We are selling some bulls in this sale as 2/3 interest and full possession. The 2/3 interest part means that the seller wishes to retain a 1/3 interest in the bull entitling him to use the bull through artificial insemination and sharing in any future drawing expenses and revenue of semen on a 1/3 basis. Full possession entitles the new owner to all physical rights to the bull. As in any other information, announcements from the block take precedence over any written information in the catalog.

Call or Fax us prior to the sale and let us know your specifications and your price range. We will select animals which would fit your program and arrange for an independent buyer to attempt to purchase one for the agreed upon price.

Delivery & Board: A rebate of $25.00 per bull will be offered to buyers who bring their trailer and truck their bulls home themselves within one week of sale day. We Will deliver bulls free of charge within Western Canada or closest U.S. port of entry.

Bulls will be kept at Towaw, free of charge, until April 15, 2011. If bulls are left longer a fee of $1.50 per day will be charged. Bulls are left entirely at the risk of the purchaser and we recommend that insurance be taken.

AUCTION FORMAT After last year’s success with our new auction format, we have decided to repeat the process for another year. All the bidders and buyers embraced the process last year and we got a lot of favourable comments on the speed of the sale and the fact that everyone knew where they were at throughout the sale. The bulls certainly acted better in the ring and we think there was less stress on both the bulls and the buyers. “The new sale format is interesting and innovative. Although, initially sceptical, the sale proceeded along in a relaxing and progressive manner. We liked it.” Larry and Wendy Helland, purchasers of 14 bulls in last two year’s sales.

• Each bidder will be given a highly visible Buyer’s card at the registration desk. It is very important that each individual buyer picks up a Buyer’s card.

• New for this year each bull will be base priced at $1800, which will start the offering when he enters the ring.

• Any bidders interested in the bull at that price would raise up their Buyer’s card. If only one card goes up the bull will sell to that person at the base price.

• If more than one card is raised the “Bid Taker” will raise the price in $100 increments until it gets to a price where only one card remains.

• In the case of a tie, ie. all the Buyers cards are lowered at the same dollar figure, the Bid Taker would go back by $100 and then rise in $10 increments until one card remained • A bidder may join at any time but be warned once only 1 card is recognized by the bid taker, the bidding will stop.

• If a card is not raised at the base price of a bull, he will be passed out, and will be offered for sale at Base price + $100 after the sale is complete.

Towaw Q and A Q: Why don’t you creep feed your calves?

A: We don’t creep feed our calves because we believe that a big part of any bulls’ genetic merit is how well his mother raises him. Calves that are receiving ample milk from their mother will eat less creep than a calf that is missing out from his mother. The poorer performing mother is propped up by creep feed and we want our customers to receive true and full information on the genetic predictability of any given bull. We also think that creep feeding is expensive and we want economical genetics to shine through in our herd and be passed on to our customers.

Dave has three Ranch Horses that he has ready for sale by Private Treaty. All Three horses are registered quarter horses. They have been shod many times, and are rope and hobble broke. They have been to Arizona for 80 days, ridden daily and used for summer pasture work as well as dragging calves to the fire at brandings. These horses have been riden and packed in the mountains, easily handling Dave’s 190lbs on an all day ride. They are 14-15 hands, so are fit for junior or senior riders. They will be available for appraisal on sale day at the ranch.

However we are very pleased AOD 2 with the few calves he left us. 2U did a great job with an 826lb 205adj weight with only a 78lb birth weight! If you don’t remember Resistol, he was the $25000 half interest bull that Towaw purchased at Red Round Up. The semen package we bought from Towaw is proving to be a good investment!

Red & Black Baldy Fundraiser We will be donating a commercial heifer in an auction raffle format. Every $10 bid receives a ticket. In the past we have supported the Mayerthorpe Community Foundation and in 2007 the Stan Jeffrey’s and Dakota Werenka families. In the past we have raised over $22,000 with the overwhelming support of you, Thank You! This year we have decided to donate funds to the Red and Black Baldy Fundraiser. The fundraiser has our own Kirk Wildman President of the Canadian Angus Association vs. Michael Latimer Assistant General Manager competing to raise funds. The participant who raises the most funds will have his head shaved at the Canadian Angus General meeting in 2011. Proceeds will be spli t 50/50 between the Kids with Cancer Society and the Canadian Angus Foundation. Should Kirk succeed in winning the competition we promise to include pictures in next years catalogue.
