Is anyone dreaming of a white Christmas? If so, let’s hope it’s not to the extent we see in these photos! We could not resist sharing the photos of this amazing snowfall on Milestrip Road in the town of Brant circa 1941. The photos were donated to us by Larry and Mary Ellen Beuzenburg a few years back. Larry’s father, Clarence Beuzenburg, owned a construction business and had plenty of heavy duty equipment such as a crane, road grader and the D6 caterpillar tractor with plows we see in the photos. He recalled that his dad dug a lot of ponds and basements in this area and that his company was also hired to clean out the marina bay at Sturgeon Point in Derby, N.Y. In addition to his construction business, Clarence, a lifelong resident of the town of Brant, was also the Town of Brant Justice of the Peace. This was an elected position that he held for forty years, until his passing in 1969. Larry is not certain why his dad was plowing the snow on Milestrip Road, other than to possibly lend a hand because of the volume of snow to clear from the roads. DiPietro Honors Lake Shore Superintendent
Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C,I-East Aurora) honored the superintendent of the Lake Shore School District, Jim Przepasniak, this past Tuesday for his tireless dedication to all of his students and his overwhelming commitment to spreading literacy and the magic of learning. Mr. Przepasniak was honored in a ceremony by DiPietro at Lake Shore where he received a proclamation signed by the assemblyman commemorating his service to the students and the region. “It’s people like Jim Przepasniak that bring our students into the modern era,” DiPietro said. “His attention to detail and ceaseless drive to inspire his charges is nothing short of amazing. It is my privilege to work alongside him and his staff to ensure that our students receive the very best education possible.” Assemblyman David DiPietro represents the 147th Assembly District, which covers all of Wyoming County and the southern portion of Erie County. Southtowns Catholic School Veterans Day Celebration
SCS held their annual Veteran's Day Celebration on Friday, November 9th. The students invited their Veteran to a special Mass followed by a Veterans Day assembly. Newell Faulkner Post #880 presented the Colors and led the Pledge of Allegiance. After grades 2, 3 & 4 read a poem, Mr. Trembath read "The Soldier Poem". Mr. Casseri played the saxophone and asked everyone in each branch to stand while he played their official song.
