NUTRITIONIST’S COMMENTS When ever asked about bull rations I tell my clients the same thing, consistency is the key. Bulls have to have a certain amount of fiber and protein in order to properly grow and develop, and these nutrients must be delivered in such a manner as to avoid problems normally associated with poor performance. I could go into detail about fat deposition relative to protein accretion and fatty liver syndrome development, but I will simplify this by saying a balanced TMR was fed to Lazy E Bar bulls. This ration was delivered in a very consistent way ensuring each bite was the same as the bite before to maintain hoof health and avoid potential sand-cracks and other hoof disorders. Low grain rations were balanced to allow the bulls to adapt to their new homes making the transition from bull sale to breeding as smooth as possible.

These rations were monitored and adjusted to the bull’s growth rates as yearlings and two year olds for proper muscle development to avoid fat bull problems, and melt down post breeding.

Welcome from Lazy E Bar Ranching Welcome to the 2nd annual Working Man’s Bull and Commercial Heifer Sale. This year the cattle industry has found more strength than most of us thought possible and it’s great to see this much optimism looking forward.

Once again we feel that we have a package of bulls that we are very proud to offer for sale. We have seen some very good calves out of our DBR 43S, YHB 253U, BTR 64W and RCC 72W herd bulls as well a strong set of 2 year olds, that are receiving a lot of attention from those who have already seen them.

The yearling bulls were re-vaccinated in the third week of October and were weaned early November. They have been fed a nutritionally balanced silage and grain ration to ensure good development without sacrificing the quality or longevity of the bulls.

Included in the sale this year, are a package of bulls we are selling on shares with a business partner. They are slightly older than our own bulls and we feel their added age and maturity will be a great asset to those of you who want a yearling bull for an earlier breeding season.

They were weaned earlier, but have been fed the same ration as our own bulls all winter and are a strong set of calves.

Our commercial heifers were re-vaccinated and weaned slightly earlier than the bulls and have been fed the same ration as our own replacement heifers to ensure proper development.

This year we are also pleased to offer a mystery heifer lot. A choice from the 2011 born, home raised, pure bred heifer calves in our replacement pen to be chosen, by the buyer, any time before the 10th of May. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our previous buyers for their support as well as our guest consignors for their contributions to the sale.

10 COMMERCIAL BLACK ANGUS HEIFERS

JACK & KATHLEEN LYLE We would like to thank the Lazy E Bar ranch, the Bleakleys for giving us the opportunity to participate in their 2nd annual bull sale. This year we are offering ten commercial Black Angus heifers, which we feel would be an asset to anyone’s herd. These heifers were born in April and weaned the first week of December. They are on a herd health program consisting of Covexin-8 in the spring, Express 5-PHM, Ultraboc-7 and Ivomec in the fall. They have been on a ration of free choice mixed hay and eight pounds of rolled oats daily. These heifers were raised on our third generation Bleakley Ranch, south and west of Lloydminster in the Paradise Valley area.

These females come from some of our top producing cows.

GENERAL INFORMATION TERMS OF SALE: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance, unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in case of disputes, the auctioneer's decision will be final. We reserve the right to withhold animals from export shipment for whom payments have not been received prior to departure times.

BREEDING GUARANTEE: All purebred cattle are sound and right and sell with a responsible breeder guarantee of satisfaction. In the event of any unlikely dispute, the regular terms and conditions, standard with the Canadian Aberdeen Angus Association, shall apply. The consignors will not, however, provide replacement or adjustment for physical injury or mismanagement. We therefore stress the importance of insurance on bulls. At no time shall the seller’s liability exceed the purchase price of any animal.

CATTLE INSPECTION: All carry identity tags, corresponding to Sale Lot Numbers.

All shall be available for inspection prior to the sale.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Errors discovered in the catalogue will be corrected from the auction stand at sale time and will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue.
