Fort Greene Park Solid Waste Analysis
Graduate project May - July 2017 NYC Department of Parks and Recreation Bronx River Alliance
Project Context: Parks are unique entities; they do not generate waste (except yard waste), but are responsible for the waste generated by their patrons. In this report we study and analyze a non-traditional source of waste and suggest systems that are capable of reducing waste. Task: Collecting waste stream samples, Analysis of the type of waste Create a list of recommendations . Skills: Analysis - Microsoft Excel Info graphics - Hand Drawings, Microsoft word, and Photoshop

Air Quality in Parks, South Williamsbur
Fellowship project Jan - December 2017 El Puente and NYC Environmental Justice Alliance
Project Context: The report provides an analysis and evaluation of air quality in parks in Southside Williamsburg. The study area includes La Guardia Park, Jaime Champiz Park, Rodney Park and Marcy Green Park. The method of investigation included air monitoring, truck counts and park user survey. The information was collected by youth data collectors and mother volunteers. The study revealed some striking trends and facts. In terms of air quality, all parks indicated readings above standard EPA recommendations of PM 2.5. Task: Guiding community members for collecting air quality data, Conducting surveys, Analyzing data and putting together a report. Skills: Research, Community outreach, presentations, Analyzing data in Microsoft excel, creating info-graphics using Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.

SIMIC
Staten Island Maritime Industry Coalition Resiliency Studio, Pratt Institute
Project Context: The SMIA of Staten Island have most of the industries that look outwards towards the water and have no interaction with the community in which they are located. Industries have tall fences that create a barrie. The entire Staten Island SMIA is in the 100-year flood zone. All industries located in SMIA are vulnerable to flooding and sea level rise due to climate change. These industries are extremely important for smooth functioning of the New York City. Yet, they not only lack sustainability agenda but also do not have any formal protocol in case of emergency. The first step towards achieving resiliency is creating consenses amongst multiple stake holders. the project proposes an entity called SIMIC that will spearhead the coalition of industrires working in SMIA zones. Skills: Research regarding resiliency projects, Compiling a report

Competition project December 2017 ULI Hines
Project Context: This Proposal was a competition entry for ULI Hines Competition, 2016.The challege was to revive the Clybourn waterfront in Chicago that was neglected and isolated due to industrial development. The first step to this is bringing change in the urban resolution of the site, by adding feasible uses from the surrounding neighborhood. This way the large disconnect between the site and city is beginning to blur. A sustainable community thrives with a balance in economy and ecology. This proposal is about developing a node that opens a corridor of opportunities that comprises of different typologies ranging from affordable live-work-sell spaces to research institution for river revitalization. Task: Understanding zoning change from industrial to residential, Design, Renderings and Panel design Skills: Zoning research, Auto CAD, Rhino, V ray

River Revitalization in Mumbai, India Internship project Summer 2016 Water Environs
Project Context: Mumbai is India’s most populous city. It comprises of four rivers which originate from the central forest area called the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. These rivers were highly exploited and neglected in various ways by disposing waste, reclaiming wet lands, etc. As a result of that, they are reduced down to drains. Residents and communities realized the importance of revitalization of rivers only after they experienced flash flood in the year 2006. River- march is a movement started by a group of citizens who have taken the initiative to rejuvenate rivers in the urban context of Mumbai, as first step in reviving the natural ecosystem. Inhaf provides materials, and technical expertise to the movement. Task: Geo referencing historical maps to see changes in the course of river, understanding land use, creating materials for exhibition. Skills: Site Analysis, Auto CAD, Photoshop, Rhino, Q-GIS 20
