Nickel City Race Club Scores the Most Point Per Swimmer in the NISL Championships Meet

NCRC triumphed with a 2nd place over all team finish in its division. Despite only having 47 active swimmers on the roster the young Nickel City team was very close to several established teams in the area- many fielding over 90 swimmers on their active rosters in contrast to 47 registered active Nickel City swimmers. What an amazing group of athletes!

Colin Herzog was the high point scorer with 48 points winning 3 events with an incredible 3 year run being unbeaten at this meet.

Ben Heltz coming from behind in his 100 free to win the B final in a 1:02.

Johnny Mallory and Henry Roberts just making the LSC championships cuts in 50 back & 50 breast in a fast 9-10 finals heat.

Quinn Bean registered a couple sizzling fast swims placing first place in the 50 & 100 Free and a 3rd place finish in the 50 backstroke in the 8 & under category.

Paige Pasquarella finalled in the A finals heat in all 3 events posting best times in the 50, 100 and 200 Free races placing top 4 in all events.

Casey Aquiline made finals in all 3 events posting 3rd and 5th place finishes in the A final in the 100 Breast.

After a 7 week Meningitis setback, Nick Herzog posted personal bests after only 9 weeks of training.

Morgan Matyas gained victories in 100 back & 100 Free.

Olivia Heltz finalled in the A all 3 events 50 free, 100 free and 100 backstroke posting best times in 2 out of 3 events.

Will Herzog a surprise wining the 100 breast in a quick 1:12 on limited training and reaching the A finals in all 3 events.

Isabella Demeo dropped almost 27 seconds in the 500 Free.

Patrick Roberts placed 3rd in the 200 free.

Christian Steiner made the A finals in all 3 events; 50 free 100 free and 100 back.

Patrick Woods competed in 3 finals events and made the A final in the 100 back.

Mike O’Meara finalled in all 3 events of his events with best times in the 50, 100 & 200 Free.

Lilly Daley, Max Koch & Doug Coleman logged some terrific swims dropping time in every race they swam in during the meet.

Some other extremely positive and strong performances (adding great depth to the team) were posted by Lauren Daley, Lauren Aquiline, Ryan Herzog, Charlotte Koch and Erin Woods.

Congratulations were given from Head coach Greg Herzog to the assistant coaches and to all Nickel City swimmers on a job extremely well done! ___________

Truman C. Phillips Jr. Of Delevan, NY, formerly of Hamburg, died March 10, 2015, at the age of 86. Son of the late Truman C. and Delora E. (Stearn) Phillips; beloved husband of the late Dorothy H. (Boseck) Phillips; loving father of Diana (late Thomas) Smith, Susan Phillips, Nancy (Eugene) Connors, Daryl (Mary Jo) Phillips and the late Duane, Brian Phillips and Linda Facklam; also survived by 11 grandchildren, five greatgrandchildren; brotherin-law of Charles Boseck, Norma (Boseck) Hulley; many nieces and nephews.

Friends called for memorial visitation Saturday from 4-6 PM at the Wentland Funeral Home, 10634 Main St. (Rt. 62), North Collins, NY, and memorial services were held at 6 PM. Truman Jr. was a retired truck driver, avid motorcyclist and an enthusiastic Nascar fan. __________

Jacobs Informs Motorists of County’s Pothole Hotline Says warmer weather will likely create even more craters in County roads

Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs is advising motorists to submit any pothole repair requests using the County’s pothole hotline. All submissions collected will enable the County’s Department of Public Works (DPW) to determine what county road is in need of repair.

“When motorists call or email the location of a pothole, the Department of Works will require specific information as to the location of the pothole,” stated Jacobs. “With milder weather on the way, the cold patching process used this time of year can begin, reducing some of the more serious hazards on county roads.”

Residents can call in any potholes on county roads using DPW’s pothole hotline at 858-7966. Online submissions can also be sent via email to potholes@erie.gov.

Jacobs advises motorists who need to file a property damage claim with the County of Erie due to pothole damage must do so through the County Attorney's Office, Property Damage Department. In order to file a property damage claim, motorists must submit a written notice of claim within ninety days (90) of the date of the incident/ accident that caused damage to your property. In regards to pothole damage, the specific pothole that purportedly caused any damage must have been previously reported to the Erie County Department of Public Works.

PRODUCTION LINE OPERATORS(S)- The candidate that best fits our expectations will have an understanding of production assembly environments. We expect our employees to have their high school education completed. The employee will assemble or modify electronic precision components.

They may be a part of a team or work individually to perform the tasks in hand assembly or machine operations to fit, fasten and wind wire coils used in electrical components. Our assembled parts are small so good vision is needed. Must have the ability to repetitively assemble small items at reasonable production rates established. Starting rate is $9.61/ hr., 40 hours per week, Monday thru Friday, 7:00am3:30pm. Typically a 60 day introductory period, if successful will see rate increase to $10.10/ hr. with additional benefits.
