Santa Monica’s Viceroy Hotel is celebrating a $21 million dollar makeover and a new coastal dining destination that’s all the rage. Open all day, Sugar Palm is an indoor/outdoor space open for brunch, dinner and cocktails, located on the lobby level of the iconic hotel.
Situated poolside, patio dining at Sugar Palm is an ideal place to enjoy a special social gathering, lunch date, or cocktails at sunset. The space, flanked by cabanas, oversized planters and fire pits is a refreshing outdoor area where guests can relax and enjoy a great meal and creative cocktails. The interior lounge area features neutral tones with large, colorful abstract art and plenty of natural woodwork. The wrap-around bar is the anchor of the restaurant, facing both interior and exterior spaces.
Chef Jason Francisco, who has previously worked at restaurants from the Raymond in Pasadena to Cut and Eataly, is the creative genius behind Sugar Palm’s gastronomic feast. Brunch specialties include the Frenchie, which consists of a brioche with tiramisu cream, mix berry jam, cacao; Chicken and Waffles, featuring buttermilk fried chicken, crispy waffles and sriracha maple syrup; and Duck Confit Chilaquiles with mole, corn tortillas, fried egg,
crushed avocado, queso fresco, baby heirloom tomatoes and cilantro.
Dinner preparations include a raw bar, shareable appetizers, plant-based options, and large entrees to share. Charred Spanish Octopus, Peruvian Scallops and Hanger Steak are some of the menu options, and decadent desserts such as Deconstructed Cheesecake and Coconut Flan bring a tasty finish to a satisfying dining experience.
