Our Response

Despiteworkinginaspaceadjacenttobusy areasofthemainbuilding,theteaminstalled thenewEndoscopySuitewithminimum disruptiontothedaytodayrunningofthe hospital.Thesafetyofpatientsandstaffwas attheforefrontofallon-siteconstruction.

Our Response
Thebespokebriefcalledforanunusual configuration,withintegratedsupportsforthe timbercanopywhichappearsto‘float’above thestructure.Additionally,thefull-height glazingthatwrapstwosidesofthegatehouse allowsplentyofnaturallightintothe administrativespaceinside.
Thesixmetresquarebuildingwasconstructed intwosectionsbeforebeingtransportedtosite tobefinishedandinstalled.Thenewbuilding isproofthatmodularbuildingscanbe anythingbutstandard,actingasawarmand modernwelcomeforvisitorstothecampus.
Case Study 7 - Covid-19 Isolation Ward Surrey

The Brief
Thehospitalapproachedwithachallenge:builda20bedisolationwardinjustfourmonthsaspartofthe hospital’sCOVID-19response.Speedwaskey,so24 hoursafterthefirstphonecall,wewereonsitewiththe estatesteamtodeterminetheparametersoftheproject.
Our Response
We collaborated with the hospital throughout, amending the design to suit the needs of the healthcare team, and adapting our manufacturing and fit-out process to ensure a very fast turnaround.
As groundworks commenced on-site, 24 modules that would comprise the ward started rolling through our factory off-site. Once complete to this stage, we transported the modules to site and craned them into position, ready for the internal works to be finished, including mechanical and electrical fit-out and plumbing.
The modular isolation ward was open and operational within 14 weeks. The speed and efficiency of the project was praised in parliment by the Secretary of State for Health & Social Care.

Our Response
Our team worked closely with the client representative throughout the programme - our role included obtaining planning approval, building control approval, dismantling of existing bicycle sheds, laying of foundations, connections with all mains services, the creation of parking suspensions for access, ramps, and provision of toilet facilities.
Handover of the double classroom block took place just ten weeks after the contract was awarded, with site works taking a little over a week due to the fact the building modules were 90% complete when leaving the manufacturing facility.
