SCHOOL TRANSFERS FOR NATIVE AMERICAN STUDENTS Pursuant to an agreement between the New York State Education Department and the Lake Shore (Evans-Brant) Central School District, Native American children residing within the Cattaraugus Reservation may attend the Lake Shore Central Schools by filing an application for transfer by April 15th each year. Such application for September enrollment shall be effective upon approval by the Lake Shore Superintendent, which approval or denial and the reasons therefore shall be set forth in writing. The state shall provide transportation for any child transferring under this section.

QUALIFICATIONS include graduation for a standard senior high school or be in possession of high school equivalency diploma; have one (1) year experience in the operation of two way radio and telephone system and related clerical duties which can be certified through payroll. Preference will be given to Town of Evans residents.

Crossing Guard duties include crossing Highland Elementary School children on Route 5 in Derby each morning for approximately one hour and each afternoon at dismissal time for approximately one hour following the Lake Shore Central calendar for days of work. The Crossing Guard’s rate of pay is $20.00 per day. Applicants must be 21 years or older, be of good moral character, have no criminal record, be reliable and are subject to a finger printable criminal history background check at applicant’s expense.

Employees for this position go through extensive training for 8 to 16 weeks both on the job and at the Central Police Services academy.

Southtowns Catholic School Pizza Fractions

The kids in Miss Jessica Strozyk's Grade 4 class are learning about fractions in Math. Each student was given a pizza box and they had to include a pizza that was divided into 8 different slices, represent 5 different fractions using different toppings and include a key that represented each of the fractions.
