Angola Physical Therapy welcomes Kurtiss Driscoll, PTA, as a fulltime Physical Therapist Assistant. Mr. Driscoll is an Angola native and a 2008 graduate of Lake Shore Central Schools. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force in Security forces, with one deployment to Kyrgyzstan, and then returned home to attend Villa Maria College. He completed his Associates in Applied Science, Physical Therapist Assistant degree in 2017, and was granted a NYS license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant after passing the NYS board examination. While at Villa Maria, he captained the basketball team, and was awarded to the USCAA Conference All-American Academic Team. After graduating, he spent one year working at U.B.M.D. Physical Therapy where he assisted in the treatment of all varieties of orthopedic injury and postoperative care. Outside of his professional endeavors, Kurtiss is active in his church (Watermark Wesleyan Church). He travelled on a missions trip to Zambia, Africa from June 25th-July 7th, 2018, where he worked at a childrens’ leadership camp, providing counseling and support to the youth of the city of Choma, Zambia. He has assisted his church with outreach to youth and adults through basketball leagues and fundraising tournaments. He also is a member of the Greater Buffalo Fire Fighters Pipes and Drums band (snare drum). Kurtiss is the son of Judy and Jon Driscoll of Angola.

News from the Angola Public Library – A Dedication Ceremony In Memory of Mary Packard Truby
The Angola Public Library received a $10,000 NYS Senate “Budget Aid” donation, awarded by Senator Chris Jacobs, in October of 2017. In recognition of this generous funding, a huge “presentation check” has been on display in the library, which is located at 34 North Main Street in the Village of Angola, N.Y. Upon receipt of the donation, an idea proposed by the Angola Public Library Director Jennifer Page and approved by the Library Board was to use these funds for a much needed new circulation desk. The desk was ordered and a few months later, installed in March of 2018. At that time the library board of trustees voted unanimously to dedicate the new desk in memory of Mary Packard Truby who had been with the Angola Public Library for over 39 years, most of those years serving as Director. (Angola Public Library Director Mary Truby, retired, passed away on February 21st, 2018). With the decision made, an August 25th dedication date was set. Invitations were extended to Mary’s family, local town and village officials, Buffalo & Erie County Public Library officials, Legislator John Mills and Senator Chris Jacobs. The date of August 25th soon arrived and Jack Kuebler, President of the Angola Public Library Board of Trustees was the perfect master of ceremonies for this most special event. Over fifty people were on hand to witness the unveiling of the dedication plaque which reads as follows: “Reception Desk Dedicated In Memory Of Mary Packard Truby, Director 1977- 2016, Angola Public Library”. The plaque includes a photo of Mary as well. Attending the ceremony were Mary’s husband, children, grandchildren, brother and many other family members and close friends. Also in attendance were: Jennifer Page - current Angola Public Library Director, Angola library staff members both current and retired, Angola library board of trustee members (past and present), Village of Angola Mayor Frawley and his wife Marge, Kenneth Stone - Buffalo & Erie County Public Library CFO, Legislator John Mills, who has been a strong supporter of the Angola Public Library and all WNY libraries with his annual hot dog roast fundraisers and of course Senator Chris Jacobs, whose help made the new desk a reality. A reception of light refreshments followed the unveiling and dedication. Contributed by the Angola Public Library Board of Trustees __________

Major General Anthony P. German, the Adjutant General for the State of New York, announces the recent promotion of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership. Caleb Bullard from Lake View, N.Y. and assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 2-101 Cavalry (Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Target Acquisition) received a promotion to the rank of Private First Class. Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability, and development potential. From the Old Photo Album Angola High School 1920
The Angola High School was once located in the building of what is today known as the John T. Waugh Elementary School on High Street in the village of Angola, N.Y. Many students from Brant and Farnham attended this school after their 8th grade graduation from the local grammar schools. This photo of the 1920 Angola High School class is one of many photos found in the box of donated items from Janet Walker to the Brant-Farnham Historical Society. The Walker family was well known in the village of Farnham. They were active community members in business, church and politics. Names were not provided with the photo. Southtowns Catholic School Joins Beach Sweep

Southtowns Catholic School students joined the Great Lakes Beach Sweep on Saturday, September 15th, 2018 to help clean the shoreline in front of Sturgeon Point Marina in Derby. The kids collected data all the bags of garbage that they filled. They also found metal, construction debris and 1 tire. Every year, middle students at Southtowns Catholic School do various volunteer activities and the hours go toward their Community Service Grade in Religion Class.
