001 VALEDICTORIAN jaden hoard Jaden is the daughter of Natasha Savage and Brian Savage. She played Varsity Tennis for four years and ran cross country for two. She has also been a member of Future Business Leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, Beta Club, School Culture Team, Yearbook, Just Love on People, Spanish Club, and World Cultures Club. She has dual enrolled through the University of North Georgia since her junior year. Josy Hill is the daughter of Jeff and Tammy Hill. She is planning on continuing her undergraduate education at Piedmont College, where she has been a dual enrollment student for the past year. Josy will be majoring in chemistry and will be on a pre-pharmacy path. She wishes to eventually attend pharmacy school and become a pharmacist. In the future, Josy hopes to work in a community or clinical pharmacy setting. "Josy Hill possesses the qualities necessary to be successful. The 2021 DAR Student Award is presented to Jonah Yang. Jonah has been an active member of the yearbook staff, and has won the Young Georgia Authors Award for his grade for three consecutive years. Jonah plans to attend Lanier Tech to learn deeper into the hardships of technology. After college, he plans to become a videographer and travel the world to inform people of the different cultures an d traditions of other countries. "Jonah is one of the least sel�sh teenagers I know. Recently, as I recall fondly, he woke up early and cooked breakfast to bring to two of his classmates – not because he owed them anything; it was simply an act of kindness, with nothing expected in return. In another instance, he went to a student’s home and worked after school on a student’s personal computer, free of charge. Often, he �nishes assignments ahead of other students and will ask to help other teachers with projects they may be working on. He simply enjoys giving freely of his time to others. There is no denying that Jonah Yang is a stellar example of the qualities the DAR Good Citizen Award seeks to highlight in our students." -Mrs. Pass

MATTHEW SEÑORA ZOHORANACKY MAXWELL With a composite SAT score of 1330, Mr. Matthew Zohoranacky has been awarded the Star Student Award. Matthew has been a member of Beta Club, Interact Club, FBLA, Spanish Club, and a dedicated member of the marching band. After graduating, He plan to attend the University of Georgia and major in Computer Science. He hopes with this degree that he will be able to give back to my community. "I was fortunate enough to have several great teachers during my time in high school. This made my choice of teachers hard. Ultimately, I chose Mrs. Maxwell because she made the daunting task of attempting to learn a new language fun. Not only did she teach us the language, but also about the culture of Spanish speaking countries, incorporating foods, recipes, and traditions to keep our attention. Anytime I had a stressful day at school, I could count on one thing: Mrs. Maxwell's smile and friendly greeting when I turned the corner into her classroom. A simple gesture goes a long way, and I'll forever remember her kindness. Gracias Señora Maxwell!"
One of my �rst memories of Matt Zohoranacky is him telling me his 'Spanish name' of "Zanahorias." Zanahorias means carrots in Spanish, and he said it was easier to say than his last name. LOL! Matt is such an intelligent young man, he is a walking super-computer! All he needed was to be introduced to the words and grammar concepts once and he was able to put the Spanish language together.

"For my entry, I wanted to write about a perspective that maybe some people might not think about, that being the trauma that a soldier experiences during a war. I took inspiration from anything ranging from movies, video games, and lessons that I've been taught about warfare. The biggest factor that contributed to my entry was the lessons on trench warfare that I learned from Mr. Goodson. He made the terminology of shell-shocked as well as the gruesome pictures of trench foot stuck in my head, but overall I believe that perspective can change peoples' thoughts on many different things in life." -jonah yang

We have two girls, Alli and Ralee, that have made large strides this season. With Covid affecting their practice time, both girls have improved on their average scores. The boy's team has excelled this year. With a record of 7-1, they have been one of the top programs in our region. Both teams bene t from having strong leadership from our seniors. The 2021 boys tennis season will be remembered as one of the most successful seasons the team has had. The team's regular season record was 10-2-2 with big wins over North Hall, Rabun, and Elbert. The boys claimed the region championship title after defeating Rabun 3-0 in the region tournament. Ronnie Jones, Pierce Martin, Chase Hatcher, and Sean Presley were awarded 1st Team All-Region. Martin Suggs, Luke Edwards, and Conner McCall were awarded 2nd Team All-Region. The depth of the boys team was valued throughout the season as younger players were able to step into varsity positions when needed as well as played competitive matches at practice. Lane Seahorn

After the 2020 tennis season ended with a 7-0 record, the girls had high expectations coming into the 2021 season. After returning from winter break, practices started to prepare for the season which began in early February at Johnson High School where the girls won 4-1. The team ended their regular season with a 14-0 record. 10 of the matches were won 5-0. After a dominating performance all season, the team entered the region tournament. With wins from Chloe Smith, Addison Hoard, and the doubles team of Aspen Davis and Amber Morris, the girls claimed their region championship title. Chloe Smith was named player of the year for Region 8AA. She was also awarded 1st Team All-Region along with Jaden Hoard, Aspen Davis, and Amber Morris. Addison Hoard, Channing Boswell, and Abbey Bonds were named 2nd Team All-Region. Apart from practices and matches, the season was lled with memories from going out to eat as a team after matches, making tik toks, and hanging out at the Butler’s house.

Payton Jackson, Matt Sanders, Madison Dacus, and Carlie Cochran made history by being named the 2-time state Environmental Natural Resources Champions. They will travel to Indianapolis, Indiana this October to compete at nationals. Individually Matt Sanders was the State high individual, Payton being 2nd high individual, Madison was 3rd high individual, and Carlie being 8th high individual in the state.

Adopt-A-Family Fundraiser is where Banks County raised money for families that are in need in the community. We were able to sponsor one kid this year and give them a Christmas.

The 2020-2021 HOSA O cers partnered with the Banks County Fire Department and brought back the BCHS disaster drill. This drill is a fake simulated car accident to bring awareness to drunk driving. This year's participants were all seniors that are associated with Corey & Ronnie the BCHS healthcare classes and HOSA. HOSA also sponsor's the Miss Leopard Legacy Pageant. This year Banks County HOSA raised money for their upcoming year and had 42 girls compete in this year's pageant. BCHS HOSA hosted two blood drives, as well as the homecoming king fundraiser where they raised $1500 for the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation. To �nish the year off strong BCHS HOSA President Katelyn Suggs and the BCHS o�cer team attended State Leadership Conference in Atlanta. There Katelyn Suggs was elected to the position of the Georgia HOSA state Vice President of O�cer Relations.

047 LETTER from the editors
2021 has been a hectic year regarding the pandemic. We have dealt with hardships trying to piece together the yearbook, such as changing themes and switching softwares, but we managed to pull through. For this year’s theme, we tried to create a simple and elegant aesthetic that contrasts to complications and chaos that is COVID-19. Another reason why we chose this theme is because we wanted to make this yearbook seem as if it was a letter from the seniors, thus being “Yours truly.” Whether they were good or bad, these are the memories that we have all made during this school year. We want to acknowledge how hard Mrs. Jackson has worked to put this book together. This year was truly a challenge for her, but she persevered through all of the stress and anxiety that came along in this journey. We love you and you will always have a special place in our hearts.
