Children expected to enter Kindergarten in the Lake Shore Central School District as of September 2016 should register ASAP
The school district will conduct Kindergarten Registration as outlined below.
To be enrolled in the September 2016 Kindergarten class, a child living in the Lake Shore Central School District must be five years of age on or before December 1, 2016 pursuant to §7120 of the Lake Shore CSD Policy Manual.
Proof of age is required at the time of registration. A birth certificate, a baptismal record, or a passport will serve as adequate proof of age. Also, an official record of immunizations and proof of district residency is required for registration.
All immunizations must be acquired by the start of school in September. Students without required immunizations will not be permitted to start school.
Kindergarten Visitation - Parents and entering students will be invited to visit classrooms, take a short bus ride, and meet teachers before the start of school.

Questions about Kindergarten Registration can be answered by calling the registrar’s office (926-2217). Registration materials can be picked up from the registrar’s office located in the W.T. Keep Pets Cool, Comfortable and Safe During Hot Weather
Summer may be a time for vacations and recreational activities for human beings, but pets may not be privy to the same luxuries. Summer recreation may not always include our four-legged friends, as summer heat and other issues can pose a threat to companion animals. As a result, pet parents must make pet safety a priority when the weather heats up.
The Humane Society of the United States says that the summer months can be uncomfortable and dangerous for pets. Temperatures that may be tolerable for adults and children who are dressed accordingly may not be so for animals covered in fur. It's vital to help pets stay comfortable and safe as summer temperatures heat up. Pet parents also must be aware of particular dangers that go hand-in-hand with summertime activities.
· Practice vehicle safety. It is never acceptable to leave pets in parked cars, even for a minute. Temperatures inside vehicles can rise quickly and considerably in a matter of minutes, even with the windows opened slightly. HSUS says on an 85-degree-day, temperatures inside parked cars can reach 102 F within 10 minutes. Pets can suffer irreversible and even fatal organ damage in that period of time. If you have to run errands, keep dogs and cats at home where they will be more comfortable.
· Stay off of hot asphalt. If you've ever walked on the hot sand or an asphalt driveway on a hot day, you understand just how scorching those surfaces can get. Dogs and cats do not have protective shoes to wear, so safeguard the delicate pads of their paws by keeping companion animals off of hot surfaces. Schedule walks in the early morning or late afternoon when temperatures are cooler.

But a fur coat can offer protection from the sun, so weigh the pros and cons before taking action. Apply sunscreen to your dog's skin if he or she has a thin coat.
· Provide a way for pets to cool off. If you're hot, chances are your pet is hot, too. Offer a means for pets too cool off, such as a wading pool when you are outside. Offer plenty of fresh water. Keep pets who do not enjoy the heat indoors with the air conditioner running on hot days.

Tammy R. Pauley (nee Hapman) of Derby, NY, July 24, 2016, age 47. Loving wife of Christopher A. Pauley; dearest mother of Christopher M. Pauley and Brittany Hoerner; daughter of Mary Anne E. and the late RonaldR. Hapman Sr.; sister of Ronald R. Jr. (Joleen) Hapman, Michelle Hapman and the late Kim West; daughter in law of Jean Marie Pauley and the late George Johnson; godmother of Hannah Hapman. Family received friends Thursday at the Addison Funeral Home Inc. 262 N. Main St. Angola. Funeral services were held Friday in the First Church of Evans, Derby. Tammy was a 1987 graduate of Lake Shore High School in Angola and received her Masters of Physical Therapy degree from D’youville College, Buffalo, NY in 1992. She worked as Director of Rehabilitation at the Waterfront Nursing Home, Buffalo, NY for 21 Years. Tammy was a kind and loving person and known best for taking care of her aging family members. She enjoyed water, sunsets and travel, particularly to Sanibel Island, FL. She was also passionate about her cats and gardening at her home.

Originally from Lake Ronkonoma, NY, she moved to Angola to work in the Surgical ICU at Buffalo General Hospital. As a Nurse she did more than just save lives, she helped make them brighter. She was always the biggest fan at every sporting event of ours. We know the bells have rung, and she has gotten her wings. She lived a wonderful life, and will truly be missed by everyone.
