities in their jumpsuits.

I believe experiencing this would benefit my future designs of suits that are made for those who jump in groups.

My research into current jumpsuit designs included fabric. I discovered that many designers use a Cordura®, Supplex® nylon and Spandex in their jumpsuits.

My understanding is that they use spandex to help a ‘jumper’ obtain a faster fall rate and because of its elastic properties. Supplex® is used because of its high water and wind resistant properties. Supplex® also has high abrasion and tear resistant qualities. Cordura® was designed to be long-lasting and have resistance to abrasions and tears. Spandex is often used on

the arms and parts of the main garment. Cordura® is used on the knees and legs of the garment, this is because landing causes greater wear and tear here. Having a durable jumpsuit is a very desirable quality for jumpers.

I was told jumpers come from all walks of life, some are powerful executives and yet others are struggling college students. I believe, that any jumper investing in a jumpsuit wants quality.

I would like to provide timeless durable and stylish jumpsuits to jumpers. So I decided to create my own brand, Altico and provide jumpsuits to local skydivers.

This is the hangtag I designed for my jumpsuits.
