Boys and Girls Club Members of the Month

The Boys and Girls Club of Lake Shore is proud to announce Ryan DeLair and Erianna Hollie as March’s Members of the Month (MOTM). Every month, Club Staff deliberate and choose members that are trustworthy, respectful, responsible, fair, caring, and good citizens at the Club. In addition to having positive character values, the MOTM should participate in a variety of the programs offered at the Club such as sports, games, Daily Challenges, arts and crafts, Power Hour and Project Learn, Cooking Club, Experiment Club, etc.

Ryan is in eighth grade at Lake Shore Middle School.

At the Club, Ryan is constantly assisting the staff with all sorts of tasks as he is one of our oldest current members.

Ryan has actually been a member since the Club’s inception in November of 2011. He aids in overseeing different activities and his help is tremendously appreciated by the members of the Club. Ryan gets along great with all the staff, and provides an extra set of eyes and ears. His favorite thing to do at the Club is pal around and be sarcastic with Dennis, one of the current staff. At school he enjoys social studies and his favorite teacher is Mr. Kowal. Ryan’s favorite food is chicken wings, and he spends his free time playing X-Box and looking after his younger siblings.

Erianna was selected for MOTM because she is kind, friendly, gets along great with everyone, and is always in a good mood. She helps out the staff, is eager to participate, and never needs to be disciplined. She’s also a regular when it comes to getting her assignments done in Power Hour (homework room). In the Arts & Crafts room Erianna is very imaginative and creative, often making artwork that is outside-the-box. It comes as no surprise that her favorite subject in school is Art. Erianna is in 3rd grade at A.J. Schmidt Elementary and Mrs. Ware is her favorite teacher. While at the Club, Erianna enjoys hanging out with her friends. Some of her favorite things include chocolate, the color turquoise, and the Goosebumps book series. At home she likes playing with her cats.

Along with the Members of the Month is the Club’s Student of the month, Paiton Michael. Paiton is a new member this year joining in March, and while she is one of our younger members, she is very mature for her age. This is evidenced by her dedication to completing her homework on a daily basis. She never needs reminders to head to Power Hour as she is one of the first ones there getting started on her work. After finishing up her assignments, Paiton likes to head to the art room to work on different crafts and projects. Paiton is in first grade at J.T. Waugh and her favorite teacher is her art teacher, Mrs. Wade. Science is the subject she enjoys most. She likes chicken wings and prefers the whole rainbow as opposed to a single favorite color. Paiton is also a fan of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books.

Nickel City Race Club and Eden Dolphins Agree To Combine

Head Coach Greg Herzog of the Nickel City Race Club along with the boards of directors of Nickel City and the Eden Dolphins Swim Club, have announced the strategic alliance of their two organizations. The new club will swim under the Nickel City name.

Coach Herzog stated, “The future is bright for our new club!! Really, the timing was perfect. Nickel City had considered expanding and it just so happened that the Eden Dolphins, a geographically adjacent club with a successful 30 year history, was looking for a head coach.” Nickel City will now be one of the larger swim clubs in Western New York.

The coach went on to stress that in developing age group swimmers, Nickel City Race Club’s unique teaching approach blended “industry best” practices in the sport to safely build a superior foundation for fast swimming as the swimmers age up.
