W

e hope you liked our October 2017 - March 2018 ‘What’s On’ Guide and enjoyed coming along to some of the events.

Spring into the new season with ANGUSalive and prepare for the Angus Triathlon with us by signing up for our 12 week Triathlon Training (page 21) at Forfar Community Campus. You can also get ready by trying the benefits of open water swimming at one of the sessions at Monikie Country Park or if you prefer keeping your feet on dry (fingers crossed!) land why not explore the outdoors with us during the Angus Glens Walking Festival (page 22). Our museums and galleries are delighted to welcome back the Open Summer Exhibition from The Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour (page 15) to The Meffan Museum & Art Gallery. We are also excited to be joining in the nationwide Festival of Museums (page 16) for the third consecutive year to offer you a weekend with exciting and surprising things to do in some of our Angus museums. In 2018 ANGUSalive is celebrating Year of Young People 2018 with a number of events. To kick things off two cultural events ‘School’s Out’ (page 14), ‘Youth: In Their Own Words’ (page 17) and ‘Childhood was… Childhood is’ (page 18) by our Archives team, provide opportunities for the generations to come together and celebrate our nation’s #YOYP2018. If your own young people are looking for something different to do why not celebrate 60 years of much loved Paddington Bear (page 8) by taking part in a scavenger hunt complete with marmalade sandwich across all of our libraries. Marking 100 years since woman secured the right to vote and in recognition of other important achievements by local women, ‘Sisters are Doing it For Themselves - Pioneering Women in Angus’ will be presented at Signal Tower Museum, Arbroath - the former home of Miss Alexina J. MacGregor who campaigned in Angus for votes for women (page 19). The Webster Memorial Theatre in Arbroath will be offering a varied programme of new comedy, music, dance and more over the spring/summer season. A new initiative with Dundee Rep Ensemble brings you their community tour of The 39 Steps at a number of our other venues across Angus and with tickets at £5 they are sure to go fast so don’t miss out on this excellent production. Getting ready for the colder months… keep a lookout for early bird offers for your chance to fly into the Webster Memorial Theatre this December, as we bring you our professional stage production of Aladdin for all of the family. Please keep in touch with updates and latest news on the events programme via our Facebook pages and website and secure your place at ticketed events by booking at www.angusalive.scot/tickets. Our team are ready to welcome you across Angus!
