We have been developing our Angus herd for over 40 years and this marks the 4th edition of this sale format. We are proud of this large, diverse sale offering and truly appreciate your time and effort studying or viewing the cattle we are offering. We think this is an awesome sale offering - great cows with tremendous calves at side.

We are again offering a significant number of females with their 2012 bull calves at side. These tremendous young bulls and their mothers have just recently been pulled from pasture - they are fresh and ready to develop into the greatest herd sires we have offered to date. If you are just starting in the Angus business we are offering females that will be a strong base to start from. If you have been in the business for years we are sure there is a “great one� in this line up to add to your herd Feed supplies are abundant throughout the prairies and the cattle market is strengthening every week with expectations to exceed last year’s record prices. This sale offering was selected with all of our customers in mind. We have chosen several ELITE DAM females and numerous show heifer and herd sire prospects for both our pure bred and commercial customers.

All bred females are mated as if we were keeping them ourselves, we are confident the resulting progeny will compliment any breeding program. Of course we are again offering a select group of commercial bred heifers bred to our own top calving ease, performance Angus bulls. A significant group of baldie bred heifers has also been added to the sale offering, they are a tremendous group be sure to check them out sale day.

Our cattle are managed in large groups, from calving until sale time. We care for them extremely well, but no animal is pampered at LLB. Our breeding philosophy is simple: acquire the best herd sires available, selecting for performance traits and thickness, while maintaining structural soundness and strong maternal traits. By following this philosophy we have been able to produce large sire groups that are uniform and very functional. The females in this sale offering are from the top of our herd.

As you go through this catalogue and footnotes you will notice many of these females are from cow families that have produced champions at Denver, Agribition, Farmfair and the World Angus Forum or our top selling March Sale Bulls and Heifers.

Lot 24 Selling 2/3 interest and full possession Gridlock is a very impressive herd sire whose progeny has been consistently among the best born at LLB over the last four years. He has sired the top selling bulls and heifers in our last six sales, most recently the $58,000 top selling yearling bull last spring was a Gridlock grandson. Again in this sale offering his progeny are stamped with extra depth of body and structural correctness. A maternal sister to Gridlock was the $14,000 top selling female in our sale last fall to Leela Farms in Ontario. Nearly two hundred Gridlock offspring are recorded in the CAA Herd Book, all from natural service, his bull calves report an average birth weight of 84 lbs, with a life ratio of 106, and his heifer calves report an average birth weight of 84 lbs with a life ratio of 103. Again this past season Gridlock has naturally served sixty females. Close to 150 head of Gridlock progeny have been sold through our production sales generating nearly one half million dollars!

Old Post Bandolier is a powerful individual with extra body mass and excellent feet and legs. Genex leased Old Post to bolster their straight Canadian, total out cross semen inventory. Old Post daughters were among the top selling heifers last spring, one for $25000, another for $20000 and a $7000 heifer calf was among the top sellers last fall.

An Old Post heifer calf sold to Tullamore Angus last fall has gone on to be a division Champion at the recent Ontario Preview Show, there is certainly another show heifer prospects among his daughters in this offering. His sons have been well received as well, they have excellent feet with extra testicle development and record some of the top weaning and yearling weights. Sixteen sons of Old Post sold last spring for an average of $4500, several going to new homes in purebred herds – the Lot 16A bull calf maybe his best son to date..

Lot 23 Selling Possession and 100 doses of semen Tom Boy was the buzz at Agribtion 2007 where an interest in this exciting straight Canadian bred bull sold for $60,000. Now 7 years of age he has maintained exceptional structural soundness and body condition. Tom Boy daughters are among the best females at LLB, many are among the featured individuals in this sale offering. Kodiak 9188 is a calving ease sire with excellent performance records. The outstanding grand dam of Kodiak 9188 is Eulima 104K, currently in our transplant program, is an ELITE DAM whose son was one of the top selling bulls in our last spring sale. Eulima 104K also produced the top selling heifer in our 2011 spring sale to Wilgor Farms in Quebec. A full brother to Kodiak 9188 was the lead off bull in Soo Line’s second place pen of three bulls at Denver last year. LLB Free Wheeler 268S was the $15,000 top selling bull at the 2007 LLB Spring sale when purchased by Remitall Cattle Co. He was again offered at auction at the Remitall Dispersal Sale when LLB along with a progressive group of breeders purchased 268S for $23,000. In his first show appearance he was crowned Agribition Reserve Champion Bull, he placed second in class to the eventual Grand Champion at Denver and he was named Mature Champion Bull at the World Angus Forum. Note he is from the same cow family as LLB and Bandura herd sire LLB 2S Grand Design 113U. His progeny are always among the top selling sire groups in sales across Canada, equally as impressive are his daughters in this offering.

Sitz Upward 9309 is a new and important member of the LLB herd battery line up. He was purchased from Sitz Angus in Montana, one of the high selling bulls in their 2010 sale. His grand dam is responsible for 65 herd sire son and his sire is one of the most heralded present day Angus bulls. Sitz Upward 9309 is a very correct, long bodied bull that has maintained excellent body condition after heavy service at LLB the past two seasons. We are very excited about his first born offspring, both male and female.

WAF Zorzal 321U first came onto the Angus scene on display at the World Angus Forum as an outcross herd sire and has firmly established himself as the $75,000 top seller at the Remington Dispersal last fall when purchased by French River Cattle Company. He has tremendous muscle pattern, structure, is big topped with a large scrotal measurement.
