Hi, I am Anjali Chettiar, I am passionate, highly enthusiastic and a creative person driven by the purpose of architecture and its unique abilities to translate intangibles to tangibles. I graduated recently and during my journey I had the opportunity to work, collaborate with an architectural firm and a platform to be a freelance architect of some residential projects. These experiences allowed me to become a good player at teamwork, as well as it made me good at problem-solving and working in deadline-driven environments. It has taught me to be responsible and sensitive through every process leading towards an outcome to be delivered. I have a strong interest in design development, landscape design, urban planning, interior design and detailing. I am a fast learner, always seeking the best solution for the project.

ACADEMIC PROJECTS A SOCIAL SPACE Navi Mumbai, India

City Center -Combating Social Isolation Through Design Indian Architectural History had a great importance to the public gathering spaces where people congrete, celebrate and interact. Today, the nature of these kind of social space is lost due to technology, change of life style and the way people use a public Space. Thus this project is drawn out from the Research and study of the current developments of the city, which are now alienating and monochromatic and more privatised. This set up have taken the importance of public squares and public building aback. The Project Social Space acts as an breathing space that provides various platforms for the social gathering, interaction and economy of the city. The concept of Social Space is to design an active public realm, with a major focus to the Linking spaces that leads to different typology of built forms. These Linking Space called Urban Square consists of various type of activity centered spaces that brings about life and interactive environment.

CONCEPT spaces which can be clubbed together as per their function Analysis of Noise/Quiet zones & public/private zones as per site analysis Emerging from the idea of creating Built and Unbuilt spaces:

DESIGN STRATERGIES

• The orientation of northeast-southwest has been adopted to minimize heat gain within the building. • Connecting spaces and pathways designed as a street view and style • Fragmented green terraces and open spaces. • Strategic placement of waterbody as per wind flow direction -cooling effect. • Building height at south is reduced gradually creating self shading masses

Interlinked and feeding into eachother, The first response was to develop a meandering, informal complex-space around central square/ plaza.

The project intends to appraise and accept the effect of technological growth on the urban fabric of city. Due to fast paced & privatised life style,the public spaces and social life are lost, this proposal is an approach combating this issue through design with contextual program as per selected city (kharghar). The project is to be a hub of social infrastructure of the city with aims to facilitate the upliftment of social life of the city, by providing the right environment and injecting the needed design program.

Built mass in site are dividing the site with various pockets which are developed into landscape spaces for social interaction & activities. Office block, Retail and Hotel space are connected through large central square/plaza acting as a gathering space. Whole landscape plaza is purposely planed out in centre & the roads in the periperry of the site, such that street walk experience in lanscape plaza is not disturbed.

• Hotel block has a service floor at this level, where all the pipes coming from the vertical ducts of rooms above becomes horizontal at this floor and gets transferred to the external ducts. The height of this floor is 2.7 m in Hotel block • Whereas Retail block has shops, restaurant and a Public library connecting the office building via bridge to terrace /break out areas • The exhibition stairway ends at 2nd floor.This stair way also act as a informal seating space for the Readers.

Office block is designed in a such a way that all the services and vertical circulation elements like lifts, toilets and stairway is placed at the periphery & open atrium at centre providing visual connections within each floor levels. Main ideology was to design the indoor spaces in harmony with the outdoor landscape and activity spaces. Thus, Fragmented terrace spaces - acting as break out area for the employees in large as well as small offices are planned out. The hotel block is designed in such a way that all the common spaces and recreational zones are planed in ground, first and fifth floor where as the 2nd 3rd nd 4th floor has overall 50 no.s of guest rooms Retail spaces being a public space, has shops and restaurants at the periphery of block with interactive corners connecting landscape space on all sides of the site and a common gathering atriums at the center. view from breakout spaces of Office Building

Ulwe, Navimumbai, India Urban entertainment and commercial hub This project was proposed after the study of Urban planning and Development of Ulwe node, Navi Mumbai. Analysis and conclusion of study suggested few of the combinations of spaces that are required in this developing node. Creating a combination of Urban Entertainmnet + Urban Recreation + Urban Commercial, The proposed project was to design a Entertainment and commercial hub/ Shopping Mall which houses different Retails, Recreational Spaces, Multiplex, Gaming Zones, offices and Exhibition spaces. The concept of the Project shopping mall was based on the context of the surrounding and zonning the varied typology of the spaces with respect to the end users perception of space and environment for leisure. Circulation spaces inside and outside of the builtform and within site is stratergically designed in harmony with each other

SITE PLAN The site is surrounded by high rise residential zone to the east, newly constructed bamandongri railway station to south, and areas marked under NMSEZ to the North. Thus the site is situated in the prime location of future commercial developments at Ulwe. Considering the site context, The Shopping Mall has main vehicular entrance from the North-East side and Pedestrian entrance from the edge of the node. The main entrance has 2 drop off points- one connecting to the pedestrian entrance and other connecting to the main entrance (vehicular ) of the built form. Along the South side of the site, There is a Recreational Belt with spaces like green lawns, stepped water body at the pedestrian entrance with various elevated seating areas, amphitheatres, kids play area, gardens, outdoor event plaza, and outdoor game zone and a Green recreational ramp that connects landscape areas to the top floor having Multiplex and recreational zones Shopping Mall At Ulwe - Urban Entertainment and Commercial Hub

The Overall Shopping mall is designed as a one mass, But the internal planning divides the mass into 3 spaces - office spaces, retail shop areas and recreational & entertainment areas. All 3 spaces are connected to each other by exhibition area that is wide spread from office space to retail areas with common walkway that evokes intrest and attention to spaces and activities accompanied by that space. There are Two double height artriums with interacting spaces.This atriums connects to the outdoor event plaza and landscape areas bringing inside out . All the entrances leads to the central indoor event atrium overlooked by the above floors.

ACADEMIC PROJECTS HOUSING COMPLEX

Kamothe, Navimumbai, India mass housing - residential project Kamothe being the developing Node of Navi Mumbai, the residents of kamothe had developed over the years having each kind of residents from low to mid and mid to high Class family and has a exponential growth. After the study of the developing node Kamothe in Allied Design -Town planning, concluded the need for the housing and the commercial sector of the reigion.Thus continuing this conclusion into the project or a Design Problem - Mass Housing. The project was to design a Multi family Housing project having a criteria of affordable 1 BHK to 3 BHK flats with amenities. The project features semi luxury housing units. The amenities to be provided with the housing are clubhouse, a gymnasium, a swimming pool, spa, gaming space and a multi purpose hall. Besides these amentites, the project also includes outdoor activities like basketball court, badminton courts, futsal court and a children’s play zone.

HOUSING COMPLEX

kamothe, Navi Mumbai. The main aim was to design a Multi-family Housing project with context to site, site background, climate, culture, existing type of settlement and its surroundings. The base idea was to design a space that brings about Interaction and Social life naturally within the Housing Complex. Design of Interactive spaces at various levels connecting different clusters, open spaces, recreational spaces both vertically and horizontally of the built structure contributing to social life within the community. SITE The site is located at kamothe, Navimumbai. Near flat site with a negligible slope towards south west.

DESIGN APPROACH IDEAS ON SPACE, MOVEMENT AND VOLUME Considering the present scenerio in urban life where every individual is so involved in routine that there is no social life .various buffer spaces and recreational spaces involving different activities willl give the opportunity to people to atleast initiate an communication. Green zones at each level of the structure, horizontal as well as vertical garden plays a role as a buffer spaces. ZONNING WITH CONTEXT TO PRIVACY, FUNCTION AND CIRCULATION ENTRANCE The entrance to the Housing Complex is purposely designed from the West side of the site i.e.From 9 metres wide road so that There is no disturbance on the 20 m wide road. Also Maintains Privacy.

CLUSTERS Clusters are arranged in a such a manner that there is defined circulation and seperated units according to living standards. 2 clusters of 1BHK and 2 BHK 1 cluster of 2BHK and 3 BHK.

The Housing complex was designed with context to the Neighbourhood and the plan was designed ensuring the best circulation and zonning of spaces as per Enduser and Site Analysis. The Housing complex consist of 2 podium levels connecting eachother as well as ensuring division between typology of building clusters. CLUBHOUSE The Clubhouse is centrally placed such that it connects all the clusters and amenities space in Podium Level. It connects vertically to the Podium Level 2 as well. It consist of various amenities like Exhibition Hall, Sales Office, Restaurant, Multipurpose Hall, Indoor Games Room, Gym etc.

PODIUM The podium is designed in 2 levels such that the level 1 have the Softscapes where 1 BHK and 2 BHK cluster housing starts with amenities such as Swimming Pool, Meditation Platform, Waterbody, Library etc. Podium Level 2 has landscape areas for 2 BHK & 3 BHK cluster with various amenities.

The main aim behind division of podium spaces was to provide softscape for the overview from the upper floors and thus providing privacy to different designed spaces.

Vehicular circulation around the site also for the fire fighting or any large service vehicles.

Service entry connects to the internal roads from backside and various services such as dg set,garbage collection ,STP are placed on the vicinity of service entry

Live projects under self-startup studio “unbuilt design studio” Along with my undergraduate studies, i’ve had the oppurtunity to be part of some residential projects - From design stage to construction and excecution. Dealing with site drawing requirements, material selection, client meetings, BOQ, Estimation, design helped me to gain different perspective of project management. THE COURTYARD HOUSE Vavoshi, Ransai Village, Maharashtra. Weekend House - Residential Project Ongoing - Completion Stage The farmhouse at vavoshi is designed for the group of friends investing together in a place where there can be weekend Meets and peaceful as well as getaway space from the hustle and bustle of city. The design tries to build a soulful dialogue between the ‘built’ and ‘unbuilt’ through verandahs and courtyards. The main aim of the design was to bring inside out and provide spaces which be moulded into various chill out areas for the client. Courtyard space being the focal point of the design, invites in light and ventilation. All the spaces Inside the house is connected by verandahs sky lit through semi - open courtyard at the centre. Landscape spaces and amenities added to the site are strategically placed and designed as per client’s desire and vision.

THE COMPACT HOUSE Khopoli, Raigad.

3 BHK Bungalow - Residential Project Ongoing - 2020 Area - 1600 Sq.ft. Client: Bhakti Sathelkar The Compact House at Khopoli, Raigad is the redevelopment of retail shop to an house. The client desired to fit in an extended house for them with affordable budget and maximum utilization of space. Thus the design concept was to make the compact footprint of the house a postive element and work out of flow for spaces and its standard areas. Plan follows a linear geometry with three spaces one after other.

The ground floor is designed as an open plan, thus optimising the space. The upper rooms strike a dialogue with the outside by way of a terrace and sit out window.

The master studio- community of architecture &design Organisers- archmello Year -2020 The architectural student culture and work culture differs. Architecture students are unknown & unfamiliar to the actual working fields and lead to dependency solely on what the university’s professors has to offer. This has led to graduates stepping into the building industry for first time- a difficult task, more often perceived as ‘the next university’ for the large learning curve that comes after.so bringing the two ends under the same roof was the major intent of the competition i.e. To design a co-working commercial space for freelancing architects, studios for established firms and a learning center for architecture students The project Athena aims to create a facility which bridges the gap between students & professionals- a facility where the design students & professionals can work together encouraging design dialogue, interactive sessions, workshops & a new generation of architects. The concept of Athena is to design an interactive environment, and creative spaces, corners and pockets within the building where individual can get privacy as well as get inspiration from. Zoning of the spaces such that the end-users get the most benefits from each other thus making a learn & work platform.
